The big idea, one size down

When the wallywhy200 proved that owners would buy volume over length, the obvious question was how far down the concept could travel. The wallywhy150 is the answer. At 23.99 metres overall with a 6.78 metre beam, it stays under the 24 metre load line threshold that simplifies regulation, crewing and berthing across the Mediterranean, yet it measures 150 gross tonnes, interior space that conventional yachts need several more metres of dock to match.

The team is the one that created the category. Luca Bassani and the Wally design office shaped the yacht with Ferretti Group's engineering department, and Studio A. Vallicelli and C returned to design the interior, carrying the calm, architectural register of the flagship down the range. The first hull was unveiled on the opening day of the Venice Boat Show in June 2023 and went on to make its international debut at that year's Cannes Yachting Festival.

A main-deck suite with the best view aboard

The signature of the wallywhy family is where the owner sleeps. On the 150 the master cabin sits on the main deck, wrapped in glazing that delivers a 270 degree panorama from the private quarters, a position and a view that in the sub-24 metre class belong to this yacht alone. Headroom of 2.5 metres runs through the interior, so the sense of space is vertical as well as horizontal, rare at this size.

The rest of the yacht follows the family logic. Flush decking connects the saloon to the cockpit in one continuous surface, glass keeps the horizon present from almost every seat, and the sundeck above carries full dining options, effectively adding another room to the yacht. Guests move from swim platform to saloon to sundeck without ever feeling the boundaries that chop a conventional 24 metre yacht into compartments.

Triple pods and honest performance

Under the deck sits a triple Volvo Penta IPS installation, offered with IPS1200 units for a 21 knot top speed or IPS1350s for 23 knots. Cruise is a relaxed 20 knots and range at that pace is 370 nautical miles from 9,000 litres of fuel. Displacement is 84 tonnes unladen, and the pods bring their usual gifts, joystick docking, dynamic positioning and an engine room that gives volume back to the interior.

Draft is the quiet weapon. At two metres fully laden, the 150 slips into anchorages and harbours that heavier conventional yachts of similar volume must pass by, which changes how a Mediterranean season actually plays out. The wide-body hull was engineered by the same Wally and Ferretti Group department that delivered the wallywhy200, so the unusual proportions ride on hydrodynamics that were proven at 200 gross tonnes before this hull was tooled.

Twenty people, four cabins, real crew quarters

The accommodation reads like a bigger yacht's. Four guest cabins sleep the owner's party, two crew cabins keep professional service aboard and separate, and the yacht is certified for 20 people on board, so a full day at anchor with friends is within the paperwork as well as the deck space. The Vallicelli interior keeps surfaces quiet and materials warm, letting the glazing and the sea do the decorating.

Astern, the platform and flush aft deck give direct access to the water in the manner owners now expect, and the beam carried far forward means the main deck feels like a terrace for its entire length. RINA classification underpins the build. It is a specification aimed at families who actually use their yachts, not at the boat show alone, and it explains why the model found buyers immediately.

Why the 150 earns its place

The wallywhy200 validated the family, and by the time the 150 reached America the flagship had built a fleet of delivered hulls behind it. The 150 brings that proven concept to the size band where most owners actually live, the sub-24 metre class, where its combination of main-deck master, 150 gross tonnes and two metre draft has no direct rival. The nearest competitors offer either the volume or the compact length, never both.

For an owner, the practical case is the same as the flagship's, compressed. Nothing at this length offers this much yacht, nothing with this much interior runs at 23 knots and parks in two metres of water, and the design will still be identifiable across an anchorage in fifteen years.
