This site, yotters.com, is operated by Servola Systems GmbH, Adolf-Diesterweg-Strasse 31, 67071 Ludwigshafen, Germany ("we"). We take the protection of your personal data seriously and process it only in line with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and applicable law.
Newsletter: if you subscribe to The Yotters Brief we store the email address you provide, in order to send you the newsletter. Contact: if you write to us through the contact form we receive your name, email address and message so we can reply. Server logs: our hosting provider records standard technical data such as IP address, browser and time of access, for security and to operate the site.
We process your email to deliver a newsletter you asked for (your consent, Article 6(1)(a) GDPR) and your contact details to answer your enquiry and for our legitimate interest in running the title (Article 6(1)(b) and (f) GDPR). Server logs are processed for the legitimate interest of a secure, functioning website (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).
The site does not set advertising or cross-site retargeting cookies, and we do not sell or share personal data with advertising networks.
We do use Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID G-GFTF8KXPQH) to understand which articles are read. It sets the cookies _ga and _ga_GFTF8KXPQH, which distinguish one browser from another so that repeat visits are not counted twice. IP addresses are truncated by Google before storage. These are analytics cookies, not advertising cookies.
If you would rather not be measured, you can block the cookies in your browser, use its Do Not Track or private-browsing mode, or install the Google Analytics opt-out add-on. Any strictly necessary technical cookies exist only to make the site work.
We do not sell your data. It is handled by us and by our hosting and email providers acting as processors on our instructions. The site is served through a content-delivery network for performance and security.
Subscribing is double opt-in. When you enter your address we store it as pending with a random token and email you a confirmation. Opening a story link in that email confirms the subscription, and we record the confirmation time, your IP address and your browser string as the record that consent was given. Nothing is sent to an unconfirmed address, and a pending record that is not confirmed within 48 hours is deleted.
Once you are subscribed we record which links you open in our emails, tied to your subscription. We use it to judge which subjects are worth writing about and, for a small number of professional readers, to send something more relevant than a general mailing. We do not track your browsing across the site or across other websites, we do not use advertising or cross-site cookies for it, and we do not sell or share it.
You can object to that measurement at any time, without unsubscribing, by replying to any issue and saying so. To leave entirely, email [email protected] with "unsubscribe" as the subject, or use the unsubscribe control your mail client shows.
We keep your newsletter email until you unsubscribe, and contact correspondence for as long as needed to handle your matter and meet legal retention duties.
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your data, object to processing, ask for portability, and withdraw consent at any time. To do so, or to unsubscribe, email [email protected]. You also have the right to complain to a data-protection authority.
