A bespoke fast flagship
The Superfast 42 was unveiled as a custom project for a European owner and delivered in the summer of 2022. It sits among the larger models in Baglietto's Fast line and shows the yard's continuing appetite for one-off fast yachts made to order. Its slender planing hull and aggressive styling drew attention at launch. The whole project was shaped closely around a single owner's wishes from the very start. It underlined that fast Baglietto yachts can be as bespoke as any displacement build.
At 42 metres the yacht is a full superyacht built to plane. The extensive glazing across several levels marks it out visually against more conventional yachts of the size. It reads as an expression of the owner's taste for speed and light. Much of the design centres on life out on deck rather than on formal interior entertaining. The Superfast 42 is a rare, individual take on the fast-yacht idea.

Top of the Fast line
Baglietto's Fast line covers its planing and semi-displacement aluminium yachts, and the Superfast 42 sits near the top by length. It shares the line's focus on speed and sharp design with the larger 43 m Fast that sits above it. Francesco Paszkowski Design shaped the exterior across the family. The Superfast name signals the yard's quickest thinking. The model shows how far the line can stretch into full custom territory for a single client.
Where the 43 m Fast is a series model, the Superfast 42 was conceived as an individual build. It carries the line's character at a larger, more customised scale. The planing aluminium hull keeps it firmly within the fast family of the range. Every major choice was made for one owner rather than a catalogue. It shows how far the yard will tailor a fast yacht.

A bespoke 42 metre planing yacht with triple engines and a central linear jet.

Slender and glazed
Francesco Paszkowski Design gave the Superfast 42 a slender, aggressive hull with wide multi-level glazing. The planing aluminium structure keeps overall weight low in the service of speed. A shallow 2.1 metre draft lets the yacht reach shallower waters than its length suggests. The lines are clearly built for pace above all else. Glass runs across several levels to open the interior to the view.
The exterior includes a fold-down transom that opens into a large swim platform with a beach club. A side-opening tender garage frees up deck space for guests to use. Outdoor living is spread across the levels for an owner who wants to be on deck. The layout turns the stern into a social hub at anchor. The styling puts speed and natural light first among the design priorities.

Cabins for the owner and guests
The layout places a full-beam master stateroom on the main deck, with further cabins below. The lower deck holds two VIP cabins and two twins with a pullman berth. Interior volume is trimmed to suit the demands of the fast planing hull. Finish and material choices followed the single owner's brief throughout. The main-deck master is a mark of the yacht's custom brief.
Crew accommodation is built around a captain's cabin and further bunk cabins. The plan keeps the owner's areas apart from the crew despite the sporting hull. Living space is arranged for warm-weather cruising and open-air living. Deck and interior flow together for a yacht used mostly in the sun. The interior serves an owner focused on time out on deck.

Triple power to 28 knots
The Superfast 42 runs three MTU 16V 2000 M96 L engines, two on traditional shaft lines and one driving a central Voith linear jet. That layout takes the yacht to a top speed of 28 knots and an easy cruise near 22 knots. The mixed drive is unusual for a yacht of this size and reflects the custom brief. The linear jet adds thrust without the draft a fourth shaft would need. Performance is built for fast coastal running between ports.
This is a yacht for an owner who wanted a fast, individual superyacht rather than a standard displacement build. It suits warm cruising grounds where a high top speed and shallow access both count. As a one-off it carries choices made for a single owner rather than a series. That makes it hard to compare directly with any production yacht on the market. For a buyer after something bespoke and quick, it is a clear reference point.
Why This Yacht Runs Three Engines but Only Two Propellers
Most triple-engine fast yachts simply run three shafts and three propellers in a row, which is straightforward but pushes the centre shaft deep and long, working against a shallow draught. Baglietto's engineers took a different route on this hull. Two of the three MTU 16V 2000 M96L engines connect to the outer shaft lines in the usual way, each turning its own propeller. The third engine, sitting on the centreline, does not turn a shaft at all. It feeds a Voith linear jet, a waterjet unit that draws water in and forces it out the back rather than spinning a propeller in open water. That third unit adds thrust exactly where a conventional third shaft would have needed the most depth, which is how a 42 metre boat with a draught of only 2.1 metres still reaches a genuine 28 knots.
The practical upside shows up away from the top end of the speed range too. Running on the two shaft engines alone gets the boat to a comfortable cruising speed while the centre jet and its engine sit idle, flexibility a straight three-shaft boat cannot offer, since all three of its engines are mechanically committed the moment any of them turns. Baglietto is not shy about calling this an unusual solution, and it is one of the few things about this yacht confirmed the same way by more than one outlet, which matters on a boat where a lot of the harder mechanical detail, generators and stabilisers included, has simply never been published anywhere found.
Двигатели и системы
| Engines | 3 x MTU 16V 2000 M96L diesels. Boote-Magazin and Romeo United Yachts both give 1,939 kW (about 2,600 hp) per engine; some brokerage listings round this to 2,400 to 2,435 hp, likely rounding rather than a different engine. |
|---|---|
| Drivetrain | Unusual triple-engine, dual-shaft arrangement: the two outer MTUs drive conventional propeller shafts, and the third, central MTU drives a Voith linear jet mounted between the shaft lines. Confirmed independently by Boote-Magazin.de and by YachtBuyer's report on the yacht's launch. |
| Top speed / cruise speed | Top speed is given as 28 knots by most sources (Boat International's directory, Romeo United Yachts, YachtBuyer), though Boat International's own World Superyacht Awards 2023 writeup cites 29 knots for the same hull. Cruise speed is 24 knots per Boat International's directory and Yacht Charter Fleet, but a Romeo United Yachts brokerage sheet for the same hull lists 22 knots. Treat 28kn top / 24kn cruise as the better-supported figures. |

