Sirena 88

The Sirena 88 is the boat that turned a promising Turkish builder into a serious flagship yard. Launched in July 2019 and premiered at that year's Cannes Yachting Festival, the 26.81 metre flybridge yacht pairs a German Frers dual-mode hull with Cor D. Rover interiors and five-cabin volume, and it sold five hulls in its first five months on the market.

Five hulls in five months

When the first 88 entered the water in July 2019 she was the largest yacht Sirena had ever built, and the market answered immediately. BOAT International reported five of the new flagships sold within five months, one of them signed on the spot at Boot Dusseldorf in January 2020. For a brand then barely three years old, an order book like that settled the question of whether the 88 had landed on the right side of the value equation.

The 88 also defined what Sirena means at scale. The plumb bow, high freeboard and near-vertical superstructure read as an SUV of the sea, a phrase the press reached for, and the design brief weighted interior volume and seakeeping equally. Motor Boat and Yachting ran her directly against the semi-custom establishment in its review and treated the comparison as entirely fair, which was itself the point of arrival.

A hull with two speeds

German Frers drew the 88 around what the yard calls dual-mode hull technology. Run her at nine knots and she behaves like a displacement trawler, covering 2,460 nautical miles on the standard 12,000 litres of fuel with a ten percent reserve still in hand. Open the throttles and the standard pair of 1,550 hp MAN V12s delivers 25 knots, with 27 available from the optional 1,800 hp engines.

Owners planning serious passages can specify additional tankage, and press coverage around the launch put the extended range beyond 3,000 nautical miles. That flexibility is the model's core argument. One boat handles the short weekend hop at speed and the long summer migration at trawler pace, without forcing the compromises that usually come with committing to either extreme.

One hull, two characters, 25 knots when the weekend is short and 2,400 miles when it is not.

Five cabins and a raised pilothouse option

Cor D. Rover's interior spends the 7.1 metre beam on a five-cabin arrangement with two crew cabins, and a four-cabin alternative exists for owners who prefer larger guest spaces. A full-beam owner's suite anchors the accommodation, and the layouts are genuinely semi-custom, with the yard reworking the arrangement hull by hull around how each family intends to live aboard.

Yachting Magazine separately reviewed an 88 RPH, a raised pilothouse variant that lifts the helm out of the main deck and frees that real estate for living space. Structural flexibility of that order inside one mould set is unusual at 27 metres, and it reflects a yard still young enough, and hungry enough, to treat every hull as its own project.

Carbon, silence and Category A

The superstructure uses Sirena's hybrid carbon fibre lamination, taking weight out of the top of the boat and lowering the centre of gravity, which pays off directly in motion comfort in a beam sea. Certification is CE Category A, the ocean class, and the structure, tankage and systems are all drawn for genuine offshore work at full load rather than brochure conditions.

Sound insulation gets particular attention, with measured low noise levels marketed as a defining trait of the fleet. On a yacht intended to run 2,000 mile legs at displacement speed, the noise floor in the owner's cabin decides whether a passage feels like cruising or endurance, and it is the invisible specification experienced owners ask about first.

The value flagship

Price is part of the 88 story and the press said so plainly. Motor Boat and Yachting's tour presented her as a 4.9 million pound superyacht at a time when comparable northern European semi-custom flagships carried substantially higher asking prices. The standard specification is generous, which narrows the usual gap between the quoted number and sailaway reality.

Early hulls now circulate through the major American brokerages, a healthy signal for resale liquidity in the size band. Within the range the 88 has settled into the sweet spot as the composite line stretches to 36 metres above it, big enough for professional crew, five cabins and transocean legs, and still compact enough to remain a family boat first.

A chi si rivolge: An owner who wants flagship presence, five cabins and transocean capability from a crewed 27 metre, at a price that leaves visible headroom against the northern European names.

Prezzo indicativo: UK trade press presented an early hull at about GBP 4.9 million in 2021. Pricing moves with specification and market, so treat that as a dated reference point.
