A fashion house goes to sea

The partnership between Admiral and Giorgio Armani was publicised by both houses from the outset, with the designer and his team developing the yacht together with Admiral Centro Stile. The result is a 72 metre custom build in steel and aluminium that treats the Armani aesthetic as naval architecture, with the discipline of the maison carried through structure, proportion and finish. Two units were commissioned, and the first, known in build as Project Metamorphosis, launched on 7 May 2025.

Design collaborations in yachting often amount to a styling package on a stock platform. This one runs deeper. Armani's studio shaped the exterior masses themselves, alternating geometric volumes with curved surfaces along the superstructure, while the yard engineered a hull to carry them. The Italian Sea Group presented the boat as a statement of intent, proof that Italian fashion and Italian shipbuilding could produce a single coherent object at 72 metres.

The Armani line, outside

The exterior reads immediately as something other than a conventional megayacht. A satin gold band traces the profile, floor-to-ceiling glazing sets up what the yard calls a play of reflections between sea and structure, and the upper deck is drawn as a suspended terrace over the water. An open-air lounge and a helicopter landing area complete the top of the boat, and the whole composition stays deliberately calm, with none of the tiered wedding-cake massing of the type.

Restraint is the point. Where much of the market signals wealth through height and chrome, the Armani 72 does it through surface discipline and a very controlled palette, the same language the maison applies to a jacket or an interior. At the 2025 Monaco Yacht Show, surrounded by white superstructures, the effect was exactly what both partners intended. The boat was unmistakable from across the harbour without a single loud gesture.

Armani shaped the volumes and Carrara built them, and the first hull traded before the second left the shed.

Armani/Casa within

The interior was developed with Armani/Casa and holds the same discipline. The palette runs to sandy neutrals and pale gold, warmed with Canaletto walnut and grounded in stone, with black Marquinia marble set against golden Calacatta. Lighting, mirrors and fabrics were handcrafted or selected by the studio, so the yacht is furnished the way the maison dresses its own residences, as one continuous composition with nothing bought off a catalogue page.

For an owner, the value of that approach is coherence. Every material meets every other material on purpose, and the atmosphere the studio describes as intimate, sophisticated and timeless survives daily life on board because it was engineered by people who build residences for a living. It is also, plainly, an asset story. An interior signed by Armani/Casa at this scale exists nowhere else afloat, and provenance of that kind does not depreciate the way fit-out fashion does.

Launch, Monaco, delivery

The first hull's path to the water was public and quick by megayacht standards. Launched on 7 May 2025 at Marina di Carrara, she made her debut at the Monaco Yacht Show that September and was formally delivered on 12 December 2025. An earlier delivery had been planned, and the schedule moved after the hull changed hands during the build, with the incoming owner commissioning upgrades that the yard folded into the final outfitting.

That mid-build resale is its own data point. The boat traded in an off-market deal and now carries the name No Rush, and demand for the first unit never depended on a brokerage campaign. The second unit of the pair remains in build at Marina di Carrara, which gives a rare opening for a buyer who wants the Armani collaboration with time to influence the finishing choices of their own hull.

What the collaboration means

For Admiral, the Armani project sits alongside Kensho as evidence that the yard can carry outside creative direction at the highest level without losing engineering control. For the wider market it created a new category, the couture megayacht, and it is telling that the group announced the programme as a pair of yachts. A one-off would have been a publicity exercise, while a series is a product line with a waiting list. Giorgio Armani's death in September 2025 then gave the programme a weight nobody sought, and the trade press now records the pair as the final yachts he designed.

For the owner weighing one, the calculation is straightforward. This is a 72 metre custom Admiral with the build quality of the yard's flagship programme, wrapped in the most recognisable design signature in Italy. It will never be anonymous in a harbour, its provenance is documented by both houses, and its scarcity is structural, because the collaboration produces hulls at the pace of a couture atelier and never at the pace of a shipyard.
