Ferretti Yachts 1000

Presented in 2021, the 1000 was the largest yacht Ferretti Yachts had built at its launch. At just over 30 metres it brings MTU power, a raised pilothouse and a five-cabin, ten-guest layout to the top of the flybridge range.

The largest flybridge Ferretti

The 1000 arrived in 2021 as the biggest yacht Ferretti Yachts had produced up to that point. At 30.13 metres overall it crowned the flybridge range and pushed the brand into true superyacht territory. Its number follows the house habit of approximating length, here pointing to a boat close to 100 feet. The model marked a milestone for a yard long associated with smaller flybridge cruisers.

Reaching 30 metres let Ferretti fit accommodation and systems on a superyacht scale. The 1000 carries ten guests in five cabins with quarters for five crew. A raised pilothouse and an upper flybridge deck give the profile its layered look. The yard later added a Skydeck version to broaden the choice at the top of the line.

Salvetti scale and a raised pilothouse

Filippo Salvetti drew the exterior, translating the family look onto the largest canvas in the range. A raised pilothouse lifts the helm and frees the main deck for owner and guest space. Long glazing and a low superstructure keep the 30 metre profile sleek. Teak decking and a transom beach area follow the pattern of the smaller boats.

The extra length pays off in deck volume. A large flybridge sits above the pilothouse as the main social deck, with a further cockpit and foredeck below. Side decks are wide and secure for movement at this scale. The styling holds the brand identity so the 1000 reads clearly as a Ferretti despite its size.

Superyacht space by Ideaeitalia

Ideaeitalia dressed the interior, using the 30 metre hull to create genuinely large living areas. The main-deck saloon and dining space open through full-height glazing to the sea. An owner's suite sits on the main deck, a feature the length makes possible. Materials and finishes carry the elegant, contemporary tone Ferretti aims for at the top of the range.

The accommodation plan holds five cabins for ten guests, with the owner served on the main deck and further cabins below. Crew quarters and service areas are kept apart to run the yacht discreetly. Large hull windows bring light into the lower cabins. The layout gives the space and privacy expected of a superyacht.

MTU power at 30 metres

The 1000 runs twin MTU 16V 2000 diesels, offered as the M86 at 2,186 hp or the stronger M96L at 2,600 hp. Top speed reaches about 28 knots, with cruising speeds in the 20 to 24 knot band. The planing GRP hull was engineered by the Ferretti department to stay composed at this size and pace. These MTU units suit a yacht that covers distance at a fast cruise.

At 30 metres the 1000 depends on its systems for comfort and control. Stabilisation and thruster-assisted berthing are part of the superyacht package at this scale. The raised pilothouse gives the captain a commanding view for handling a large hull. Sound and vibration work keeps the accommodation quiet under way.

At the top of the range

The 1000 suits an owner stepping into superyacht ownership while staying with a familiar flybridge brand. It carries ten guests and full crew for extended cruising across the Mediterranean and further afield. The main-deck owner's suite and the scale of the interior are its strongest draws. Running costs match a 30 metre yacht rather than the smaller boats below it.

In the market the 1000 meets 30 metre planing yachts from other leading builders. Its argument rests on the Salvetti styling and the Ideaeitalia interior, carried by the standing of the Ferretti name at this size. As the range flagship for its era it carried the brand's ambitions upward. The later Skydeck variant widened its appeal further.

What the one published sea trial found

Fortescue's piece for BOAT International, published in the March 2022 issue, is the fullest independent account of the 1000 to date, but it is a tour rather than a sea trial. He praised the interior's shift toward a warmer, more residential feel, the work of IdeaeItalia's Alessio Battistini alongside exterior designer Filippo Salvetti, and noted the hull's clever use of space: roughly 30-metre amenities, including a full-beam owner's suite and five ensuite cabins, packed onto a 24-metre waterline. He judged the aft cockpit the least inventive part of an otherwise ambitious layout.

What he could not do was verify the number that matters most to a buyer choosing between the standard and milder engine options. The standard twin MTU 16V 2000 M96L diesels, at 2,638hp a side, are quoted for 28 knots top speed and a 24-knot cruise; the alternative MTU M86 pairing trades that for 24 knots top and 20 knots cruise, presumably with better range from the 9,000-litre tank. Neither figure has been confirmed by an outside sea trial. Ferretti's own commercial chief, Stefano de Vivo, has described the 1000 as the missing link between the Ferretti Yachts and Custom Line ranges, but that is the yard's account of its own product, not an independent one.

Price and the used market

BOAT International reported the 1000's list price at EUR 7.9m when the flagship launched in 2022, a figure that covers the base specification before the owner's choice of engine, interior package and equipment. Ferretti offers the interior in two distinct styles, classic and contemporary, both developed with IdeaeItalia, so two boats at the same list price can look substantially different inside. Used listings tracked through itBoat in 2026 put a two-year-old example from EUR 10.25m and other pre-owned boats from EUR 10.7m, both above the original list figure, which points to heavily optioned early hulls rather than genuine appreciation.

What is missing from the public record is any independently verified running-cost or service-interval figure, and no outside source has yet published a maximum range at cruise for either engine option. For a flagship this new, that gap is expected rather than a failure of reporting: the boat has not yet been in service long enough to generate the kind of owner-forum and haul-out data that exists for older, more common ranges.

What owners and crew report

What is good, and what to watch

Strong points

  • Big-boat amenities on a smaller waterlineA full-beam main-deck owner's suite and five ensuite cabins fit onto a 24-metre waterline hull, which is normally a 30-metre yacht's proportions.
  • Genuinely bright below decksLarge windows and side-deck glass doors keep the lower decks lit rather than cave-like, a common complaint on flybridge yachts this size.

What to watch

  • No confirmed top speedThe only published test to date could not verify the claimed 28-knot top speed because the test boat was port-bound, so the headline performance figure is still unverified by an independent source.
  • Least inventive part of an ambitious designReviewers singled out the aft cockpit as the one conventional space on an otherwise ambitious layout.
