Where the Oasis concept began

The Oasis 40M is the yacht that gave the range its name and its guiding idea. When Benetti unveiled it, the promise was a beach area that folded the yacht open to the sea in a way the market had not quite seen at this scale. The concept resonated strongly and spawned the wider Oasis family that followed. As the founding model, the 40M still reads as the purest expression of the thinking. The idea proved influential enough that rival yards have since offered their own takes on a folding beach area.

Its success also marked a shift in how Benetti pitched its semi-custom range, moving the focus from decks and saloons to the water itself. The 40M sold well and put multiple hulls on the water within a few years of launch. That commercial response justified the smaller 34M and later developments in the line. The boat earned its place as a modern Benetti landmark.

A stern that opens to the sea

RWD drew the exterior, with naval architecture from Benetti's own research team working alongside Pierluigi Ausonio. The profile is low, wide and contemporary, with clean glazing and a confident stance. The defining move is at the stern, where the upper works fold outward to create a waterside platform more than 10 metres across. That platform wraps around an infinity pool set just steps from the sea. The wide beam and long glazing reinforce the sense of a yacht built around outdoor living.

With the wings deployed, the aft of the yacht becomes a broad terrace at the waterline. It is a genuinely different way to use the back of a boat, and it drives the entire exterior concept. The rest of the deck spaces are generous for the length, with strong indoor-outdoor flow. The styling has aged well against later imitators.

Calm interiors by Bonetti/Kozerski

The interior comes from Bonetti/Kozerski Architecture, whose restrained, material-led approach suits the boat's coastal purpose. The 40M carries up to 10 guests in five staterooms, served by a crew of seven. The main deck flows towards the water in line with the Oasis theme. Natural light and low horizontal sightlines keep the sea in view from most of the living space. The interior volume is generous for just over 40 metres, which the five-stateroom layout puts to good use.

The owner's quarters are handled as a private zone within the volume, away from the social heart at the stern. Material choices lean towards texture and tone rather than gloss and ornament. The result feels contemporary without chasing fashion. It gives the theatrical aft deck a quiet interior to balance it.

The folding platform, engineered

The Oasis 40M measures 40.8 metres with an 8.5-metre beam and a gross tonnage of around 385 GT. Twin MAN diesels give a top speed near 17 knots, with a cruising range suited to Mediterranean and Caribbean itineraries rather than ocean crossings. The boat is a warm-water cruiser at heart. Its performance figures are typical for a displacement yacht of this size and purpose. Stabilisers keep it steady while the platform is open and in use.

The standout piece of engineering is the fold-out beach area, which required Benetti to solve the structure and safety of opening the hull sides at scale. Getting that platform and its integrated pool to work reliably was the core technical challenge of the design. Once proven here, the mechanism became the template for the rest of the Oasis range.
