Moonen Yachts · 122 Martinique platform, hulls one through ten, 2018 to present

122 Martinique

Lollipop is hull number eight of Moonen's 122 Martinique series, the Dutch yard's flagship steel-hulled long-range motor yacht, delivered to her American owners in June 2026 after sea trials in the North Sea and a final send-off from Moonen's outfitting berth at Hellevoetsluis. She carries the platform's now-familiar fast-displacement hull and 4,000-nautical-mile range, but her own identity is anything but familiar: an interior by Vripack built around a genuinely playful, candy-inspired theme, down to a sundeck cocktail bar with a lollipop-studded transparent countertop that gives the boat her name. After a summer of cruising with her new owners, Lollipop is due to work as Moonen's own demonstration yacht at the 2026 Monaco Yacht Show, putting hull eight of the Martinique line in front of the buyers who will decide whether there is a ninth and tenth beyond the two already ordered.

Eight hulls in, eight years running

Lollipop began life as yard number YN206, laid down at Moonen's works in 's-Hertogenbosch as the eighth hull of the 122 Martinique platform first launched with Brigadoon in 2018. She was launched and christened in March 2026, then moved to Moonen's Hellevoetsluis berths for final outfitting, where fitting-out yards on this coast traditionally finish systems installation, commissioning and interior work away from the main production sheds.

Sea trials followed in the North Sea in the weeks before her handover. Moonen's project manager on the build, Ian Vermoen, said afterward that she handled the North Sea beautifully and was fully prepared to begin her journey with her owners. Lollipop was delivered to her American owners in June 2026 and left Hellevoetsluis for a first season of cruising in European waters, ahead of a planned appearance as Moonen's demonstration yacht at the Monaco Yacht Show later in the year.

Steel nerve for the Atlantic

Under the custom bodywork, Lollipop is engineered exactly like her seven sisterships. Diana Yacht Design drew a fast-displacement hull in high-tensile steel, chosen over aluminum or composite specifically for the added stiffness and impact resistance it gives a yacht meant to cross oceans rather than hop between marinas; the aluminum superstructure above the waterline keeps overall weight and center of gravity in check. At 37.40 meters (122ft 8in) with an 8 meter beam and a shallow 2.15 meter full-load draft, she displaces around 345 gross tons, drawing little enough water to reach anchorages a deeper flybridge yacht of the same length could not.

Twin Caterpillar C32 ACERT diesels, each rated at 1,417 kW or about 1,900hp, give her a top speed of 17 knots and a cruising speed of 14.5 knots, burning roughly 335 liters an hour at that pace against about 700 liters an hour flat out. Throttled back to 10 knots, fuel burn drops to around 80 liters an hour, stretching her 35,000 liter fuel tank to a genuine 4,000 nautical mile range, enough for a transatlantic crossing without a fuel stop, which is the entire point of the platform. Fresh water tankage runs to 8,000 liters. Moonen does not publish generator, stabilizer or thruster specifications for the model in its brokerage or shipyard literature, so exact auxiliary equipment is confirmed only at survey.

She represents everything Moonen stands for, quality, reliability and understated elegance.

A personality built to order

Every 122 Martinique shares its hull and naval architecture, but Moonen treats the interior as a genuinely open brief, and Lollipop is the clearest example yet of how far that can be taken. Her interior, by Dutch studio Vripack, leans into the yacht's name with a metallic hull finish, a sundeck jacuzzi wrapped in a curved candy-colored glass panel and a cocktail bar with a transparent countertop embedded with lollipops and other sweets, lit from within by soft pastel tubes. It is a long way from the teak-and-cream default that steel Dutch motor yachts are often assumed to mean, and it makes the point Moonen wants prospective owners to take: the platform is a starting point, not a finished design.

Under the theming, the layout follows the series standard: five staterooms for ten guests, split between an owner's suite, two VIP cabins and two further guest cabins, with crew quarters for seven across a captain's cabin and three crew cabins. A tender garage built into the hull side takes a tender up to 6 meters, and the foredeck carries stowage for two jet skis, alongside the wide, mostly uninterrupted outdoor decks that the Martinique's low profile and level sundeck are designed around.

