About the yard

A Sailor's Idea Bought by an Offshore Racer, Then by Sanlorenzo

Bluegame was founded around 2000 by Luca Santella, an Olympic sailor, who built a single custom motor yacht that caught the eye of entrepreneur and offshore powerboat racer Carlo Bonomi at the Monaco Yacht Show. Bonomi financed a proper production run, turning Santella's one-off into a small series builder of open, sports-utility style motor yachts, a format the brand still builds today under model names that mix BG, the flagship open-day-boat range, and BGX, a slightly more enclosed, longer-range variant.

Sanlorenzo, the larger Italian yard best known for its own SD, SX and SP flybridge ranges, bought Bluegame from its founders in 2018 and has run it since as a distinct brand within the group rather than folding it into Sanlorenzo's own lineup. Sanlorenzo kept Santella involved and brought in the design studio Zuccon International Project to refresh Bluegame's exterior and interior language across the range, and the two studios have since co-developed several of Sanlorenzo's own SD, Steel, X-Space, SX and SP models as well, making Bluegame something like a stylistic testbed for the wider group rather than a separate operation.

One Yard, Two Ranges, and a Fast-Growing Model Line

Bluegame is headquartered administratively at Ameglia, in the La Spezia region alongside Sanlorenzo's own head office, while the yachts themselves are built at the group's Viareggio production site on Italy's Tyrrhenian coast. Under Sanlorenzo's ownership the model range has expanded quickly: the open BG line runs through the BG54, BG64 and BG74, and the more enclosed BGX line covers the BGX60, BGX63, BGX72 and BGX83, all sharing a family resemblance of low, open profiles, drop-down side terraces and a helm set back from an open foredeck lounge.

The BG64, the newest model in the open range, made its public debut at the 2026 Cannes Yachting Festival, positioned by Sanlorenzo as the model that completes the BG line by bridging the styling of the larger BG74 with the engineering platform already proven on the BGX63. Because she has only just gone on sale, almost nothing about her in-service ownership experience exists yet; everything published so far comes from the builder's own launch material and first-look boat show coverage rather than an owner base.
