Announced early, built when the yard was ready

Numarine introduced the 45XP to the press in April 2019, at a point when its largest delivered explorer measured 32 metres. On paper that looked bold. In practice it was a roadmap. The yard spent the following years scaling its steel program through the 37XP, which launched in 2021 and became a bestseller, and then the 40MXP, so that by the time the first 45XP contract was cut the platform beneath it was thoroughly proven.

That patience is worth understanding as a buyer. Numarine builds in series and dislikes launching a model before the engineering and the supply chain can repeat it profitably. The 45XP arrives last in the XP line because the yard wanted it fully derisked first, and the long gestation means hull one benefits from every lesson learned across dozens of 30 to 40 metre deliveries.

Tagliavini's biggest Numarine hull

Naval architecture is by Umberto Tagliavini of Marine Design and Services, who has drawn every hull in the XP range. The 45XP is his largest for the yard, a full displacement steel hull with an aluminium superstructure, 45 metres overall on a 9.25 metre beam with a draft of 2.35 metres. That draft figure is the quiet advantage, opening lagoon and island anchorages that deeper 45 metre yachts have to admire from outside.

Gross tonnage comes in at 498, held under the 500 GT regulatory line like the 47MXP that shares this platform. RINA class applies, and Numarine quotes a 36 month build. The structure is conservative in the best sense, a proper little ship engineered for weather and distance, with the systems redundancy the yard has standardised across its steel range.

Three decks, six suites

The first hull is configured for 12 guests in six suites, with a master, three VIP cabins and two twins, an unusually democratic split that suits families cruising with married couples and grandchildren in the same party. Layouts remain semi custom, and the yard also drafts five cabin versions where the owner takes more private volume. Crew quarters berth up to ten in five cabins.

Can Yalman styles the 45XP inside and out, carrying the vertical bow, high freeboard and trademark angular glazing of the smaller XPs up to tri deck scale. The extra deck buys what the 37XP cannot offer, a full separation of owner, guest and crew circulation, a proper sky lounge level and exterior deck space measured in hundreds of square metres.

The engine room case

Propulsion is twin MAN D2868 LE 489 diesels rated at 1,066 kW each. Top speed is 16 knots, cruise is 12, and at 9 knots the 57,000 litre fuel capacity stretches to 6,000 nautical miles. Those are ocean crossing numbers with margin, the kind that turn a Mediterranean yacht into a world boat without a support vessel or a bunkering plan built around anxiety.

Running at displacement speeds also keeps the operating account calm. Two medium duty diesels loafing at low load burn a fraction of what a planing 45 metre consumes, and the machinery choice keeps maintenance inside mainstream MAN service networks from Fort Lauderdale to Phuket. For owners who actually use their boats hard, this is the sort of arithmetic that decides a purchase.

Hull one, and the flagship above it

The first 45XP is in build at Gebze and is currently indicated to launch in 2027, so the delivery year is left open here until the yard confirms it. Numarine has photographed and publicised the model steadily, and the 47MXP announced in April 2025 rides on the same hull and beam, which means two flagship variants are now maturing on one engineering platform.

The choice between them is a choice of temperament. The 45XP is the purer explorer, tri deck volume with conventional aft decks and the full XP character. The 47MXP spends its extra length on a resort style beach club and pools. Same bones, same range, two different ideas of what the back of a superyacht is for, which is exactly how a series yard should spend its platforms.