| Bow / stern thrusters | Not disclosed in any source found for this page. |
| Watermaker | Not disclosed in any source found for this page. |
| Fuel and water tankage / range | Not disclosed in any source found for this page. A generic Superfast-line brochure spec sheet lists a 700nm range, but this could not be corroborated as a figure specific to this hull. |
| Engine room access | Not disclosed in any source found for this page. |
| Hull, construction and draught | Planing aluminium hull with aluminium superstructure and teak decking, beam 8.7m, draught 2.1m. Confirmed by Boat International's superyacht directory and Yacht Charter Fleet independently. |
| Gross tonnage | 399 GT, per Boat International's yacht directory and Yacht Charter Fleet. |

Сильные стороны и что учесть
Сильные стороны
- Genuinely shallow draught for her size2.1m draught on a 42m planing hull, confirmed by Boat International, Romeo United Yachts and YachtBuyer, opens harbours and anchorages a similarly sized deep-V or semi-displacement yacht cannot reach.
- Real speed without the usual trade-off of a pure triple-shaft boatThe two-shaft-plus-central-Voith-linear-jet layout is reported by Boote-Magazin and YachtBuyer as the mechanism behind a 28 knot top speed on a full-displacement-look hull, a genuinely unusual engineering solution rather than a marketing label.
- Recognised by the industry's own judgesThis hull won Best Semi-Displacement or Planing Motor Yacht, 35m to 41.99m, at the World Superyacht Awards 2023, confirmed independently by Boat International and Pressmare.
- A genuine one-off with a full design pedigreeExterior and interior by Francesco Paszkowski Design with Margherita Casprini, hull engineering by P.L.A.N.A. (Pierluigi Ausonio Naval Architecture) per Megayacht News and YachtBuyer, so the hull is bespoke rather than a stretched production platform.
На что обратить внимание
- Core mechanical specification is thin in the public recordNo named source discloses generator count/output, stabiliser make, thruster specification or watermaker capacity. For a research page this is a real gap, not a stylistic omission.
- Fuel and water tankage, and therefore real-world range, are not verifiably publishedThe only range figure in circulation, 700nm, comes from a generic Superfast-line brochure sheet rather than this hull's own trial data, and could not be corroborated by a second source.
- Sources disagree on basic performance numbersTop speed is given as both 28 and 29 knots, and cruise speed as both 22 and 24 knots, across otherwise reputable outlets. That is a real inconsistency in the record, not a rounding nuance.
- Name collision risk with a later, unrelated Baglietto yachtBaglietto delivered a second, different 42m yacht also named RUSH in 2025 (Fast line, twin MTU 12V4000 M93L engines, no central jet). Any research or resale search on this name needs to separate the two hulls carefully.
Практическая информация
| Price | Never disclosed by any authoritative named source. A figure of EUR 5.5 million surfaces in one uncorroborated search snippet, sits far below the EUR 20 million-plus range industry sources give for Baglietto yachts of this size, and is not repeated by any second source, so it is not reported as the price. |
|---|---|
| Bespoke one-off status | Built as a single custom commission for a European owner on the Superfast 42 platform, not a series build, per Baglietto's own press materials and Boat International. |
| Resale / brokerage history since 2022 | No evidence found of this hull being listed for resale or charter since delivery. Yacht Charter Fleet and CharterWorld list her as not currently available for charter. |
| Running costs | Not disclosed for this yacht by any source found. |
| How a similar commission would be bought | As a custom Superfast-line build, this route runs through Baglietto's own commission process at the La Spezia yard, working with Paszkowski Design and Baglietto's in-house P.L.A.N.A. naval architecture office. |
| Comparables | Closest in-house comparables are Baglietto's own Superfast and Fast line 40 to 43m planing yachts. Outside the yard, similar-mission fast planing yachts in the low-40m range include Sanlorenzo's SX/SD fast line and Mangusta's Oceano series, though none use a central Voith linear jet drive. |
| What is not published | Generators, stabilisers, thrusters, watermaker capacity, fuel and water tankage, verified range, and price are all absent from the named sources checked. |
