Where the RJ Class was heading all along
The RJ Class began in 2021 with the 40 metre RJ 130, the first CdM line styled by Francesco Paszkowski, and grew into a four boat family at 102, 115, 130 and 155 feet. The 155 is its full expression, a 46.78 metre, 499 GT flagship delivered in 2025 as the biggest new build in the yard's history, with two RJ 115s and the original 130 already in service ahead of her.
The premise of the line is different from the Darwin's workboat honesty. Paszkowski's architecture is clean, horizontal and deliberately understated, closer to a modern villa on the water than to a converted trawler. The explorer content has not been diluted to get there. It has been concealed, which is precisely the point for owners who want the capability without broadcasting it from a fishing-boat profile.
Salvagni below decks, and a double award
Interiors are by Salvagni Architetti, the Rome studio of Achille Salvagni, working in soft curved surfaces, bespoke furniture and a palette that reads more collector's apartment than production yacht. Ten guests sleep in five staterooms, with the owner's suite forward on the main deck, and a crew of nine in five cabins keeps service ratios close to one to one.
At the 2026 BOAT International Design and Innovation Awards the first RJ 155 was recognised for both her exterior and her interior design, a rare double for any yacht and rarer still for an explorer. For a category long treated as the plain, practical corner of yachting, a CdM hull collecting design silverware against conventional superyachts marks how far the yard has moved the genre.
A rare double at the 2026 Design and Innovation Awards, exterior and interior, for an explorer yacht.
Commercial-grade bones under the tailoring
Naval architecture was developed by CdM's in-house technical office with Pierluigi Ausonio Naval Architecture, and the construction speaks the yard's usual dialect. Steel hull, aluminium superstructure, a 12 millimetre keel plate, twin independent rudders and scantlings drawn with the margins of a builder whose roots are in commercial shipping. The beam runs to 8.85 metres and the whole ship measures 499 GT.
Outside, the RJ concept trades the Flexplorer's convertible working deck for roughly 200 square metres of finished exterior living across three decks, including a large sea-level beach area aft. The distinction matters when choosing between the lines. The Flexplorer is organised around launching and recovering equipment, while the RJ is organised around living beautifully on passage and at anchor.
Fifteen knots, five thousand miles
Twin Caterpillar C32 ACERT engines, EPA Tier 3 compliant, drive the 155 to 15 knots flat out and a comfortable 12 knot cruise. Slow the ship to economical speed and 66,400 litres of fuel translate into roughly 5,000 nautical miles of range, which is transatlantic with margin, or Mediterranean to Caribbean and onward without touching a fuel dock.
As on every CdM, the machinery space is sized for maintenance at sea, with full headroom and clear access around each engine. The electrical and hotel systems carry the redundancy expected of a yacht whose itineraries are assumed to include places with no shore support. It is over-engineering by marina standards and exactly correct by expedition ones.
Sold, resold and validated
The first RJ 155 was delivered to her owner in 2025, and within months the award-winning flagship changed hands in an off-market sale reported by BOAT International. Near-new CdM tonnage rarely lingers. The yard's order book and the speed of that transaction tell the same story, demand for delivered explorer yachts of this quality runs ahead of supply. The yard itself treated her launch as a company milestone and a proof of scale, and the lessons of her build feed directly into the 165s now taking shape in the same sheds.
For a buyer, the RJ 155 sits at the top of the yard's series offering, below only one-off territory. She suits an owner stepping across from a conventional 50 metre who refuses the visual cliches of the expedition genre but wants its substance, the range, the volume, the sea-keeping and the under-500 GT operating economics that CdM has made its signature.
