Ferretti's New CEO Adds a Year of Warranty, Not on Every Yacht

Ferretti Group has extended standard warranty coverage by a year on yachts up to 45 metres across its seven brands, the first change an owner can measure in a contract since a contested boardroom vote installed Stassi Anastassov as Global CEO. The extension skips the group's aluminium and steel-hulled models, which is exactly where a warranty claim tends to cost the most.

What does the Ferretti Quality Promise extension cover?

The +1 Year Ferretti Quality Promise adds a fourth year of coverage on top of the standard warranty, but only for engineering and functional systems, not for cosmetic defects.

Ferretti Group announced the program on 8 September 2026, timed to the Cannes Yachting Festival where the group showed 22 models including four world premieres. The extension applies to all purchase contracts signed from 1 September 2026 onward, so it does not reach back to yachts already on order or already delivered. Ferretti frames the coverage around the parts of a build it can directly control: design, craftsmanship, installation and the reliability of the finished product, rather than a blanket extension of everything the original warranty already touched.

In practice that means the fourth year covers the principal engineering elements and onboard functional systems, the propulsion, electrics and mechanical installations that actually fail and actually cost money to put right, while purely aesthetic issues, a scuffed veneer, a faded gelcoat panel, a stitching flaw, fall outside it. The program also carries a condition that is easy to miss in the press release: coverage stays valid only if scheduled maintenance and inspections happen at official brand service centers with authorized personnel, which locks the owner into Ferretti's own network for the life of the extension. Ferretti Group says owners under the extension keep access to its post-sale assistance network across the major global nautical hubs where its brands operate, so the promise is framed as a service commitment as much as a paper guarantee.

Which Ferretti Group yachts does the warranty extension exclude?

The extension excludes any yacht built in aluminium or steel, which in practice removes the group's largest and metal-hulled models from the program even though they sit within the same size band.

The 45-metre ceiling sounds generous until the hull-material exclusion is read alongside it. Ferretti Group's range spans composite-built Ferretti Yachts, Riva, Pershing, Itama and Mochi models on one side and steel-and-aluminium construction, chiefly at CRN and the larger Custom Line Navettas, on the other. A composite Riva or Pershing bought after 1 September qualifies for the extra year outright. A steel or aluminium yacht from the same size band, built to the same corporate standard by the same group, does not, regardless of how close it sits to the 45-metre line.

Ferretti has not published a reason for the split, but the practical effect favours the smaller end of a fourth year that costs the group nothing in premium and only exposes it to claims on the models where systems and installation defects are cheaper to fix. A first-year issue on a composite flybridge yacht is a different bill to a first-year issue on a full-displacement metal hull, and the exclusion draws the line exactly where that difference gets expensive.

Why did Ferretti Group launch this now, under Stassi Anastassov?

The warranty extension is the first tangible policy an owner can point to since Anastassov's contested appointment in May, and it lands squarely inside the quality-and-brand message he has repeated since taking the job.

Anastassov was appointed Global CEO on 14 May 2026 after a shareholder vote at Ferretti Group's annual meeting split the board. Weichai Group, the Chinese conglomerate holding 39.5 percent of the company, backed Anastassov's slate; KKCG Maritime, the Swiss-based holder of 23 percent, wanted to keep Alberto Galassi, who had led Ferretti since 2014. Weichai's slate won with 52 percent of the vote, KKCG said it would contest the result with Italian authorities, and two board members, Piero Ferrari and Stefano Domenicali, resigned the day before the vote citing dissatisfaction with how the process had gone. Anastassov himself arrived with no prior yachting background: thirty years at Procter & Gamble, four of them as president and global CEO of Duracell, then a run advising boards in household appliances, batteries and technology. The warranty news followed the group picking up five awards at the 2026 World Yachts Trophies on 12 September, for the Riva 56' Rivale Super, the Riva 96' Argo Super, the Riva 54Metri, the Ferretti Yachts 720 and the Custom Line Navetta 35, all models that fall inside the composite range the new warranty extension actually covers.

Since taking the job he has repeated a version of the same line in public: 'I haven't come to change the Ferretti Group. I have come to help Ferretti Group become even more Ferretti Group,' he told Il Sole 24 Ore, adding that the group's seven brands are 'not a portfolio, it is a responsibility,' and that his aim is to be 'more proudly Italian, more relentlessly focused on our brands, more obsessed with quality, more determined to delight every owner.' A warranty extension is a small, concrete way to put a number behind that language before the group's first full model year under his leadership.

Does the Ferretti Quality Promise change whether to buy now?

For a buyer already choosing between composite Ferretti Group models, the extra year is a genuine, no-cost improvement to the cost of ownership; for a buyer looking at the metal-hulled flagships, or at a yacht ordered before September, it changes nothing.

The timing matters more than the headline. An owner who signs a contract for a Riva, a Pershing or a composite Ferretti Yachts model from 1 September 2026 gets a fourth year of cover on the systems most likely to generate a real claim, at no additional price quoted anywhere in the announcement. That is a straightforward improvement to total cost of ownership over the first four years, provided the owner is willing to service exclusively through Ferretti's own network rather than an independent yard, which the fine print requires. Put a name on it: a buyer signing for a Riva 56' Rivale Super, a Riva 96' Argo Super or a new Ferretti Yachts 720, three of the models the group just walked away from Cannes with an award for, is exactly the buyer this extension was built for.

It is a smaller win for anyone already committed. A contract signed in August, or a resale of a yacht already delivered, gets none of it, and the group has not said whether the policy will extend to used boats changing hands through its own brokerage arm. For the buyer eyeing a CRN or a large Custom Line Navetta, the calculus is unchanged: those are precisely the yachts where a fourth year of engineering cover would matter most, and precisely the ones the program leaves out.

What is good, and what to watch

Strong points

  • Real cost-of-ownership gainA fourth year of warranty on engines, systems and installation is the kind of coverage that actually gets used, and it costs a qualifying buyer nothing extra.
  • Targets where failures happenEngineering and functional systems, not paint and stitching, are where an owner's early claims usually land, so the coverage is aimed at the right place.
  • A concrete first moveIt gives a CEO with no prior yachting background a specific, measurable commitment to point to after a contested appointment, rather than another statement of intent.

What to watch

  • Excludes the priciest hullsAluminium and steel yachts, the group's largest and most expensive to service, get nothing, even within the 45-metre band the program otherwise covers.
  • Aesthetic defects are excludedCosmetic issues, often the first thing a new owner actually notices and complains about, fall outside the extension entirely.
  • Locks owners into one networkCoverage is conditional on servicing exclusively at official brand centers, closing off independent yards for the full extended period.
