Acciaio 130

The Acciaio 130 is the largest expression of CdM's stealth-explorer idea, a 39.4 metre with expedition range dressed in classic superyacht lines. Hull one, Presence, was launched in October 2025, sold through Edmiston and scheduled for handover in January 2026, the third Acciaio after Gatto and Astrum.

Steel, by name and by nature

Acciaio is Italian for steel, and the line takes the yard's material honesty as its brand. It began with the 32 metre Acciaio 105 Gatto in 2018 and the Acciaio 123 Astrum, launched in 2019 and handed over at the start of 2020, both yachts that hid serious autonomy inside profiles a Mediterranean marina would read as conventional luxury tonnage. Both found owners who used them exactly as intended, quietly and far from the show circuit, which is the best endorsement this species of yacht can earn.

The 130 scales the recipe to 39.42 metres and around 388 tonnes of displacement, with Hydro Tec once again responsible for the exterior and the naval architecture. Where the Darwin advertises its purpose and the Deep Blue dramatises it, the Acciaio deliberately underplays it. Only the bulbous bow and the tank capacity give the game away.

Presence, a spec build that found its owner

CdM built the first Acciaio 130 on speculation, a statement of confidence in the segment it created, and launched her as Presence in October 2025. Marketed with Edmiston as co-central agent and delivery scheduled for January 2026, she was sold in short order, continuing the yard's run of hulls that never reach their first boat show unsold. For a builder that historically sold off renderings years ahead of launch, building on its own account was less a gamble than a scheduling device, a way to offer the rare commodity of a nearly immediate delivery.

Her interior is by Giorgio M. Cassetta, described by the yard as contemporary and fresh, deliberately informal, in soft tones and natural materials. Twelve guests sleep in five cabins, an owner's suite plus four guest cabins, two of them with Pullman berths for children or staff, and a crew of seven runs the ship.

Expedition range and a 13.5 knot top end, hidden inside lines a marina reads as classic luxury tonnage.

Small engines, long legs

The 130 runs twin Caterpillar C18 diesels of 533 kilowatts each, modest power by 40 metre standards and entirely the point. The efficient hull with its bulbous bow tops out at 13.5 knots and cruises at ten, where the range opens past 5,000 nautical miles. Fuel burn at cruise is closer to a 30 metre's than to that of the planing 40 metres she shares harbours with.

Measured at 410GT, she carries less volume than the yard's 499GT maximalists, and the running-cost arithmetic follows the tonnage down. For owners who count operating budgets as carefully as build budgets, the Acciaio proposition is unusually legible. Less installed power, less gross tonnage, fewer crew, the same oceans available. Port fees, class surveys and certification all scale with tonnage too, so the 410GT measurement keeps paying for itself through every operating year of the boat's life.

The case for camouflage

There is a species of owner who wants to cross the Atlantic on their own keel and does not want to look like an oil-rig tender doing it. The Acciaio exists for exactly that buyer. Its raised pilothouse profile, balanced overhangs and conventional sheer read as timeless motor yacht, and the expedition capability stays a private fact between owner and captain.

The approach also future-proofs the boat aesthetically. Expedition styling is a fashion with a cycle, while the Acciaio's classic proportions have not dated since Gatto appeared in 2018. On the resale market that translates into a wider buyer pool, since the boat appeals to explorer clients and conventional displacement clients alike.

Inside the catalogue

Against the Deep Blue 130 and the Flexplorer 130's successors, the Acciaio 130 is the quiet sibling, no crane theatre, no flared beak, just volume, range and finish. It shares the yard's engineering DNA to the bolt, so choosing it sacrifices nothing structural. The decision is about how loudly a boat should announce what it can do.

Presence's quick sale suggests the answer for a meaningful slice of the market is quietly indeed. With hull one gone, the Acciaio 130 remains available as a new build on the same platform, specified cabin by cabin with Cassetta or a designer of the owner's choosing, on the yard's usual build cycle from Ancona.

A chi si rivolge: An owner who wants transoceanic autonomy and CdM engineering without expedition styling, and who values low running costs and a discreet profile over deck machinery and drama.

Prezzo indicativo: Trade press reported hull one, Presence, listed at EUR 25 million with Edmiston around her October 2025 launch. Treat that as a dated reference for a specified spec build, since new-build pricing moves with specification and market.