Motoren und Technik
| Engines | Twin Caterpillar C32 Acert diesels, 895 kW (about 1,200 hp) each; described variously as WOSR and EPA Tier 3 spec across different listings. |
|---|---|
| Top speed | 15 knots, consistent across every source checked. |
| Cruise speed | Reported inconsistently: 12 knots per Cantiere delle Marche's own launch release, its fleet page and YachtBuyer, versus 9 knots per Boat International's delivery report and an earlier Megayacht News preview. Flagged as a genuine conflict in the yard's own materials, not resolved here. |
| Range | Reported inconsistently: 5,000-plus nautical miles at 10 knots (Boat International, CdM's launch release) versus 4,000 nautical miles at 12 knots on CdM's own RJ Class 155 model page. Both figures come from the builder; treated as a stated conflict. |
| Fuel tankage | Reported as both 65,000 litres (Megayacht News, Boat International) and 66,400 litres (CdM's launch release and model page). |
| Fresh water / watermakers | Not documented in any source checked. |
| Stabilisers | Two pairs of electric stabilisers (CMC Marine), for use at rest and underway. |
| Bow thruster / generators | Not documented in any source checked. |
| Hull and naval architecture | Full-displacement steel hull with aluminium superstructure and teak decking. Naval architecture by Cantiere delle Marche's in-house team with Pierluigi Ausonio. Full-load displacement 510 tonnes. Gross tonnage reported as 498 or 499 GT, kept deliberately just under the 500 GT regulatory threshold. |
| Guest and crew configuration | Reported as both 10 guests in 5 staterooms (CdM's own RJ 155.39 fleet page, Boat International) and 12 guests (CdM's launch release, Megayacht News, Boat International's interior feature, Arcon's new-build listing); CdM's model page clarifies this as 10 base plus 2 convertible pullman berths, which likely explains the spread. Crew is consistently reported as 9, in 5 crew cabins. |
| Tenders and toys | Dedicated toy and tender stowage in the foredeck garage and lazarette; no specific tender make or model published. |
| Notable amenities | Owner's suite forward on the main deck with a private gym; interior finished entirely in koto wood with no painted surfaces, described by designer Achille Salvagni as a subtle Japanese-inspired scheme; three decks plus a sundeck with large alfresco social areas on every level. |
Was Eigner und Crew berichten
The owner is a repeat Cantiere delle Marche client, moving up from the smaller RJ130 to RJ155 on the same design philosophy
"The enthusiasm we felt onboard the RJ 130 made us decide to grow once again. We wanted to take the same Elegant Explorer philosophy to the next level in performance, comfort, and customization." The same owner is separately quoted saying: "My wife and I love elegant and essential style, nothing unnecessarily flashy and disconnected from practicality."
The yacht's owner, not named in any press coverage found, quoted by YachtBuyer and separately by Megayacht NewsThe captain designed the storage and stabilization around real long-range cruising use, not just show
"We designed ample storage for toys and equipment, essential for longer voyages and remote exploration," and on the stabilizer package: "This ensures smooth cruising even in rough conditions, allowing guests to fully enjoy life on board."
Gabriele Carniglia, captain of RJ, quoted by Megayacht NewsThe interior deliberately avoids typical yacht cliches in favour of a plain, single-material scheme
"The interior is light, calm and serene. There's not a single painted surface, it's all koto wood," and "the intention was to keep the interior plain so as not to invade the space, and that's how we arrived at the subtle Japanese theme." On the owners' character: "There's irony behind the story, the owners never take themselves too seriously and they wanted this reflected."
Achille Salvagni, interior designer, Achille Salvagni Architetti, quoted by Boat International and Megayacht News; first-hand but part of the design team's own promotional coverage of the launchThe exterior brief was long-distance cruising comfort, not conventional yacht styling
"The brief was to think out of the box to design an innovative yacht combining highest comfort with long-distance cruising capability," and on the deck layout: "Every deck has huge areas where guests can feel in close contact to the sea during long-distance cruising."
Francesco Paszkowski, exterior designer, quoted by Megayacht News; first-hand but promotional, from the yard-coordinated launch coverageThe yard frames this build as proof that its returning clients trade up rather than switch yards
"We're thrilled with the RJ line's appeal and honoured that a returning client has entrusted us with such a significant project." A separate co-founder quote adds: "Thanks to our expertise and commitment, CdM is a benchmark in the yachting industry. Nothing speaks louder than a satisfied client who comes back."
Ennio Cecchini, co-founder and President of Cantiere delle Marche, quoted on the shipyard's own website; promotional, from CdM's own launch releaseThe yard's CEO says the later off-market resale confirms the RJ line holds its value
"This sale highlights the continued success of pre-owned CdM yachts, confirming their enduring value and appeal among discerning yacht owners."
Vasco Buonpensiere, CEO and co-founder of Cantiere delle Marche, quoted by Boat International; promotional, from the yard commenting on its own brokerage result
Was gut ist und worauf zu achten ist
Stärken
- A genuine repeat-client commission, not a speculative buildThe owner had already built the smaller RJ130 with Cantiere delle Marche and came back to grow the same Elegant Explorer concept into a 47-metre flagship, with the owner, captain and both designers all on the record about continuity from the earlier boat, a harder thing to fake than a launch press release.
