The Grande that reads as a superyacht

The Grande 36M places Azimut firmly in the superyacht conversation at just over 35 metres, a length the yard again states in metres to signal intent. It arrived as part of the Grande series in 2022 and quickly became one of the brand's most visible large models on both sides of the Atlantic. The yacht welcomes up to ten guests across five staterooms and carries a crew of six to run it. With a displacement in the region of 180 tonnes it has the mass and presence expected of a boat in this class.

Within the Grande family the 36M sits below the 44M flagship and well above the brand's flybridge cruisers. It is the model where many owners first experience genuine megayacht volume under the Azimut name. The series billing matters here, because it means a buyer gains a proven layout and a known build quality. That reassurance has helped the 36M sell steadily since launch. In gross tonnage terms she measures around 275 GT, which places her well inside the superyacht bracket.

Glass, teak and a low-slung roof

Alberto Mancini drew the exterior, and his signature horizontal windows run the length of the main deck to slim the profile. The superstructure is carbon fibre over a glass hull, a combination that lets the yard carry a lot of glazing high up without upsetting stability. A teak deck and polished surfaces give the 36M the finish expected at this end of the market. The lines are stretched and clean so that a substantial three-deck yacht still looks quick at rest.

The exterior planning centres on how owners actually use a yacht of this size in the Mediterranean and the Caribbean. A large beach club opens the stern to the water, and the flybridge gives an elevated social deck above the main level. Side decks are kept wide for safe movement when guests come aboard. Mancini balances the tall volume needed for six cabins against a roofline that keeps the yacht looking sleek from the dock. The wide beam also gives the yard room to fit a proper beach club and a tender garage aft.

Achille Salvagni's hand below deck

The interior is by Achille Salvagni Architetti, the Rome studio known for a warm and sculptural take on modern luxury. Across five staterooms the layout gives the owner a full-beam suite and space for up to ten guests in comfort. Salvagni's use of curved forms and rich materials gives the 36M the character of a designed residence, warm and far from clinical. Crew areas are arranged to keep service discreet while ten guests are aboard.

The wide 7.5 metre beam is what makes these rooms work, turning the main saloon into a genuine living space with room to move. Large windows keep the interior bright and tie it to the water outside. Owners can work with the yard on materials to give each hull its own character. The overall effect is a superyacht interior that feels personal to the owner.

Two modes from one hull

The 36M rides on Azimut's D2P Displacement to Planing hull, a shape designed to work efficiently both at slow displacement speeds and up on the plane. Power comes from twin MTU diesels offered at 2,200 or 2,400 hp, giving a top speed of around 24 knots and a cruise near 18 to 19 knots. That pairing lets an owner idle economically on passage or press on when the schedule demands. It is a broader performance envelope than a pure displacement superyacht can offer.

Weight control is central to the engineering. The carbon superstructure and wider composite work help the yard claim fuel and carbon savings of 20 to 30 per cent against comparable yachts. Lower weight up high also improves the ride and the yacht's behaviour at anchor. For an owner this translates into a big boat that stays relatively light on fuel for its size. Azimut ties those savings to the extensive carbon work carried over from its larger Grande hulls.

The buyer for a 35 metre Azimut

The Grande 36M appeals to an experienced owner who wants a full crewed superyacht without stepping up to the 44M or a custom build. Its five-cabin layout and six-strong crew make it suitable for extended family cruising and light charter work. The dual-mode hull suits owners who value flexibility in how they run the boat across a season. Buyers have come mainly from the United States and Europe where the model is well supported.

Against rivals from other Italian and northern European yards, the 36M leans on its Salvagni interior and the group's carbon expertise. It offers a recognised name and a large dealer and service network, which matters to owners running a yacht of this complexity. The series nature keeps pricing and delivery more predictable than a one-off of similar size. For many it is the natural first true superyacht within the Azimut world.

