What is Anjelif, and why does she matter for Columbus Yachts?
Anjelif shares her underlying hull and 499 GT footprint with K2, an earlier Sport 50M delivered in 2021, but almost everything above the waterline is different, because Columbus built her around one owner's brief rather than a repeated interior. Angelini, an Italian businesswoman, is reported to have written her wish list for the boat and to have driven design decisions personally, working with exterior and interior designer Marco Casali of Too Design and Palumbo's own engineering team.
That combination matters for judging the brand as a whole. Columbus's marketing talks about full customisation on every model line; Anjelif is the delivered hull with enough independent, non-promotional coverage - two separate Boat International features, plus Robb Report, Boote Magazin, YachtCharterFleet and Fraser Yachts - to actually test that claim against a real yacht rather than a brochure. She also premiered publicly at the Monaco Yacht Show in September 2023, the same stage where the largest and best-known yards debut their own flagships, which is itself a signal of how seriously Columbus and Palumbo treated the launch.

Why does she look and feel the way she does?
According to Robb Report's coverage of the yacht, many of the facilities on board were designed around Angelini's own physical recovery, and she has said in interviews that she wanted no hard-edged corners anywhere in the interior because, in her words, corners 'stop energy and vision' - a brief that reshaped deck layouts as well as furniture. Boat International quotes her directly on two other points: on the unusual champagne-gold hull colour, she said 'it's like people, because we are not sunny and full of happiness every day,' and on the yacht's compact footprint for an owner who wanted everything, she said 'you don't have all the space in the world... it's a duty to optimise everything.'
The result is an owner's deck built around wellness rather than pure entertaining: a dedicated massage room, a main-deck gym, a hammam-style shower, an infrared sauna and mineral-stone (Taurini) accent walls sit alongside the more conventional Jacuzzis, an infinity-style pool and a helipad that converts into an open-air cinema and dance floor. Virginia de Carlo, Palumbo's marketing director, said the hull colour 'was one of the requests from the beginning,' underlining how far the brief drove the finished yacht rather than the other way around.

Built around a hull colour Angelini chose because 'we are not sunny and full of happiness every day' and a personal ban on hard corners, Anjelif is proof a Palumbo-group yard can hand an owner an actually bespoke 50m, not a semi-custom platform with new curtains.

How does the hybrid propulsion actually work?
The diesel side is conventional: twin MTU 16V 2000 M96L engines at roughly 2,600hp (1,939kW) each, backed by twin 175kW Kohler generators. What sets the installation apart is the hybrid layer built on top, developed with Siemens and certified by RINA. Two 100kW electric motors let the yacht cruise at roughly 8 to 9 knots on battery power alone, using a latest-generation lithium pack, for quiet, low-wake running at night or through anchorages - a real operating mode confirmed independently by Boat International, YachtBuyer and Columbus's own site, not a single press-release claim.
A shaft-generator mode lets the electric motors also act as generators off the main shafts, so the yacht can run hotel loads without the diesel gensets turning over. Boat International separately reported a cold-plasma air sanitisation system fitted to the ventilation and air-conditioning, intended to reduce airborne viruses and bacteria - an unusual, specific technical detail for a yacht this size rather than a generic wellness claim.

What is she like to run - crew, range, speed?
Guest and crew numbers are consistent across nearly every outlet: 11 guests across 5 suites (one master, one VIP, and three further double/twin cabins) and 11 crew in 7 cabins, confirmed by Columbus's own fleet page, Fraser Yachts, YachtCharterFleet and Boote Magazin (Boat International's own spec-page database and Yacht Harbour give a slightly lower 10 guests, which we flag rather than average). Top speed is reported at 20 to 20.6 knots depending on the source, which is close enough to call settled.
Range is not so clean. Columbus's own fleet page states 4,200 nautical miles at an economical 9 knots, a figure independently repeated by YachtCharterFleet and Boote Magazin. Boat International's structured spec page and YachtBuyer instead give 3,200nm at a 12-knot cruise with a 13-knot cruising speed listed. Both can be true at once - range drops sharply as speed rises on any hull, and a 9-knot economy figure and a 12-knot cruise figure are simply two different points on the same curve - but no source reconciles the two figures on one page, and we have not averaged them here. An owner comparing Anjelif to a rival should ask Columbus directly for the full range-versus-speed curve rather than rely on any single published number, especially before committing to a long Atlantic or Pacific passage rather than Mediterranean coastal cruising, which is where nearly all of her documented mileage to date has actually happened.

