Rossinavi's 53m Heed Gives Her Owner a Counter-Current Pool

Rossinavi unveiled M/Y Heed in full on 29 September, eight months after launching her at Pisa, with a forward pool built for swimming against a current just outside the owner's suite. For an owner weighing a custom 53m fast-displacement yacht under 500 GT, she shows what two years of build buys, though no price has been published and the directories list her as not for sale.

What did Rossinavi reveal on 29 September?

On 29 September 2026 Rossinavi presented M/Y Heed, a 53m full-custom aluminium fast-displacement yacht under 500 GT, in her entirety after launching her at Pisa in January. She was built for a private owner with Matty Zadnikar of SeaNet SuperYachts acting as owner's representative.

The yard launched Heed at Pisa on 26 January 2026, and BOAT International puts the start of construction at January 2024, so the build ran about two years. Rossinavi says the project came out of a close dialogue between the yard and the owner, with exterior design by Alberto Mancini Yacht Design and interiors by Achille Salvagni Architetti. Zadnikar coordinated the designers and the construction. BOAT International's first look followed her debut at the Monaco Yacht Show in September, and the yard's full presentation came on the 29th.

BOAT International counts eight yachts on order or in build at Rossinavi, which suggests a yard with a full hall rather than a single showpiece. YachtBuyer's directory lists Heed under the Malta flag and as not for sale. That makes her a reference for what the yard delivers at this size, not a brokerage opportunity, and it is why every figure on this page is the builder's or a directory's rather than a buyer's.

What is the pool on Heed's upper deck for?

Heed's forward upper deck belongs entirely to the owner, with the suite opening through large glazing onto a private terrace and a pool with a counter-current system for swimming in place. A second pool sits in the aft beach club.

Rossinavi describes the forward pool as sitting directly ahead of the owner's suite and designed for swimming against the current as much as for relaxing, and BOAT International confirms the counter-current system. The yard says the terrace keeps its privacy while staying open to the horizon. Alberto Mancini said that working inside the 499 GT threshold let his studio rethink proportion and space with more freedom, and that putting the suite forward on the upper deck gives the owner a quieter, more intimate link to the sea.

The aft beach club carries its own pool and fold-down side platforms that widen the usable space at water level when she's at anchor. Above the owner's deck an observation deck is set aside as a quiet lookout. An onboard battery system lets her stay at anchor with the generators off, which the yard says cuts noise and vibration and gives zero local emissions in hotel mode. For an owner who sleeps aboard at anchor more nights than he cruises, that feature may matter more each evening than the pool does.

How is the inside of Heed designed?

Achille Salvagni's interior uses curved walls, bleached timbers and dark eucalyptus polished to a very high gloss, and it keeps dining and living in separate rooms on the main deck, which is unusual at this size.

Salvagni said he wanted the interior to feel as though it had not been designed at all but shaped by water, wind, light and time, a world suspended between the sea and the sky. Rossinavi's release says walls bend rather than end, ceilings rise and fall and furniture appears to grow out of the architecture. The materials run through brushed and bleached wenge floors, bleached teak walls, butter-coloured parchment and dark eucalyptus finished to a 100-gloss shine, with amaranth metal accents between copper and deep red meant to recall a Mediterranean sunset. Sofas are described as unfolding like waves and armchairs as recalling pebbles and shells, and doors and handles avoid conventional profiles.

The layout is the more practical news. On the main deck the dining room opens onto a fold-down starboard balcony and the main saloon is arranged as a landscape for conversation, with curved seating under full glazing. Salvagni frames the aim as emotional comfort, built from touch, curves, quiet materials and changing light. The photographs the yard released show a lit oval ceiling panel over the owner's bed and a sitting area with a sculptural desk.

What are Heed's specifications and performance?

Heed is 53.00m long (BOAT International rounds it to 52.7m) with a 9.10m beam, 2.50m draft and under 500 GT, and two Caterpillar C32 engines of 1,193 kW each drive shaft lines for a 14-knot cruise and an 18.5-knot top speed.

Rossinavi's own fleet page gives the length, the moulded beam and draft, a tonnage below 500 GT and aluminium for both hull and superstructure. The engines are two Cat C32 rated 1,193 kW at 2,300 rpm, about 1,600 hp each by our conversion, and the page quotes 4,000 nm at 10 knots. YachtBuyer's directory repeats the 18.5 and 14 knots and the range but gives 1,115 hp per engine, a figure that doesn't agree with the builder's kilowatts. A separate YachtBuyer article quotes 17 knots flat out and 13.3 knots cruising, so the outlet disagrees with itself too. We've used the yard's numbers and labelled the rest.

Rossinavi lists one owner's cabin and five guest cabins, with space for two owners and nine guests plus one more, and a captain's cabin plus four crew cabins for a crew of nine. YachtBuyer's directory says twelve guests and ten crew, so ask for the contract layout rather than trusting either count. Four thousand nm at 10 knots is 400 hours, nearly 17 days of steaming, which makes her a genuine transatlantic yacht on paper, although no tank capacity or fuel burn has been published. Measure the speed claim the same way: the gap between the builder's 18.5 knots and the 17 quoted elsewhere is 1.5 knots, small to a guest and large to an owner who has paid for it in the contract.

What should an owner take from Heed?

Heed shows that a sub-500 GT custom yacht at 53m can carry a private pool deck, a beach club and a battery hotel mode when the owner brings an owner's representative and the designers in from the start. Rossinavi hasn't published a price or a sea trial.

The 499 GT line is the practical frame. Mancini said working within it let the studio rethink proportion with more freedom, and Rossinavi pairs it with a fast-displacement aluminium hull. Zadnikar of SeaNet SuperYachts coordinated the designers and the builder, which is a model worth asking about before you commission a custom boat: one person whose whole job is the owner's side of the table.

Two years from the start of construction to launch, and eight months from launch to the full reveal, is a useful benchmark for a custom 53m. The first figure is the build time. The yard doesn't say what filled the eight months between launch and reveal, so ask whether it was commissioning and sea trials. Against that the public record offers no sea-trial numbers, no consumption figures, no tankage and no price, and every quote on the page comes from the yard or its designers. Treat Heed as a well-documented specification, not an independently tested boat.

What is good, and what to watch

Strong points

  • A forward deck that is the owner's aloneThe suite opens through large glazing onto a private terrace and a counter-current pool, a layout that keeps the best view private.
  • Quiet at anchorThe onboard battery system lets her run in hotel mode with the generators off, which the yard says gives zero local emissions.
  • Fully documented by the builderRossinavi publishes dimensions, engines, speeds, range and accommodation on its own fleet page, so there is a clear baseline to check.

What to watch

  • No independent dataNo sea trial, fuel burn or tank capacity has been published, and every quote comes from the yard or its designers.
  • Sources disagree on detailsLength, engine power and crew numbers differ between the builder, BOAT International and YachtBuyer, so check the contract specification.
  • Not a purchase optionThe directory lists her as not for sale, so she works as a reference for the yard's output, not a boat to buy.
