Flagship scale, semi-custom route
The 80 takes the Limited Editions thinking to its largest expression yet in the modern range. At 80 metres and around 2,175 GT it offers volume that owners once had to commission from scratch. The platform keeps the semi-custom promise of settled engineering with a personalised finish. First deliveries began from 2025. The platform brings series-build discipline to a size that once demanded a bespoke programme.
For Amels the 80 answers demand from owners who want flagship size with the predictability of a series build. It sits above the 60 as the range-topper of the current generation. The approach lets a buyer reach genuine large-yacht volume on a faster timeline than a full custom would allow. Early hulls have carried the platform into service. For the yard it is a notable extension of the Limited Editions promise.

Oeino at flagship length
Espen Oeino drew the exterior, carrying the bolder language of the modern range up to 80 metres. The profile is contemporary and substantial, with the scale to support extensive outdoor decks. A sun deck of roughly 200 square metres crowns the design, a large expanse for gathering and lounging. The look reads as current flagship rather than a scaled-up smaller boat. The proportions were drawn for the length rather than stretched to reach it.
Outdoor living was central to the brief. The design includes a large pool and a beach club that opens on multiple sides to the sea. Guests gain a wide choice of open spaces from the top deck down to the waterline. The exterior balances presence with a genuine connection to the water. The beach club opening to the sea is central to how the boat is meant to be lived in.

At 80 metres the Amels 80 takes the current Limited Editions range into full flagship volume.

Sinot shapes the volume
The interior concept came from Sinot Yacht Architecture and Design, a first collaboration between the Dutch studio and Amels. Around 2,175 GT of volume gives the studio real room to work. The layout centres on a grand suite set on a dedicated owner's deck, with further guest cabins on the main deck. The yacht accommodates 14 guests in flagship comfort. Bringing in Sinot signalled the yard's intent to compete at the top of the market.
Beyond the cabins, the interior includes a wellness spa and a gym among its amenities. A winter garden features as well, bringing greenery and light into the accommodation. The beach club at the waterline extends the living space to the sea when at anchor. The volume allows generous ceiling heights and broad glazing throughout. The wellness spaces reflect how owners increasingly want to spend their time aboard.

Efficient power for the size
The 80 rides on a displacement steel hull with an aluminium superstructure. Propulsion comes from a pair of CAT 3516C diesels, each rated at around 2,816 hp, giving a top speed near 16 knots. The platform was designed with a hybrid system aimed at efficiency and lower emissions. That focus suits an owner planning extended, wide-ranging use. The hybrid element is aimed squarely at owners thinking about fuel and emissions.
At a 12-knot cruise the range reaches roughly 5,000 nautical miles, comfortably ocean-capable for a yacht of this volume. The draft of around 3.6 metres is modest for an 80-metre boat, opening more anchorages than the size implies. The engineering leans on proven components in keeping with the range. Efficiency was a stated priority throughout the design. The modest draft is a quiet but real advantage at this size.

Who buys an 80
The 80 is aimed at owners who want true flagship volume without a fully bespoke, multi-year programme. The Sinot interior and Oeino exterior give it design credentials to match custom rivals. Its scale suits owners hosting large groups and travelling widely. The efficiency focus appeals to those mindful of running costs and regulation. It answers a buyer who wants a very large yacht without a blank-sheet commission.
As the range-topper of the current generation, the 80 extends the Limited Editions upward into territory the yard previously reserved for custom work. Early demand has carried the platform into production and delivery from 2025. Owners gain flagship presence on a more predictable path. It marks the ceiling of the modern semi-custom range. Where the Limited Editions range goes above this size remains an open question for the yard, and one that owners will watch with interest.
The fourth hull in a very young flagship line
Pangea, delivered in the summer of 2025, was only the first of what Damen Yachting says are four confirmed Amels 80 sales, with two further hulls due in 2026. Rose Damen, the yard's managing director, has described the brief behind the line as wanting owners' families to feel like they could easily connect with the sea, a deliberately less formal target than the flagship's 80-metre length might suggest.
Burgess represented Pangea's owner throughout the build, and the yard's own account of the project credits the owner with personally overseeing much of the design development rather than leaving it to a design team - unusually hands-on for a semi-custom platform bought largely for its speed to delivery. Espen Oeino, who drew her exterior, has said he expects the lines to look as good in ten years as the day she is delivered, a claim that only time will actually test. Sinot's lead designer Paul Costerus has said the practice treats materials so their natural character stays as pure as possible, a style he describes as distinctive enough that an owner can still add their own personal stamp on top of it rather than inheriting a fixed look.
المحركات والأنظمة
| Propulsion architecture | Diesel-electric hybrid system: generator sets drive electric propulsion motors, enabling quieter, lower-vibration cruising and reduced emissions versus direct diesel drive; one brokerage spec sheet names twin Caterpillar 3516E main engines at 2,816hp each - single-sourced, not independently confirmed elsewhere. |
|---|---|
| Battery/energy storage | Not disclosed by any source found, including Damen's own delivery release - the propulsion is consistently described as hybrid diesel-electric without a published battery capacity (kWh) or generator count/rating. |
| Speed and range | 12 knots cruise / 16.5 knots maximum, 5,000nm range at 12 knots, consistent across most sources; one lower-quality aggregator instead reports 13 knots cruise / 16.6 knots max. |
| Fuel and water tankage | 210,000 litres fuel / 52,000 litres fresh water per SuperyachtFan, YachtCharterFleet and a NAU Yachts spec sheet - but Boat International's own Superyacht Directory instead lists ~15,457L fuel / ~2,455L water, a roughly 13x discrepancy likely reflecting a database error on Boat International's side. |
| Classification | Lloyd's Register 100 A1 SSC YACHT MONO G6 - from a single brokerage spec sheet (NAU Yachts), not independently cross-confirmed. |
| Tender/support systems | Forward-mounted tender garage accommodating limousine tenders up to 11.5m, plus an electric-tender fast-charging station option in the garage. |
| Stabilisers, thrusters, watermaker, engine-room access | Not disclosed in any source found for this model - omitted rather than guessed. |

