What She Is and the Brand Story Behind Her
Greenline built its reputation on hybrid and electric propulsion at a much smaller scale, and GX Superyachts exists specifically to carry that experience upward. The GX42's keel was laid on 1 June 2024, months before GX Superyachts was formally unveiled at the September 2024 Monaco Yacht Show, and Megayacht News reported the boat was being built for a client already used to cruising a solar-panel-equipped yacht. Founder Vladimir Zinchenko has repeatedly told the press the build was running ahead of schedule and that the brand was already seeing strong interest from prospective owners.
The company has added real commercial infrastructure around the boat rather than leaving it as a single custom project. Owner's representative Andrea Armas advises the board, and in December 2025 the brand hired Maurizio Magri, a 40 year industry veteran of CBI Navi, Mangusta, Admiral Yachts, Tecnomar and Wider Yachts, as Chief Commercial Officer, opening a dedicated GX Superyachts sales office in Monaco. A second GX42 RPH hull is already under construction for 2027 delivery, and the brand has a published range plan running from 34 to 56 metres.

Hull, Construction and Naval Architecture
SES Yachts is a 50 year old family-owned Turkish yard run by naval architects, and it is where Greenline's hybrid technology has been translated into a full aluminium superyacht hull for the first time. Build milestones were unusually well documented across two years of press coverage: hull turning and the joining of hull to superstructure were completed in mid-2025, reported as ahead of schedule, followed by thermal insulation, piping, electrical work and paint through late 2025 and into 2026. By March 2026, guest stateroom joinery and en suite bathrooms were substantially finished, with the owner's main-deck suite, saloon and wheelhouse electronics still in progress.
Published dimensions are LOA 42.05 metres (the as-launched hull was measured at 41.8 metres by Boat International), beam 8.50 metres and draft 1.90 metres, figures that appear consistently on GX Superyachts' own site and on YachtBuyer's spec sheet. Gross tonnage is given as 335 to 353 GT depending on source, with a displacement around 245 to 260 tonnes. Fuel capacity is listed at 30,000 litres and fresh water at 6,000 litres. Specialist Marine provided technical consultancy through design, engineering and production alongside Rogantin's naval architecture work.

This is no showboat for flexing the muscles. We have created an intensely calming interior.

Engines, Hybrid System and Performance
In electric-only mode the yacht is consistently reported, across GX Superyachts' own materials, Boat International and Megayacht News, as capable of up to 100 nautical miles at 6 knots, with up to 48 hours of zero-emission rest at anchor and a claimed reduction in onboard electricity consumption of up to 45 percent. Solar panels integrated into the hardtop are most commonly cited at a maximum of 27 kW across four independent outlets, though GX Superyachts' own website separately states up to 39 kW elsewhere on the site, a discrepancy this entry is not resolving by guessing which is correct.
Top speed is where the sources genuinely disagree rather than just round differently. GX Superyachts' own spec page and YachtBuyer both give a cruising speed of 12 knots and a maximum of 16 knots, while Boat International and Yachting Magazine's launch coverage report 14 knots cruising and 17 knots maximum. Diesel-mode range is quoted at up to 10,000 nautical miles at 6 knots by the builder and 11,500 nautical miles at 6 knots by the German outlet Boote Magazin. Buyers should treat all of these as approximate until an independent sea trial publishes measured numbers.

Layout and Accommodation
The owner's suite sits on the main deck in the raised pilothouse, with wrap-around windows, a private foredeck terrace, a walk-in wardrobe and a private office in the foyer. Below decks, the VIP cabin runs full beam with a king bed and a folding port-side balcony, and a children's cabin is fitted with twin beds plus a Pullman berth. Crew accommodation runs to 4 dedicated cabins for up to 7 or 8 crew, and both the Coupe and RPH versions share a beach club with fold-down wings and a hydraulic platform.
Interior designer Marco Casali described the brief plainly to Megayacht News: this is no showboat for flexing the muscles, we have created an intensely calming interior for a travel-oriented family. Materials lean on walnut paneling and cabinetry, leather panels and shelving, rippled liquid-metal panels meant to echo the ocean outside, backlit Turkish marble in the dining area, sage and blue accent colors and furnishings from Poltrona Frau. The Coupe variant adds a hidden sundeck with a Jacuzzi and bar beneath sliding solar panels.

