Exterior lines come from Filippo Salvetti, with interiors developed alongside the Ideaeitalia studio and the naval architecture handled by the Ferretti Group engineering department. The result reads as premium from the dock, with the sculpted glazing and long profile that mark out the newer fleet. Owners get a real taste of the full Ferretti world without stepping up to a 20 metre commitment.

Sleek glazing and a flybridge that overdelivers

Salvetti gave the 580 a leaner, more sculpted silhouette than the boat it succeeded, with large hull windows that pour light into the accommodation below. The flybridge is the headline. For an 18 metre boat it is unusually generous, offering a dining area, a wet bar and sunpads under an optional hard top that shades both the helm and the social space. Up here the 580 feels like a much larger yacht, and it is where owners will spend long lunches at anchor.

Forward, a proper bow lounge adds a second outdoor room, with opposing sofas and a walkaround sunpad that turns the foredeck into a private sun terrace. The aft cockpit flows down to a bathing platform that brings guests close to the water. Every deck earns its keep, and the walkarounds stay wide enough to move about safely under way. The main deck is open and bright, with a saloon and galley arrangement that can be specified to suit how an owner cruises. Natural light is everywhere thanks to the deep side glazing, and the finish mixes contemporary materials with the warmth expected of the marque. Storage is thoughtful and the single-level main deck makes the boat easy to enjoy for guests of every age. It feels calm and uncluttered inside.

Volvo power and easy handling

The 580 runs on twin Volvo Penta D13 diesels, offered at 900 or 1,000 hp each on shaft drive. Depending on specification the boat reaches a top speed in the region of 28 to 32 knots, with a comfortable fast cruise in the mid-20s. That is lively performance for the class and it gives owners the pace to hop between anchorages or make a longer coastal passage with ease. The hull is tuned for a soft, dry ride.

Displacement sits around 36 tonnes loaded, with roughly 3,250 litres of fuel aboard. The boat is sized to be handled by an owner-operator or a single crew member, which keeps running costs sensible for the size. Bow and stern thrusters and modern engine controls make close-quarters work in a busy marina straightforward. This is a yacht an owner can run themselves without feeling out of their depth.

The 580 suits the owner moving up from an open cruiser who wants an extra deck and a proper flybridge social life without jumping to a much larger boat. It is compact enough to keep berthing costs and handling manageable, yet generous enough to sleep a family in comfort.
