GTT 115 Hybrid (JAABER, "1 of 7")

JAABER is the first Dynamiq GTT 115 Hybrid, a 35.5 metre fast-displacement yacht designed inside and out by Studio F.A. Porsche and delivered to her owner in 2018 as hull one of a planned run of seven. She won Best Naval Architecture at the 2018 Boat International Design and Innovation Awards and remains the reference hull for the model.

What is JAABER, and why is she the yacht that put Dynamiq on the map?

JAABER debuted at the 2017 Monaco Yacht Show carrying the internal designation "1 of 7", a mark still sculpted into her hull today, and completed sea trials before her delivery the following year. She was Dynamiq's second major delivery after the 2016 Jetsetter and its first collaboration with Studio F.A. Porsche, the Austrian design house brought on to design both the exterior and the interior as one coherent object rather than the usual yacht-industry split between an exterior stylist and a separate interior designer. Vripack and Van Oossanen handled the naval architecture, giving the Porsche design team a round-bilge, fast-displacement aluminium hull to draw around.

The result won Best Naval Architecture among semi-displacement yachts at the 2018 Boat International Design and Innovation Awards, judged independently against every other launch that year, and Dynamiq's own Sergei Dobroserdov called the sea trial figures ones he was "sure ... have never been achieved by similar sized semi-displacement yachts, especially when you consider the GTT 115 Hybrid is the first in the series and technically a prototype." That combination - an independently judged award plus a founder's own acknowledgement that the first hull was still a prototype - is a more honest starting point than most yacht marketing offers.

What did Porsche's design studio actually change about how this yacht looks and feels?

The exterior in Rhodium Silver carries teardrop-shaped surfaces and side contours the design studio has described as drawing directly from Porsche's own sports-car proportions, down to a sunroof frame modelled on the 911's B-pillar and mooring cleats shaped after the car's rear light units. Roland Heiler, the studio's managing director, was explicit that the brief was restraint rather than spectacle: "it is all very subtle," he said of the automotive references, adding that the goal was for the yacht to feel considered rather than "too in your face." Below decks the same discipline shows in the materials: Amara ebony joinery with a petrified-wood effect, Sahara noir marble, and, most distinctively, the Pepita houndstooth carpet pattern taken directly from the Porsche 911 R, worked into cabin flooring throughout the yacht.

The layout itself reflects a genuinely unusual engineering choice for a yacht this size: a split engine room, with the main diesels and pods aft as normal but a second, smaller engine room forward in the bow housing the energy-management system and generators for the hybrid side. That relocation exists purely to protect guest comfort - keeping machinery noise and vibration away from the accommodation - and it is the kind of decision that costs volume and complexity for a benefit no charter guest will ever see on a specification sheet, only feel.

The first hull was, in Dynamiq's own words, technically a prototype - and it still beat its own sea trial estimates and won an independently judged naval architecture award.

Does the hybrid system on JAABER actually deliver, or is it a badge?

Power comes from twin MAN V12-1650 diesel engines, 1,650hp each, driving Fortjes pod drives, backed by three variable-speed generators. On trial the yacht reached 22 knots outright and cruised comfortably at 17.9 knots burning 240 litres of fuel an hour, both ahead of the figures Dynamiq had quoted before launch, giving her a working range of about 3,400 nautical miles at a 10 knot passage speed - genuinely enough for an Atlantic crossing, which is the entire point of the GTT, Gran Turismo Transatlantic, naming. The hybrid layer sits on top of that: two 20kW electric motors, drawing on the same variable-speed generators, can move the yacht at roughly 5.5 to 6 knots with the main engines shut down completely, which is the mode Dynamiq and Studio F.A. Porsche have both pointed to as the yacht's signature party trick at anchor.

