Tankoa's 50m Vertige sells after a EUR 2m cut to EUR 24.5m

The boat and the number

Vertige is the 49.9-metre first hull of Tankoa's S501 range, delivered in 2017 in all-aluminium construction and in the same ownership ever since. She completed a comprehensive refit in 2023 covering a full repaint and a refreshed interior. The sale was announced on 16 July, an in-house transaction at Ocean Independence with Jack Gradus and Jeremy Comport representing the seller and Tom Roberts the buyer.

Her last published asking price was EUR 24,500,000, reached after a EUR 2m reduction from EUR 26.5m. The closed figure has not been published, and asking is not achieved. What is public is the shape of the deal: a nine-year-old yacht, one owner, one recent refit, one price cut and then a sale.

What the specification carries

Beam is 9.4 m and maximum draught 2.2 m, on a semi-displacement aluminium hull measured at 496 GT. Twin MTU diesels of 1,000 hp each give a top speed of 16 knots, a cruise of 14 knots and a range of 4,500 nautical miles. At-anchor stabilisers are fitted.

Twelve guests are carried in six cabins, led by a full-beam owner's suite with opening side terraces, a private study, a walk-in wardrobe and an en suite. A VIP, three doubles and a flexible twin with an optional Pullman berth complete the guest accommodation, with separate quarters for a crew of 10. The aft swim platform and beach club has been the feature charter guests respond to, and she has been chartering from EUR 270,000 per week.

Who drew her

Francesco Paszkowski is responsible for the exterior. The interior was developed by the same studio in collaboration with Margherita Casprini. That is the pairing which has since drawn Sanlorenzo's 72-metre steel flagship, so this boat is an early example of a partnership now working at the top of the Italian fleet.

The interior brief was 1950s art deco, executed in teak and polished rosewood. That is a specific look with a specific audience, which is relevant to a boat that took time to sell. A strongly authored interior narrows the buyer pool at any price, and the 2023 refresh kept the identity instead of neutralising it.

Twenty-two months, and one cut

BOATPro records Vertige as first listed for sale in September 2024. She sold in July 2026, which is 22 months on the market for a refitted first-of-series with a single owner. Tankoa's 49.9-metre Kinda is still listed at EUR 27.9m, which frames where the asking prices in this corner of the fleet sit.

The EUR 2m move is the honest signal in the sequence. On a mid-twenties asking price, a cut of that size is not a fire sale, it is the last step of a negotiation both sides could see coming. Sellers who refuse that step tend to sit for another season and then take a larger one.

The refit-then-sell question

Owners repeatedly ask whether a major refit pays for itself at resale. The blunt answer is that it rarely returns its cost line for line, but it changes who will look at the boat at all. A 2017 hull with a 2023 repaint and interior gets shown to buyers who would not have opened the file on an unrefreshed sister.

The lesson for anyone holding a boat of similar age is to decide early. Refit work commissioned two years before a planned sale reaches the market as a current yacht. The same work started once the boat is already listed reads as repair, and buyers price it that way.