Price, resale and the newer Evo

A standard-specification new build has been quoted at around 14.4 million euros before options, finishes and configuration, which move the final figure considerably on a yacht this customisable. Buyers researching the used market should also know that this particular hull is the first generation of the model. Azimut revised the Grande 36M into an Evo version from 2025, with a second generation debuting at the Cannes Yachting Festival that year, so any listing needs checking carefully for which generation it actually is.

Market data reported by YachtBuyer shows the difference matters to a seller as much as a buyer. First-generation listings have averaged 308 days on the market and sold for roughly 6 percent below the asking price, while the redesigned second generation has been moving in around two days and at a slight premium. A first-generation 36M is still a serious, well-supported superyacht, but a buyer should go in expecting a longer sale process and more room to negotiate than the current model commands.

HullAzimut's D2P (Displacement to Planing) hull, with a carbon-fibre superstructure the yard credits with roughly 30 percent lower structural weight than a comparable build, and a claimed 20 to 30 percent reduction in fuel burn and emissions against similar-sized yachts.
SpeedTop speed around 24 knots, cruising speed 18 to 19 knots, per this model's own launch specification.
RangeReported at roughly 1,200 to 1,500 nautical miles by third-party listings; this research could not confirm the cruising speed that figure assumes, or whether it describes this generation or the later Evo.
TankageFuel and water capacity for this first-generation hull were not confirmed from a source clearly specific to it, since several listings found quote figures for the redesigned Evo instead. Treat any tankage number for this generation as unverified until traced to a first-generation source.

Сильные стороны и что учесть

Сильные стороны

  • A genuinely novel deck layout, not just a marketing labelThe semi-walkaround upper deck with fully retractable side glazing, which Azimut calls the Infinity Deck, runs nearly stem to stern and was the first of its kind on an Azimut when launched in 2022, independently described the same way by Boat International and Yacht Style.
  • The efficiency claim is engineering, not just brandingThe carbon-fibre superstructure and D2P hull are consistently credited across independent coverage with a 20 to 30 percent reduction in fuel burn and emissions against comparable yachts, not only in Azimut's own material.
  • A production model with a real dealer and service network behind itUnlike a custom one-off, a buyer gets Azimut's established global service network and more predictable pricing and delivery, a genuine practical advantage at this size.

На что обратить внимание

  • This generation resells slowly and below askingFirst-generation listings have averaged 308 days on the market and roughly 6 percent off the asking price, materially slower and softer than the redesigned second generation. A first-gen buyer should budget time and negotiating room for eventual resale.
  • It has already been supersededAzimut brought out an Evo version from 2025 with a revised specification. Buying the original hull means buying a design the yard itself has already moved on from, which is a factor for anyone weighing resale value or the latest systems.
  • No independent sea-trial or ownership account was foundEvery source found for this page is launch press, a brokerage listing or the yard's own material. There is no first-hand review of how she handles at sea or how an owner has found her in service.

Практическая информация

This is the first-generation hull, not the newer EvoAzimut launched a revised Grande 36M Evo from 2025, with a second generation debuting at the 2025 Cannes Yachting Festival. This page describes the original 2022 hull. Buyers researching current listings should check carefully which generation a given boat is, since specification and resale behaviour differ between them.
New priceA standard-specification new build has been quoted around EUR 14.4 million, before configuration, options and finishes, which move the figure materially.
Resale pattern for this generationMarket data reported by YachtBuyer shows first-generation Grande 36M listings averaging 308 days on the market and selling for roughly 6.07 percent below asking price, against the newer second generation, which has been selling in about 2 days and at a slight premium to asking. A first-generation hull should be expected to take longer to sell and to negotiate down from list.
RangeReported at roughly 1,200 to 1,500 nautical miles, though this research could not confirm the cruising speed that figure is quoted at, or whether it applies to this generation or the Evo.
What is not publishedA confirmed sea-trial fuel-burn table, annual running costs, and a single authoritative used-market price for a first-generation hull in current condition.
