Majesty 175

The Majesty 175 is the yacht that moved Gulf Craft from regional success story to global headline. At 56.4 metres and 780 gross tonnes she is the largest composite production superyacht in the world, premiered in May 2021 and handed to her owner that November. She carries fourteen guests in seven staterooms behind a Cristiano Gatto profile, and she did it all from a mould in Umm Al Quwain.

The record in plain numbers

Records in yachting are usually about length, and length is the least of what the Majesty 175 achieves. She measures 56.4 metres overall on a 9.62 metre beam, and her 780 gross tonnes put her in the volume territory of steel yachts that stretch well past sixty metres. Every tonne of it was laminated, cored and faired in Gulf Craft's own halls, the largest object the yard had ever pulled from a mould.

That is the record that counts. Plenty of yards can weld a big hull. Building one this size in advanced composite, to class, as a production model rather than a one-off experiment, had simply never been done. Her 2021 delivery made the point that the UAE now builds superyachts at a scale only a handful of countries can match.

Gatto outside, Gatto inside, Gregori below

Gulf Craft gave the 175 to Cristiano Gatto Design, the Italian studio behind its recent flagships, for both exterior and interior. The profile is long and low for a boat of this volume, with a near vertical bow, deep glazing bands and a mast that sweeps back like a spoiler. Nothing about it reads as a first attempt at this size, which is exactly what the brief demanded.

Beneath the styling, the naval architecture is by Massimo Gregori of Yankee Delta Studio, a specialist in fast and efficient hull forms. His work is what lets a 780 tonne yacht ride on a composite structure without the penalty in stiffness or seakeeping that skeptics predicted, and it keeps her draft shallow enough for cruising grounds a steel 56 metre has to skip.

Fifty six metres and 780 tonnes of volume, pulled from a mould, and still the largest composite production superyacht afloat.

Seven staterooms and a pool in the bow

The accommodation plan sleeps fourteen guests across seven staterooms, a count normally reserved for far longer yachts. The owner takes a full beam apartment forward on the main deck, and the guest cabins below carry the same generous headroom and glazing, because composite construction spends less of the interior on structure than steel does.

The signature space is the foredeck, where a five metre infinity pool sits ahead of the superstructure with sun pads around it, private from the dock and open to the horizon. Above, the sky lounge is a hybrid design that converts from an enclosed, air conditioned salon to an open sun deck, a sensible answer to a Gulf summer and a Mediterranean evening from the same piece of real estate. A gym completes the wellness inventory.

What composite buys at fifty six metres

The material is the argument. A composite hull of this size is significantly lighter than its welded equivalent, and the savings compound. Less weight means less draft, so the 175 can anchor close in over the sandbanks of the Gulf, the atolls of the Maldives and the shallows of the Bahamas. Less weight also means less installed power for the same speed, which shows up in fuel burn every single season.

Composite never rusts. The maintenance rhythm of a fibreglass yacht skips the endless paint and corrosion battles that steel owners budget for, and the moulded finish holds its lines for decades. For an owner keeping the yacht in warm salt water year round, that difference is structural, and it was one of the quiet reasons the yard refused to switch materials as its boats grew.

What the flagship proves

The 175 collected the International Yacht and Aviation Award for motor yachts over 40 metres, and her real trophy is credibility. She demonstrated that Gulf Craft can engineer, build, class and deliver at the top of the market, on schedule, through a pandemic. Every Majesty below her in the range borrows from that proof, and every owner negotiating a build slot benefits from the systems she forced the yard to master.

As an asset she occupies rare ground, a genuine flagship from a top ten shipyard in a class where nothing else composite comes close. Follow on hulls of the 175 are offered semi-custom, so an owner can commission the record holder's sister with a personal interior and a delivery timeline the northern European yards would struggle to promise.

Para quién es: An owner who wants sixty metre presence and volume together with the shallow draft, easy upkeep and running economy of composite construction.