Where does she sit against her hybrid-50m rivals?
At 49.9 metres and 499 GT, Anjelif sits in the same size bracket as Sanlorenzo's larger steel/aluminium custom yachts and Benetti's mid-range custom lines, most of which now offer some form of hybrid or diesel-electric propulsion as an option rather than a fixed feature. Inside the Palumbo group itself, sister brand ISA Yachts builds the Oceano series in a similar size range with a comparable long-range, lower-speed brief, which makes Anjelif and an ISA Oceano the closest apples-to-apples comparison available from the same parent company.
Where Anjelif stands out is not raw specification - her range and speed numbers are respectable but not class-leading - but the degree to which the finished yacht visibly reflects one owner's specific, unusual brief rather than a standard layout with different fabric choices. That is a harder thing to benchmark than a knot or a nautical mile, and it is the main reason Boat International's judges shortlisted her for both exterior and interior design awards in 2025 rather than for performance.

Lo que cuentan armadores y tripulaciones
The owner on why the hull is champagne-gold, not white or dark blue
Maria Francesca Angelini said she chose the unusual champagne-coloured hull because 'it's like people, because we are not sunny and full of happiness every day' - a deliberate rejection of the glossy white or navy livery most yards default to.

Angelini said that on a yacht this size 'you don't have all the space in the world... it's a duty to optimise everything,' which is why the bow helipad also serves as a cinema and dance floor rather than sitting idle between landings.

Virginia de Carlo said the champagne hull colour 'was one of the requests from the beginning,' confirming the finish was a specific owner request built into the design brief from day one rather than a yard suggestion.

Daniela de Marco said the yacht is 'excellent for wellness retreats,' reflecting how the massage room, gym, hammam and sauna have shaped the charter guests Fraser now pitches her to, rather than a conventional party-first charter brief.

Puntos fuertes
- A hybrid system that is actually used, not just badgedThe RINA-classed, Siemens-developed hybrid system gives Anjelif a real electric-only cruising mode at 8-9 knots plus a shaft-generator mode, confirmed consistently by Boat International, YachtBuyer and Columbus's own fleet page - a working system, not a single generator with a green sticker.
- An interior driven by a specific, unusual briefThe rounded-corner rule, the wellness deck and the champagne hull colour all trace back to one owner's stated priorities, confirmed in her own quoted words to Boat International, rather than a generic superyacht template with the client's initials on the linen.
- Independent recognition beyond her own launch coverageAnjelif was a finalist across multiple categories at Boat International's Design & Innovation Awards 2025, including Outstanding Exterior Design and Best Interior Design - judged against every other yacht launched that year, not a builder's own press release.
A tener en cuenta
- The builder's own range figures do not agree with each otherColumbus's own site states 4,200nm at 9 knots; Boat International's structured spec page and YachtBuyer both give 3,200nm at 12 knots instead. Both may be true at different speeds, but no source reconciles them, which matters to a buyer planning a genuine ocean passage.
- Core technical systems are simply not publicNo outlet consulted, including Columbus's own site, publishes a stabiliser brand, bow/stern thruster specification, fuel or water tankage, or watermaker capacity for Anjelif - unusual gaps for a yacht this heavily photographed and press-covered in every other respect.
- No build price and no resale track recordColumbus has never published a build cost, no brokerage listing for a resale exists, and the yacht only entered the charter market in 2025 - so there is no independent data yet on how a Columbus custom 50m holds value against a Sanlorenzo, Benetti or Heesen at the same size.

Para quién es: An owner who wants a genuinely bespoke 45-50m Italian hybrid, is willing to work through a specific personal brief with the yard rather than pick from a catalogue, and can accept a yard with a shorter track record and no published resale data.
Precio orientativo: Columbus Yachts has never published a build cost for Anjelif, and no press outlet consulted reported one. She now charters through Fraser Yachts at EUR 330,000 to 370,000 a week in the Mediterranean high/low summer season (YachtCharterFleet); Robb Report separately cited a headline rate near USD 350,000 a week, broadly consistent with that range. No resale or brokerage listing exists as of this research (September 2026).
