Damen sells second Xplorer 60 new-build for 2028 delivery

A second hull, sold before steel

Damen Yachting has sold the second hull of its Xplorer 60 series, with TWW Yachts brokering the deal through Alex Heyes and a 2028 delivery on the contract. The new build joins the managed fleet alongside the earlier Xplorer boats After You and Emotional.

The 60-metre carries an explorer brief: a 5,000-nautical-mile range and up to 30 days of self-sufficient cruising, with room for 12 guests across six suites. It is a series platform rather than a full custom, which is a large part of why a second buyer signed early.

What the sale signals

For TWW Yachts this is the third new-build Damen placed inside a year, a run that says buyers are still committing capital three years out for range-led explorer tonnage. Series explorers give a yard a predictable order book and a buyer a shorter, better-defined delivery than a bespoke project.

Explorer demand has held up through a market where days-on-market for used tonnage has stretched. New-build orders at this size are a cleaner read on confidence than brokerage turnover, because a buyer is funding a three-year commitment rather than clearing existing inventory.

The owner's calculus

An explorer buyer is paying for autonomy and reach, not marina profile, so range and endurance numbers do the selling. A 5,000-mile leg and 30 days off the dock open cruising grounds a coastal yacht cannot reach and reduce the operating dependence on fuel and provisioning hubs.

Buying a second series hull also means the first is already in build to validate the platform, which lowers the technical risk an owner carries into 2028. That combination of proven design and defined delivery is what keeps this class moving while custom queues lengthen.