The Honest State of Delivery and Owner Base
The timeline is unusually well documented for a first-in-class yacht: keel laying in June 2024, hull turning and joining in mid-2025, interior fit-out through late 2025 and into March 2026, launch in August 2026 under the name Merinos, sea trials in the western Mediterranean with the owner aboard and a public debut at Port Hercule from 23 to 26 September 2026, at the Quai l'Hirondelle. A second GX42 RPH hull, RPH/02, is already under construction for delivery in 2027.
What is genuinely missing is independent verification. Every piece of coverage found traces back to the builder's press materials or a launch-week media event, none to a third-party sea trial, broker inspection or a published owner interview. Megayacht News' only characterization of the actual owner is secondhand, describing an experienced owner who has enjoyed cruising aboard a solar-panel-equipped yacht rather than a direct quote. There is no resale or charter history because only one hull exists and it has been in the water for a matter of weeks.
Pricing
No article covering Merinos' construction, launch or Monaco debut states her purchase price, which is typical for a fully custom first hull built for a named client. The one concrete number available is the brokerage asking price of EUR 32,000,000 for GX42 RPH/02, the second hull, due for delivery in 2027 and marketed by Northrop and Johnson as a semi-available new build rather than a resale.
That figure gives a reasonable working reference point for what a GX42 costs new, but it should not be read as Merinos' own contract price, which was negotiated separately and earlier. GX Superyachts has not published a base price list across its planned 34 to 56 metre range, so prospective buyers are working from a single brokerage data point rather than a yard price sheet.
Motoren und Technik
| Main engines | Two MAN D2862 diesel engines (per Boat International and Yachting Magazine launch coverage; not independently confirmed on GX Superyachts' own spec sheet) |
|---|---|
| Gearboxes / drive | Diesel-electric hybrid drive with two 200 kW electric motors. GX Superyachts' own materials call it a serial hybrid, Boat International's launch coverage calls it a parallel hybrid; the exact architecture is not described consistently across sources |
| Generators | Not specified in any published source found |
| Stabilisers | Not specified in any published source found |
| Tankage | Fuel 30,000 litres, fresh water 6,000 litres (YachtBuyer spec sheet) |
| What to check | Ask the yard directly for a dated written spec sheet. Published top speed (16 vs 17 knots), solar output (27 kW vs 39 kW) and diesel range (10,000 nm vs 11,500 nm) vary between GX Superyachts' own site and press coverage |
Was Eigner und Crew berichten
No independent sea trial or ownership report exists yet
Merinos only touched water in August 2026 and made her public debut at the Monaco Yacht Show on 23 to 26 September 2026. As of this writing there is no independent sea trial write-up, broker inspection report or owner testimonial in the marine press, only builder-supplied and press-embargo coverage.
Yotters desk, on the absence of published owner or test reports as of September 2026The builder describes the build as ahead of schedule with strong buyer interest
Founder Vladimir Zinchenko is quoted during construction saying the build was actually ahead of schedule and citing strong interest from prospective owners in the brand, a builder's own assessment rather than an independent verification.
Yachting NewsThe interior designer's account of the brief is the closest thing to a client-side voice on record
Marco Casali described creating an intensely calming interior rejecting a showy, muscle-flexing superyacht aesthetic for a travel-oriented family, a designer's account of the brief rather than the owner speaking directly.
Megayacht NewsThe only characterization of the actual buyer is secondhand and brief
The owner is described only as an experienced owner who has enjoyed cruising aboard a solar-panel-equipped yacht, a secondhand characterization rather than a direct quote or named interview.

Was gut ist und worauf zu achten ist
Stärken
- Genuine hybrid pedigree, not a marketing veneerGX Superyachts is backed by Greenline's 15-plus years and 1,000-plus delivered hybrid and electric yachts, giving the propulsion claims a track record that most first-time superyacht hybrid entrants lack.
- Specific, repeated efficiency numbers100 nautical miles of electric-only range at 6 knots, 48 hours of zero-emission anchoring and a 45 percent cut in onboard electricity use are concrete figures reported consistently across multiple independent outlets, not vague green marketing language.
- An established, restrained design teamMarco Casali of Too Design and Francesco Rogantin of NAMES are known names, and the interior brief was explicitly pitched against showy superyacht cliche: walnut, leather and marble over gloss and chrome.
- Unusually transparent, on-schedule buildTwo years of press-documented milestones, keel laying, hull turn, outfitting stages, all reported ahead of schedule, plus real business investment such as a Monaco sales office and a veteran commercial hire, point to a genuine manufacturer rather than a one-off vanity project.
Worauf zu achten ist
- No independent verification yetEvery piece of coverage traces back to builder press materials or launch-week media access. There is no third-party sea trial report or class survey publicly available as of this writing.
- No owner or resale track recordOnly one hull has been delivered, weeks before this entry was written, so there is no charter history, resale data or independent owner account to draw on.
- Published numbers do not agree with each otherTop speed, solar output and diesel range figures differ between GX Superyachts' own website and mainstream marine press coverage, a sign the brand's own technical materials have not fully settled.
- The flagship is built at a subcontracted yardSES Yachts in Turkey builds the GX42, not Greenline's own Slovenia facility, a step away from the direct manufacturing history that underpins the brand's efficiency claims.
- Pricing is opaqueMerinos' own price was never published. The only public figure is a brokered asking price for a second, later hull, which is not the same thing as a yard price list.