- Independent industry recognition after entering service, not just yard promotionAs Parati, the same hull won the World Superyacht Awards 2026 in the Displacement Motor Yachts category (499GT and below, 45m-49.9m) and the 2026 BOAT Design & Innovation Awards for both exterior and interior design in her size class, judged awards, separate from Cantiere delle Marche's own marketing.
- Genuine long-range explorer engineering, not just explorer stylingFull-displacement steel hull with aluminium superstructure, twin Caterpillar C32 Acert diesels, a range of 5,000nm or more, two pairs of electric stabilisers and gross tonnage deliberately kept just under the 500GT threshold, a real set of engineering choices aimed at remote, extended cruising rather than a grey paint job on a standard hull.
- Proven resale liquidity for the modelCantiere delle Marche reports five RJ-line units sold to date. This flagship hull itself resold off-market within roughly a year of delivery, brokered by the yard's own Pre-Owned Division with IYC introducing the buyer, a real if yard-reported signal of demand for the line.
Worauf zu achten ist
- Almost no independent ownership track record exists yetThe yacht only entered service in mid-2025 and changed hands again within about a year, being renamed Parati. Every substantive quote available comes from the yard's own launch coordination, owner, captain and designers all speaking through CdM-arranged press rather than independent reviews, so a buyer has no arm's-length long-term owner or charter-guest account to draw on.
- The yard's own published specifications disagree with each other on real numbersCruise speed is given as both 12 knots (CdM's launch release, CdM's fleet page, YachtBuyer) and 9 knots (Boat International's delivery report, an earlier Megayacht News preview). Range is given as both 5,000-plus nm at 10 knots and 4,000nm at 12 knots on CdM's own site. Fuel capacity is given as both 65,000 and 66,400 litres. That kind of inconsistency, straight from the builder's own pages, means a buyer needs to verify the as-built figures directly rather than trust any single online listing.
- A true full-displacement explorer hull trades speed for rangeTop speed is capped at 15 knots and cruise is in the 9 to 12 knot band depending on source, slow for a 47-metre yacht of this size compared with a planing hull of similar length. That is a deliberate, honest trade for range and sea-keeping, but a real limitation for an owner who wants faster point-to-point passages.
- No reliable price benchmark exists for this specific hullNeither the original 2022-2025 build contract price nor the 2026 off-market resale price for RJ/Parati has been published anywhere found. The only concrete asking price on record, EUR 32,000,000, is for a different, unbuilt future RJ 155 hull listed with a 2028 build year, not for this vessel, so it should not be read as this yacht's value.
Praktische Angaben
| Original build/sale price | Not published anywhere found. Neither the initial commissioning price nor the 2026 off-market resale price for this hull has been disclosed by the yard or brokers. |
|---|---|
| Reference asking price for the model | EUR 32,000,000, but this is the listed asking price for a separate, unbuilt future RJ 155 new-build hull, year 2028, not the price of RJ/Parati itself, included for context only and not as this yacht's value. |
| Sale/brokerage history | Delivered mid-2025 to a repeat Cantiere delle Marche client. Resold off-market and renamed Parati, confirmed by Boat International reporting in April 2026 and referenced separately by SuperYacht Times. Cantiere delle Marche's own Pre-Owned Division represented the seller, with Kevin Bonnie of IYC introducing the buyer. CdM states five RJ-line units have sold to date. |
| Charter availability | Not currently listed for charter, per YachtBuyer's market tracking. |
| Delivery date | Launched May 2025 and handed over in summer 2025; YachtBuyer reports delivery as scheduled for summer 2025 while other coverage cites July 2025 specifically. This slipped from an originally announced target of early 2025 in a 2022 project preview, roughly a several-month delay on a bespoke build. |
| What is not published | The owner's identity, the build and resale prices, annual running or crew costs, fresh water capacity and watermaker fit, generator and bow thruster specifics, tender make and model and any independent, non-yard-arranged owner, captain or charter-guest review beyond the launch-period press quotes above. |
Für wen: An owner who wants top-tier Italian design credentials and gallery-grade interiors wrapped around a genuine ocean-crossing hull, and who prefers understatement to the rugged expedition look.