The first owner drove the design personally, not just the yard
With much of the design development of the yacht personally overseen by the owners, we believe this will be one of the standout yachts entering into operation in 2025.

Sea trials in June gave the project team a unique opportunity to experience firsthand the innovation, design, and power that this yacht delivers, ahead of her summer 2025 delivery as Pangea.

نقاط القوة وما يستدعي الانتباه
نقاط القوة
- Semi-custom speed at flagship scaleThe Limited Editions platform cuts build time to roughly two years versus four-plus for a full custom yacht this size, because hull, naval architecture and major engineering are proven and shared across hulls.
- Hybrid diesel-electric propulsion at 80mA diesel-electric system feeding electric propulsion motors allows quieter, lower-vibration, lower-emission cruising than a conventional direct-drive flagship of this size - genuinely uncommon at 80m rather than just a marketing label.
- Independent award recognitionWon Superyachts 70-80m at the 2025 Yacht Style Awards and was a finalist at the World Yachts Trophies 2025, with a nomination for the World Superyacht Awards 2026.
- Real differentiation despite a shared hullEach delivered hull looks and feels distinct: Pangea's natural-material Sinot interior, Netto II's custom dolphin-blue hull and 1960s-casino-style speakeasy bar, and Germaine's contemporary-art-led interior from a different design team - customization goes deeper than paint.
- Strong reported resale positioningBrokers cite an average price reduction from asking of about 3.9% for Amels yachts on the secondhand market - better than the segment average - attributed to Dutch build quality, the Limited Editions platform's proven engineering, and Amels' after-sales/refit network. Broker market commentary, not an independent audit.
ما يستدعي الانتباه
- Heavy crew-to-guest ratio21 crew for 14 guests is one of the highest ratios in the 80m class, meaning a large fixed payroll and accommodation cost relative to the number of guests actually served.
- Delivery lead times have stretched sharplyEarly hulls built in roughly two years, but a hull sold in 2026 now carries a spring 2029 delivery date - around three years out - undercutting some of the platform's original fast semi-custom pitch for anyone ordering today.
- Individuality is skin-deepThe hull, naval architecture and exterior silhouette are identical across every unit, all built by Damen to the same Espen Oeino exterior; true customization is confined to interiors, paint and finishes, unlike a full-custom build at this length.
- No reliability track record yet on the headline systemThe hybrid diesel-electric propulsion is the flagship's marquee engineering story, but Pangea only entered service in late 2025 - there is no multi-year maintenance or reliability history yet, and no source discloses battery/energy-storage capacity despite universal hybrid branding.
- Published specs disagree even from major sourcesBoat International's own Superyacht Directory lists Pangea's fuel and water tankage at roughly 15,457L / 2,455L, while SuperyachtFan, YachtCharterFleet and a NAU Yachts spec sheet all independently give 210,000L fuel / 52,000L water - a roughly 13x discrepancy, most likely a data error in Boat International's database rather than a real spec difference.

| Approximate new-build price | Not disclosed by the yard; brokerage listings for new-build Amels 80 slots quote asking prices in the region of EUR 185-195 million, varying with configuration and finish level. |
|---|---|
| Crew complement | 21 crew (some listings say up to 20 plus captain) for 14 guests - a notably heavy ratio that feeds directly into running costs. |
| Estimated running/maintenance costs | Brokers estimate annual maintenance for Amels yachts generally at 5-10% of purchase price - roughly EUR 10-19 million a year on a ~EUR 190 million hull, per broker commentary, not a yard-published figure. |
| How a sale is arranged | Sold privately through brokers rather than the yard directly - different Amels 80 hulls have been placed via Burgess, Y.CO, and jointly by Boatsters Black and Bjorn International Brokerage. |
| Charter availability | None of the three delivered hulls (Pangea, Netto II, Germaine) is currently listed for charter - all are confirmed in private owner use as of the latest listings checked. |
| What to check before buying | Delivery-slot lead time above all: early hulls delivered in about two years, but a hull sold in 2026 carries a spring 2029 delivery date, so confirm the actual slot and build sequence being sold, not the platform's original headline build time. |
