The model matters because it shows the crossover concept working at the largest scale. It offers the range and standards of an ocean yacht together with a top speed most displacement superyachts cannot approach. That duality is the point of the whole GranSport range, delivered here in its most ambitious form. It gave Overmarine a flagship in the crossover class, a boat that showed what the yard could do at the top of its range. For owners the 54 answered a demand for real long distance capability without abandoning pace.
A sword from bow to stern
Alberto Mancini drew the exterior with what he called sporty but never aggressive lines, describing the profile as a sword running from stern to bow. The styling borrows from cars in details such as the stern air intakes and the shaping around the helm windows. The hull and superstructure are both aluminium, chosen to save weight on a yacht that still has to run fast. The finish holds a consistent line between hull and superstructure that keeps the long silhouette clean.
The 54 measures around 54 metres with a beam near 9 metres and stays under 500 GT. Outdoor living is a major theme, with about 275 square metres of open area spread across the flybridge and the beach club. Those spaces give shaded and open options for dining and lounging through the day. On El Leon the owner added a full office and a garage sized for a 7.5 metre tender, reflecting a plan to work at sea as well as cruise.

Elegant volume in aluminium
The interior pairs teak floors laid with white joints against leather ceilings, with furniture in walnut and ebony finished with lacquer detailing. Headroom runs beyond 2.1 metres, and LED lighting is used throughout to lift the spaces. Large windows and skylights bring in natural light and keep the volume feeling open. The design holds a calm harmony of surfaces so the eye moves easily from one room to the next. Overmarine Group's design office developed the interior as a custom commission for the owner.
Accommodation takes up to twelve guests in five cabins, with berths for nine crew. The generous beam and the aluminium structure free up volume that the layout turns into wide social rooms and comfortable cabins. El Leon's brief for a dedicated office shows how far the interior can be tailored to an owner's way of using the boat. As with every GranSport, no two interiors are alike.
Four shafts and transatlantic legs
Power comes from four MTU 16V 2000 M96L engines of 2,600 hp each, driving four shaft lines with fixed pitch propellers. That gives a top speed just under 30 knots at half load, high for a displacement hull of this size. Cruising sits around 20 knots for faster passages. The four shaft layout spreads the power and suits the fast displacement hull form.
The 54 earns its crossover billing through range. Dropping to an economical 12 to 12.5 knots stretches the range beyond 4,200 nautical miles, enough for El Leon's Atlantic crossings. The aluminium build keeps displacement near 410 tonnes at full load, which helps both the speed and the reach. Zero speed and under way stabilisers keep the yacht comfortable at anchor and on long legs. Naval architecture came from the Ausonio studio in Viareggio.
