Pershing GTX80

The GTX80 is Pershing's take on the sport utility yacht, trading a little top speed for far more deck space, a beach club and easy main-deck living. Delivered from 2024 as the second model in the GTX range, it runs on triple Volvo IPS pods to a relaxed 34 knots. It is the Pershing for owners who want volume as much as pace.

A different kind of Pershing

The GTX80 represents a deliberate widening of what a Pershing can be. Where the X Generation chases outright speed, the GTX range asks how much usable space and comfort the yard can build into a boat that still cruises hard. Delivered from 2024 as the second model in the line after the GTX116, the 80 brought the sport utility concept to a more accessible size. At just under 24 metres it offers the volume of a much larger yacht through clever use of beam and deck layout. It signalled that Pershing intended the GTX idea to become a full family rather than a one-off experiment.

The model landed to strong reviews and won design recognition on launch, which helped establish the GTX badge in the market. It answers a clear demand for yachts that carry a crowd in comfort for a day on the water while keeping real pace in reserve. The 80 competes with a growing class of wide-body sports cruisers from Italian and northern rivals. It has broadened Pershing's reach toward buyers who found the X boats too focused. In doing so it has become an important volume model for the yard.

Beam put to work

The GTX80 keeps a recognisably Pershing face, with a low screen and a sharp bow, but the body behind it is shaped for space rather than pure speed. The main deck runs at a single level and opens out through folding cockpit terraces that push the beam outward when the boat is at anchor. A large sportsbridge above adds an upper social zone and a second helm. The stern carries a proper beach club with access close to the water. The whole layout is built around spending time aboard rather than only moving quickly.

Design detail favours indoor and outdoor living flowing together, with big glazing and sliding doors linking the saloon to the cockpit. A carbon-fibre sundeck of around 23 square metres saves weight high up, which helps stability and handling. The tender and toys stow in a garage that keeps the aft deck clear for guests. Materials and finishes carry the contemporary Italian style the brand favours. The result feels more like a fast, open loft on the water than a traditional sports yacht.

The GTX80 trades a few knots for a beach club and a main deck built to host a crowd.

Four cabins and galley-up living

Below deck the GTX80 offers four cabins for eight guests, all arranged on the lower deck, with a two-berth crew cabin to keep service discreet. The full-beam owner's suite takes advantage of the wide hull, and the guest cabins are generous for the length. A galley-up arrangement on some layouts keeps the cook connected to the main social space, which suits the entertaining brief. Hull windows and large glazing fill the accommodation with light. The feel below is bright, wide and calm.

The interior is planned around a boat that hosts numbers rather than one built purely for a couple. Social spaces on the main deck and in the cockpit take priority, and the cabins serve as comfortable retreats. Finishes can be specified to taste through the Ferretti Group's material options. Storage and service areas are sized for full days aboard with guests. The layout reflects the sport utility idea, where deck life leads and the interior supports it.

Triple IPS for ease and pace

The GTX80 is powered by three Volvo Penta D13 IPS1350 pod drives of 1,000 hp each, a package chosen for efficiency and ease as much as for speed. It delivers a top speed of 34 knots and a cruise around 28 knots, brisk for a wide-body yacht of this volume. The IPS pods bring joystick docking and strong fuel efficiency, which matters on a boat meant for relaxed use. The triple installation spreads the power and keeps the running gear compact. It is a more forgiving setup than the surface drives of the X boats.

The engineering priorities differ from the fast X models, with comfort and manageability leading over outright pace. Even so, 34 knots keeps the GTX80 firmly in sports-yacht territory rather than displacement cruising. The pod drives make the boat easy for an owner or a small crew to handle in tight marinas. Weight saved in the carbon sundeck and elsewhere helps both speed and stability. The 80 is quick enough to feel like a Pershing while being calm enough to run every day.

For the host, not the racer

The GTX80 suits an owner whose priority is entertaining and comfort, with speed as a welcome extra rather than the whole point. It works for larger family groups and social gatherings, where deck space and the beach club matter more than a top-speed figure. Ease of handling makes it approachable for owners who prefer light crew or none for day use. The boat fits the marinas and cruising grounds of the Mediterranean and beyond. It broadens the brand toward buyers who want a Pershing to relax on.

As a recent model the GTX80 sits mostly in the new and nearly new market, where early hulls are only now appearing for resale. Its design awards and its role in launching the GTX family support its standing. Pricing reflects specification and remains best confirmed per boat given the model's youth. For buyers weighing an X model against a GTX, the 80 makes the case for space and versatility. It has quickly found an audience among owners who value time aboard over time at speed.
