E98

The E98 is the flagship of Horizon's E series and the quick boat of the fleet, a 29.84 meter flybridge motoryacht that tops 20 knots and has been in production since 2017. Where the FD line chases volume, the E98 keeps a classic motoryacht profile, a sportier hull and a turn of speed that owners on a schedule learn to appreciate.

The sporty side of the catalog

Horizon files the E series under the promise of seaworthy, sporty and something for everyone, and the range runs from the E62 up to this boat. The E98 carries the family's raked, conventional lines at superyacht length, and it appeals to owners who came up through performance flybridge boats and never learned to love vertical bows. The series stays current, with Horizon unveiling a highly customized ES88 at its 2026 Open House, but the E98 remains the length that anchors the family's upper end.

It has quietly become one of the yard's long-serving models, with hulls delivering since 2017 and the design still listed in the current range nearly a decade later. Longevity like that is its own review. Series that stop selling get retired quickly at a production yard, and the E98's slot in the catalog has never needed rescuing.

Twenty knots, honest range

Twin Caterpillar C32A diesels of 1,600 horsepower each push the E98 to a top speed of 20.5 knots with an 18 knot fast cruise, published figures that make it the pace-setter of the Horizon fleet at this length. Getting ahead of a weather window or making the next customs dock before closing becomes a matter of throttle. The C32A is the same engine family Horizon fits across its larger FD and RP models, so the extra pace comes from the lighter, finer hull and a disciplined weight budget.

Throttled back, the boat covers around 1,500 nautical miles at 12 knots from its 11,360 liter fuel capacity, roughly 3,000 US gallons, with 1,500 liters of fresh water aboard. At 101 tons displacement it is the lightest of Horizon's near-100-footers, and the difference shows in how readily the hull picks up speed. That 18 knot figure is a working cruise, and it turns a Florida to Bahamas crossing into a morning's run.

The pace-setter of the fleet: 20.5 knots flat out, 1,500 miles at twelve and a profile that predates the vertical-bow era.

Dimensions that favor the interior

The E98 measures 29.84 meters overall on a 24.3 meter waterline, with a 6.93 meter beam and a shallow 1.78 meter draft. The proportions are those of a classic planing-influenced motoryacht, longer overhangs and a finer entry, yet the interior planning is pure Horizon, with living space layered across bridge, main and lower decks.

The yard's deck plans emphasize multi-level living: an expansive salon and dining space on the main deck, a bridge deck arranged for lounging around the helm, and generous aft decks on both levels. Reviewers have singled out how much apparent volume the design extracts from its beam, a signature Horizon skill regardless of series.

Open bridge or skylounge

The flybridge can be specified open or fully enclosed as a skylounge depending on the owner's preference, the same climate logic that splits the FD range into Tri-Deck and Skyline camps. Open, the E98 is a Mediterranean and islands boat with its best seats in the sun. Enclosed, it gains a year-round upper salon and a second interior helm.

Accommodation runs to four guest cabins with two crew quarters, and as with every Horizon the arrangement bends to the owner's program during the build. The yard's in-house interior operation has delivered everything from traditional paneling to contemporary light-filled schemes across the model's production run. Four cabins with two crew keeps the operation lean, one reason the model appeals to owners transitioning from sportbridge boats they ran themselves.

Who the E boat is really for

The E98 suits owners who measure a boat by how it runs as much as how it entertains: couples and families who move between cruising grounds on their own keel, keep a lean professional crew and want the helm experience to reward the person paying for it. The classic profile also travels well among yacht clubs where restraint still counts.

Against its FD97 stablemate the choice is clean. Same builder, same engines, similar length, but the E98 trades interior volume for speed and silhouette. Owners who host twelve for dinner every weekend should look at the FD line. Owners who leave harbors early and arrive first tend to end up here.

Para quién es: An owner who covers real distances on a schedule and wants pace, a proven hull and four-cabin comfort under a classic motoryacht profile.