What the hybrid system does not do is change the fuel arithmetic once JAABER is actually covering distance: at her 17 to 19 knot cruise the diesels are doing all the work, and nothing in the sea trial data or Dynamiq's own figures suggests the electric side reduces consumption at speed. Stabilisation is handled by a four-fin system paired with a Hull Vane, a fixed foil under the stern that Dynamiq credits with cutting both pitch and drag, and her round-bilge hull form - a softer-riding alternative to the hard chine most planing yachts this size use - is the naval-architecture choice that lets her hold 21 to 22 knots on a hull shaped more for comfort than outright speed.

What is JAABER actually like to live aboard?

Her three-suite, six-guest configuration - one master and two doubles - is smaller than most 35 metre-plus yachts offer today, a deliberate trade against the volume freed up by relocating machinery out of the aft main deck and into the split engine room described above. The ensuite bathrooms carry the same restrained material language as the saloon, with backlit oval mirrors and dark stone double vanities, while guest cabins run the Pepita houndstooth carpet against tan leather headboard panelling with carbon-fibre trim strips, right down to a Dynamiq badge stitched into the headrests. Bowers and Wilkins supplies the audio system throughout, and the windows use XIR laminated glass, specified for its UV and heat-rejection properties rather than as a styling choice.

Outside, the 95 square metre sundeck - among the largest at this length, per the builder's own figures - sits above a 1.45 metre draft shallow enough to reach anchorages a deeper-hulled 35 metre could not, a genuine practical advantage in the thin water of the Croatian islands or the Bahamas. JAABER carries her tender in a dedicated stern garage rather than on deck davits, keeping the swim platform and the view aft clear when she is at anchor, and the same 24,000 litre fuel and 4,000 litre fresh water tankage that supports her 3,400 nautical mile range also gives her the endurance for an extended charter without a fuel stop.

What does JAABER cost, and where does she stand today?

Boat International's original coverage put the base GTT 115 at 12.5 million euros, about 14.9 million US dollars at the time, with JAABER's own price closer to 13.95 million euros once her specific options were added - figures Dynamiq's own later press materials broadly confirm, alongside a second GTT 115 hull the yard offered at 11.5 million euros a few years afterward. None of that tells a buyer what JAABER herself would cost today: she is not listed for charter, has not surfaced in brokerage listings since her delivery, and Dynamiq's founder has been candid that owners of the yard's early hulls simply do not sell them, which leaves no resale comparable to point to.

What is publicly known is that she remains the reference hull for the model: the Boat International Design and Innovation award for naval architecture, the Studio F.A. Porsche case study, and Dynamiq's own marketing all still point back to JAABER rather than to the second GTT 115 hull built in 2021, even though the current production GTT 115 - now spec'd for eight guests in four cabins and priced from 17.9 million euros - is a meaningfully different yacht from the one that actually won those awards. A buyer interested in the model today should ask specifically which specification and which build location they are actually being quoted against.

Puntos fuertes

  • An independently judged design and engineering award, not a builder's own claimBest Naval Architecture among semi-displacement yachts at the 2018 Boat International Design and Innovation Awards, voted on by a panel outside Dynamiq and Studio F.A. Porsche.
  • Sea trial results that beat the yard's own pre-launch numbers22 knots top speed and a 17.9 knot cruise at 240 litres an hour, both ahead of Dynamiq's pre-launch estimates, with a genuine 3,400nm range at 10 knots.
  • A real, coherent design collaboration, not a badge exerciseStudio F.A. Porsche designed both exterior and interior as one project, down to cabin materials and a split engine room moved purely to protect guest comfort.

A tener en cuenta

  • The hybrid system does not touch fuel economy at cruiseThe electric motors only power roughly 5.5 to 6 knots of silent running; at her 17 to 19 knot cruising speed the twin MAN diesels alone are doing the work.
  • Effectively no resale market to check her againstJAABER has not been listed for charter or resale since 2018, and Dynamiq's own executives say early owners simply do not sell, so there is no independent comparable-sale data.
  • The current GTT 115 is not the same yachtToday's production GTT 115 is spec'd for 8 guests in 4 cabins from EUR 17.9 million, against JAABER's delivered 6 guests in 3 cabins near EUR 12.5-13.95 million - a buyer must confirm exactly which specification is being quoted.