The company Lollipop keeps

Lollipop's eight sisterships give a reasonably long track record to judge the platform by. The first, Brigadoon, won a World Superyacht Award not long after her 2018 delivery. Botti, a shorter 119ft version of the same platform delivered in 2022 to American owners, drew a public testimonial from her captain, Matthew Curtis, who said of the build and the yard's support that you see the extra quality she holds, that it is all in the details that separate a Moonen from other boats in this size range, and that knowing the boat can take a lot more than the crew can is a great feeling offshore. Those are comments given directly to Moonen and to the trade press covering the yacht, not paid marketing lines.

The order book behind Lollipop looks healthy rather than one-off. A ninth 122 Martinique, YN207, sold in December 2025 to another American family for a January 2027 delivery, was, according to Moonen's global sales representative Matthew Stone, the fourth Moonen sale of 2025, and a tenth hull was already reported in build alongside it. For a yard that builds only two yachts a year, that is a full pipeline, and it puts real weight behind Moonen's decision to send Lollipop, rather than a plain demonstrator, to represent the platform at the 2026 Monaco Yacht Show.

Built upside down, then turned right side up

Moonen does not roll its own steel plate. Every 122 Martinique hull, Lollipop included, is fabricated at Talsma Shipyards in the north of the Netherlands, a specialist steel hull partner Moonen has used across the Martinique series, before the finished hull is transported to the Moonen works for the milestone the yard calls the hull and superstructure marriage. The hull itself is built upside down during its earliest fabrication stages, a common technique for a high-tensile-steel hull because it lets welders work with gravity on the overhead seams rather than against it, and it is only turned right side up once the shape is complete, ahead of being joined to the aluminum superstructure built separately at Moonen's own sheds.

That joining moment, hull and superstructure lifted and fixed together as one structure, is the point at which a Martinique stops being two separate fabrications and becomes a recognizable yacht, and Moonen marks it publicly for every hull in the series, including Lollipop's own turning and joining before her move to Hellevoetsluis. Once the structure is unified the yacht moves into outfitting, where technical systems, insulation and the interior are installed ahead of commissioning and sea trials, the same sequence Lollipop followed on her way to her March 2026 launch and June 2026 delivery.

Ce que rapportent propriétaires et équipages

Les points forts et les points de vigilance

Points forts

  • Genuine ocean-crossing range in a sub-40m hullA confirmed 4,000nm range at 10 knots and a steel hull built for it mean owners can actually cross the Atlantic rather than just advertise the capability.
  • Interior freedom most steel-hull yards do not offerEight hulls, four different interior studios and Lollipop's candy-themed cabin bar show Moonen will let an owner make the platform genuinely their own rather than pick from a fixed catalog.
  • A yard with real continuity through ownership changeTechnical leadership, now managing director Nicky van Zon, has been in place since 2008, and the 2019 rescue by the Baxters kept the same formula and much of the same team rather than starting over.

Points de vigilance

  • Top speed trails faster rivals17 knots and a 14.5 knot cruise are modest next to faster-displacement or planing competitors near 40 meters that can do 20 knots or more, a real trade-off for owners who want to cover ground quickly rather than steadily.
  • Key equipment specs are simply not publishedGenerator make and output, stabilizer brand and model, and bow and stern thruster power are absent from both the shipyard's own literature and every brokerage listing checked, leaving buyers to confirm that detail only at survey or contract stage.
  • Thin resale dataWith only eight hulls delivered since 2018 and most still with their first owners, there is no real secondhand market or price history to benchmark a resale purchase against.

Informations pratiques

New build priceRoughly EUR 25.5 million to EUR 27 million depending on specification and delivery slot, based on Moonen's own asking prices for sister hulls YN205 (EUR 25.5 million, near-immediate delivery) and YN208 (EUR 27 million, June 2027 delivery); Lollipop's own contract price was not disclosed.
Typical used priceNot established. Only eight 122 Martinique hulls have been built since 2018 and almost none have reached the brokerage market, so there is no reliable secondhand benchmark for this specific model yet.
Annual running costNot published by Moonen for this model. The industry's rough rule of thumb, cited across brokers and yacht managers, is about 10 percent of purchase price a year for a yacht this size and age, which would put a boat in Lollipop's price bracket at roughly EUR 2.5 to 3 million annually, though that figure is a general industry benchmark rather than a Moonen-specific one.
Not publicly knownGenerator make and output, stabilizer brand and model, bow and stern thruster power, and Lollipop's own contract price.

Pour qui: Owners who want genuine transatlantic range and steel-hull sea-keeping in a sub-40m yacht, and who are willing to wait for a limited-production semi-custom build rather than buy off a broker's dock.
