A DynaRig pioneer, rebuilt after bankruptcy

Perini Navi was founded in 1983 by Fabio Perini and built its name on very large aluminium and composite sailing yachts, pioneering the automated winches and furling systems that made yachts of 50 metres and more practical to sail with a normal-sized crew. Its 2006 flagship Maltese Falcon, an 88-metre three-masted DynaRig, remains one of the most famous sailing yachts ever built and helped define the large-sloop and ketch market that followed it.

The company was declared insolvent by an Italian court in January 2021 after several years of financial difficulty, and was bought out of bankruptcy in December 2021 by The Italian Sea Group for EUR 80 million. Under TISG the Perini Navi name has continued building new sailing yachts and, from 2025, a motor yacht line, alongside supporting the fleet of large sailing yachts it delivered before the bankruptcy.
