Successor to a best-seller

The 860 replaced the Ferretti 850, one of the most popular models the yard had built, and slotted into the range between the 780 and the larger boats above. Ferretti announced it in 2021 and gave it a world debut at the Cannes Yachting Festival in 2022. At 26.95 metres it is a proper crewed flybridge yacht rather than an owner-driver boat. The task was to evolve a proven platform without losing what made the 850 sell.

Barche Magazine framed the 860 as a significant evolution of the earlier boat. It keeps the four-cabin, eight-guest layout owners expect at this size, with quarters for five crew. The full-beam master sits amidships on the lower deck, joined by two doubles and a twin. A forward living area on the main deck adds a quieter retreat away from the main saloon.

Salvetti proportions at 27 metres

Filippo Salvetti drew the exterior, carrying the family look up to almost 27 metres. Long window lines and a low superstructure keep the profile sleek despite the volume inside. A teak-laid deck runs through the cockpit and up to a large flybridge shaded by a hardtop. The GRP hull and superstructure hold weight down for the MAN V12s below.

The deck plan gives generous social areas fore and aft. The main cockpit seats a crowd for dinner and steps to a swim platform at the transom. An Ideaeitalia interior with Deco notes

Ideaeitalia dressed the interior, and press coverage picked up on its Art Deco references in the joinery and detailing. The main saloon runs open to a formal dining area, with full-height glazing down both sides. Materials lean on rich woods and polished metals for a warmer mood than the paler boats lower in the range. Owners could specify finishes to personalise the feel.

Accommodation follows the crewed-yacht template. The amidships master runs full beam with large hull windows and a private bathroom, while a VIP and further cabins house the rest of the party. Crew cabins and a galley sit apart so service stays discreet. The forward main-deck lounge gives the owner's family a calm space separate from guests.

MAN V12 power

The standard 860 runs twin MAN V12 diesels at 1,800 hp each, with a 2,000 hp option for owners wanting more. Ferretti quotes a top speed near 32 knots on the stronger setup. Range at a sensible cruise sits around 310 nautical miles, in keeping with a fast planing yacht of this size. The Ferretti engineering department handled naval architecture and hull tuning.

At almost 27 metres the 860 leans on its systems for comfort. Owners specify from the equipment expected of a crewed yacht at this size, including stabilisation and thruster-assisted berthing.
