Bozzo gives the yard a second face
By 2022 the Darwin had defined CdM as the maker of honest, workboat-flavoured explorers. The Deep Blue line, drawn by Argentine designer Horacio Bozzo, was the deliberate counterpoint, a high flared bow the yard calls its beak, deep bulwarks, sculpted superstructure and glazing with floating mullions. It reads powerful from a mile away, and it moved the brand into conversations with owners who found the Darwin too rustic.
The line now spans three sizes, the 115, the 130 and this 141, all steel and aluminium, all displacement, all under 500 GT. The 141 is the flagship of the family at 43.15 metres, and the one that established its credentials in the hardest way available, by going straight in front of an awards jury against the best displacement yachts of its year.
Acala, a winner at the first attempt
Hull one, Acala, was delivered in 2022 with interiors by Mexican designer Simon Hamui, twelve guests in six staterooms and a finish level that surprised judges expecting expedition plainness. At the 2023 World Superyacht Awards she took the class for displacement motor yachts of 499 GT and below between 40 and 45 metres, one of the most contested brackets in the sport. The award mattered beyond the trophy shelf, because it announced that the explorer yard could now win on design language as well as engineering, in front of a jury weighing it against conventional glamour.
Six genuine staterooms on 43 metres is the volume story told plainly. It is the kind of accommodation count normally associated with 50 metre yachts, achieved here because the hull carries its beam well forward and aft and because no internal volume is sacrificed to a tender garage. Acala changed hands at the end of 2025 and cruises on under a new name.

The same iron under the styling
For all the sculpture above the waterline, the 141 is mechanically a sister to every CdM. Steel displacement hull with bulbous bow, aluminium superstructure, 499 GT measurement, twin Caterpillar C32 diesels, around 14 knots flat out and a transoceanic range beyond 5,000 nautical miles at economical speed. More than 62,000 litres of fuel ride below the guest accommodation.
The engine room, tank arrangement and access routes follow the yard's commercial-ship logic, sized for maintenance underway and inspection without dismantling furniture. Classification and build discipline are the same whether the styling budget went to Bozzo's flare or the Darwin's bluff bow, which is exactly why crews move between the lines without relearning the boat.
A series with momentum
A second 141 is following Acala through the sheds, and CdM has announced the sale of the third unit, sold while still under construction. In parallel the smaller Deep Blue 115 delivered its own first hull, Octopus, in July 2026, and a 130 sits between them in the catalogue, so the family now covers 35 to 43 metres with a consistent design language.
That matters for resale, the unglamorous metric experienced owners watch. A one-off explorer is a bespoke suit at auction. A hull from a recognised, awarded series with siblings on the water is a known quantity, and CdM's delivered fleet has been conspicuously liquid, with early hulls across the lines changing hands quickly and quietly when they come to market.
Choosing between the yard's 43 metre answers
Inside the CdM catalogue the 141 competes with the Flexplorer 146 and the RJ 155 for similar money and mission. The Flexplorer buys the transforming deck and the crane. The RJ buys Paszkowski's architecture and Salvagni's interiors. The Deep Blue buys presence, the most assertive profile the yard draws, plus that six stateroom count the others do not match at this length.
The honest guidance is that the choice is aesthetic and social. All three cross oceans at ten knots on the same Caterpillar C32 engine family, built to the same structural standards. Owners who host large parties of guests, or families spanning three generations, tend to land on the 141, because the sixth stateroom stops being a spec-sheet line and starts being the reason the whole family came. In practice most buyers walk all three lines on the same Ancona visit, and the one they keep circling back to settles the question better than any comparison table.

A repeat owner who already knew what they wanted
Acala was custom-built for an experienced owner who had previously owned a smaller Darwin 102 of the same name, and wanted a bigger, more comfortable platform for diving in remote islands across the Atlantic and Pacific.
World Superyacht Awards judging notes, reported by Superyachts.newsThe awards jury singled out the diving fit-out and crew areas
Judging her the 2023 class winner, the panel praised her 'superb diving store' and excellent crew areas, and called her 'a true explorer yacht, well conceived and built, that perfectly met all of her owner's needs'.

نقاط القوة وما يستدعي الانتباه
نقاط القوة
- Award-winning against real competition, not just press coverageThe 2023 World Superyacht Awards class win for displacement motor yachts 499 GT and below, 40 to 44.9 metres, was decided by an independent jury judging her against the year's other launches, not a manufacturer's own claim.
- Built around a proven use, not a speculative briefThe owner had already run a smaller Darwin 102 for the same purpose and specified Acala to do it better, which is why the diving centre and crew areas read as genuinely lived-in rather than showroom features.
ما يستدعي الانتباه
- The yard's own numbers and the award jury's numbers disagree, on the same boatCantiere delle Marche's own technical sheet lists 14 knots maximum and about 5,000 nm range at 10 knots, but the World Superyacht Awards judges credited her with 15.3 knots and a 7,506 nm range at 10 knots when they gave her the 2023 class win. Both figures describe the identical hull - flagged, not averaged.
- No independent sea trial separate from the awards citationEvery performance figure traced back either to Cantiere delle Marche's own material or to the World Superyacht Awards' write-up, which itself draws on the yard's data - no independent publication ran her own trial.
