Where the 6X sits in the X Generation
The 6X arrived at the Cannes Yachting Festival in 2021 as the second-smallest boat in Pershing's X Generation, slotting in above the 5X and below the 7X. At 18.94 metres it is a genuine day-and-weekend machine that still carries three ensuite cabins below. For many buyers this is the first Pershing large enough to cruise properly and small enough to handle with a single crew member. It has become one of the busiest models in the yard's order book. Owners can specify it as a pure open coupe with the sliding roof and retractable doors that define the look.
Fulvio De Simoni, the designer behind every Pershing for decades, shaped the 6X to read as a scaled expression of the larger X boats. The long bow, low coupe roofline and wraparound glass are all present in miniature. Owners moving up from a sportboat find the proportions familiar and the performance a clear jump. A profile built for speed and light
The 6X wears one of the most aerodynamic profiles in its class, with a raked bow and a hardtop that flows into the superstructure. Large glazed panels set into the hull sides flood the lower deck with daylight, a signature of the whole X Generation. A dark glass sliding roof opens the saloon to the sky at the touch of a button. The reshaped aft sundeck gives sunbathers a clear stretch of teak above the engine room.
Detailing follows the sporting brief right across the exterior. A carbon and teak dining table sits in the cockpit for lunches at anchor, and a forward chaise lounge with a reclining backrest turns the foredeck into a private sun terrace. Step through the fully retractable sliding door and the main deck opens as a single bright volume. Openable front windows and the sliding roof keep air moving on warm days. It feels far larger than an 18-metre boat has any right to.
Down below the 6X carries three ensuite cabins. A full-beam owner's suite amidships takes the widest part of the hull, a VIP sits forward, and a twin guest cabin lies to starboard. The materials are pure Pershing, with lacquered and plain wood, parquet floors, Mastrotto and Poltrona Frau leathers, and mirrored panels in the owner's cabin. Natural light pours in through the hull windows even on the lower deck. A day head sits off the saloon so guests need not go below during the day.
48 knots on surface drives
Twin MAN V12 engines of 1,550 hp each drive the 6X through Top System surface drives. The result is a top speed of 48 knots and a fast cruise of around 42 knots. At those numbers the boat stays composed, with the surface drives trimming the running attitude for efficiency and control. Range at cruise is close to 280 nautical miles.
The hull is engineered for high-speed stability, keeping the ride flat and the helm precise when the throttles go down. A light displacement of around 34 tonnes helps the boat accelerate hard and turn cleanly. A 3,200-litre fuel tank supports coastal hops between marinas and islands. Handling at low speed stays easy enough for owner-drivers to berth without stress. The surface drives lift much of the running gear clear of the water, cutting drag as the speed climbs.
