Delta Marine and Bannenberg & Rowell open a 50-75m line

A range, not a one-off

Delta Marine unveiled the collaboration on 13 July, presenting a family of yachts sharing one design language across the span. BOAT International reports the range as 50 to 75 metres, while SuperYacht Times headlined it at 50 to 70, so the top of the line is stated differently in the trade press. Megayacht News gives the same 75-metre ceiling that the yard does.

The first model is the DELTA + B&R 500, drawn at 50 m and held below the 500 GT threshold. Megayacht News lists accommodation for 12 guests in six staterooms. Beam and range have not been published, which is normal for a range announcement and not a signed hull. A 65-metre version is in development, and the yard says the sub-500 GT design scales across the full 50 to 75-metre span without a redraw at each step.

Three credits, and one of them stays in-house

Bannenberg and Rowell Design holds both the exterior styling and the interior design on the range. The naval architecture does not move. It stays with Delta Design Group, the builder's own in-house division, which historically styled Delta's yachts as well. Reporting the studio as author of the whole boat would be wrong on the part that determines how she floats.

That split is the substance of the announcement. Delta has kept engineering and hull work internal for decades and is buying an outside aesthetic, not outside engineering. Simon Rowell, creative director at the studio, framed the brief as a yacht that reads unmistakably as a Delta while gaining what he called a fresh sense of dynamism and physicality. Michelle Jones, vice president of the family-run yard, put the partnership down to evolving owner expectations.

What the sub-500 GT limit buys back

Holding the first hull under 500 GT caps interior volume, so the design pushes the living outboard. Horizontal lines, sculpted aft bulwarks and angled canopies define the profile, and an intersection of creases along the hull forms a triangle motif that reads as a delta. Reverse-angle windows sit aft, above angled overhangs.

The arrangement puts a large pool on the aft deck with tiered levels above it for dining and lounging, and full-height garages for surfboards and paddleboards tucked beneath the stairs to the outdoor dining area and bar. The owners' deck sits at the top of the boat and carries a winter garden and two separate offices. Guest accommodation can be configured with two staterooms on the main deck, with a full-beam VIP and two further staterooms below.

The drive, across the whole line

Every yacht in the range is drawn around a diesel-electric hybrid system with podded drive units and integrated energy storage. Conventional diesel generation supplies electric propulsion. That is what allows one set of machinery to cover slow cruising, harbour manoeuvres and a night at anchor on stored power.

Specifying that as standard across a family, before a single hull is sold, is a commitment the yard cannot easily walk back. It also puts pods on a range whose smallest member is measured under 500 GT, where the space saved by removing shaft lines and gearboxes is worth more per square metre than it is on a 75-metre. No fuel-saving figure has been published.

Why an American range matters here

Delta is one of very few US yards building at this size. A defined 50 to 75-metre line is its bid to keep American owners from defaulting to northern European builders. The yard's own back catalogue sets the reference point, because the 73.15-metre Delta Laurel is on the brokerage market at USD 69.5m, which is roughly what a used Delta at the top of this new range costs today.

For a buyer, the sub-500 GT entry point and a hybrid drive as standard hedge two separate exposures. The lighter tonnage tier keeps manning and survey requirements down, which is a recurring annual cost, and the documented low-emission spec is the part that protects a resale position as harbour and anchorage rules tighten. A common platform also means negotiating against a known product with published intent, which is a different conversation from commissioning a blank sheet.
