Numarine's 21st explorer sells, and sub-40m keeps its lead
A 21st hull, and a 2027 date buyers can hold
Numarine has sold the 37XP that stands as the 21st boat across its explorer line, with the 37.1-metre yacht set to reach her owner in 2027. BOAT International and SuperYacht Times both carried the deal, and the yard framed the model as one of its most popular explorers 'in the sub-40-metre category.' The price was not disclosed, which is normal for a semi-custom new-build signed straight off a production slot.
For a buyer, the appeal of a boat like this sits in the arithmetic. A steel-hulled explorer under 40 metres crosses oceans on a crew you can count on one hand, and slips into marinas and yards that turn away anything larger. The owner trades the trophy length of a 50-metre-plus custom for range, reach and a running cost that does not swallow the whole reason to own a boat.
Series building beats the bespoke queue
The 37XP is one strand of a busy book. Numarine has nine projects on order or under construction, three of them the new 40MXP, a model that has now found a third owner. The XP range runs seven models, from the compact 22XP up to the 46.7-metre 47MXP tri-deck that now tops it, and even the 40MXP stops a shade under 40 metres, at 39.01 metres.
That matters because the top of the market is going the other way. Build costs have climbed and delivery windows at the marquee yards now stretch toward the end of the decade, which pushes near-term buyers into brokerage or toward yards that can name a date. A series builder that hands over a finished, proven platform in 2027 answers a question the custom queue cannot.
Turkey moves up the sub-40m table
The sale also reads as a marker for where these boats now come from. Turkey ranks second in the world for building yachts above 24 metres, with a record 146 projects on order or under way in 2025 and close to 5.9 per cent of the global fleet, according to BOAT International's country report. At the top end, Turquoise Yachts delivered the 88-metre Angelique, the largest yacht ever built in the country, per SuperyachtNews.
Numarine is not chasing that headline length. Its bet is the sub-40m explorer, the slice of the fleet that already carries the most hulls and the steadiest demand, and it is building there at volume while the northern yards concentrate on giants. For an owner weighing a capable explorer under 40 metres, the practical read now points to Istanbul more often than it used to.
