About the yard

A Ferretti Group brand built to sit between production and full custom

Custom Line was created in 1996 as a dedicated brand within the Ferretti Group, built to offer composite yachts from around 30 metres upward with a degree of personalisation the group's production-line brands did not attempt. The first model, the Custom Line 94', debuted at the Cannes Yachting Festival in 1998, and the brand has since delivered more than 300 yachts, cruising under owners' flags worldwide. Everything Custom Line builds is constructed at the Ferretti Group Superyacht Yard in Ancona on Italy's Adriatic coast, the same facility that has hosted CRN since 1963.

The Ancona site now spans just under 77,000 square metres, with around 32,700 square metres covered across nine construction sheds, four dedicated to the group's steel and aluminium projects and five to Custom Line. Over 1,000 technicians, engineers, architects and administrative staff work across the site, which the group describes as one of the most advanced production centres in the European maritime sector. Ferretti Group has also built a trigeneration plant at Ancona, generating combined heat, power and cooling on site; the group states it cuts electricity consumption there by up to 79 percent and saves roughly 20 percent in annual primary energy, verified through the group's own published announcement and covered independently by SuperyachtNews.

What separates Custom Line from Ferretti Yachts and CRN

Custom Line, Ferretti Yachts and CRN all sit inside the same corporate group and share the Ancona yard, but they are built to different philosophies. CRN builds only full-custom megayachts in steel and aluminium, generally 60 metres and up, with each hull an engineering one-off. Ferretti Yachts runs a more conventional production model with a fixed catalogue of composite motor yachts. Custom Line sits between the two: a semi-custom brand that until 2024 built exclusively in composite (fibreglass) across three product lines, offering owners real choice over layout, finish and equipment within an established hull range rather than a blank sheet or a fixed specification.

That middle position shows in the current lineup. The Saetta line covers planing composite yachts from 106 to 140 feet aimed at owners who want speed and a sportier profile. The Navetta line covers displacement composite yachts from 30 to 42 metres built for long-range comfort. In 2024 Custom Line added a third, the Aluminium Alloy line, currently a single model, the Navetta 50, which broke with the brand's composite-only history to build a 49.9 metre flagship in metal. Coordinating a client's choices across any of the three lines runs through what Custom Line calls its Atelier, the in-house customisation process that is the brand's stated point of difference from a standard production yacht.

A track record built on volume, not one-off headlines

Where CRN's reputation rests on a small number of very large one-off superyachts, Custom Line's rests on delivering a large, consistent fleet at a size where full customisation is normally out of reach. More than 300 yachts over nearly three decades is a production run most full-custom yards never approach, and it has let Custom Line refine a repeatable build and delivery process rather than solving a new engineering problem on every hull. The brand's Navetta 30, in particular, has been a steady seller, with successive hulls in the high teens and twenties launched through the 2020s.

The Navetta 50 tests whether that volume-built expertise scales upward. Building a 50-metre yacht in aluminium, a first for the brand, and doing it while keeping Custom Line's semi-custom process and delivery cadence intact, is a genuinely different proposition from the 30 to 42 metre composite range the brand spent nearly three decades perfecting. Two hulls delivered inside two years suggest the brand can hold that cadence, but the model is still new enough that its long-term reliability record, unlike the well-worn Navetta 30's, has yet to be written by owners rather than by the yard.
