Timeless by design, explorer by nature

Numarine introduced the 38XPC in April 2026 alongside the 39MXPC, and gave the pair a launch line that doubles as a specification, timeless by design, explorer by nature. Where a decade of XP models built the brand on vertical bows and workboat geometry, the 38XPC turns to elegant curves, teak detailing and a balanced profile, a silhouette that would sit comfortably in a harbour photograph from any era.

The yard is explicit that this is a design philosophy and a nod to heritage, with classic here meaning proportion, clarity and elegance handled in a contemporary way. Can Yalman, who has drawn every Numarine since the early days, treats the assignment as the same brief in different tailoring. The engineering pedigree underneath is unchanged, and the yard leads with that fact in every description of the line.

The gentleman's yacht, resized

Of the two Classics, the 38XPC is the traditionalist. Numarine describes its layout direction as inspired by gentlemen's yachts and yachting heritage, which reads as formal saloons, proper dining, covered side decks and an aft main deck arranged for conversation over cocktails at anchor. The 39MXPC spends its character on an open water terrace, while the 38XPC keeps its composure and its symmetry.

At 37.9 metres with an 8.02 metre beam and 360 gross tons, the proportions on paper are close to the 37XP, and that is the point. This is the yard's most proven size bracket, the one where it has delivered hull after hull since 2021, re-skinned for owners whose taste runs to varnish and restraint. Hot Lab's interior direction follows the same tone.

Proven steel underneath the teak

The hull is steel with a GRP superstructure, drawn by Tagliavini on the platform thinking that carries the 37XP, 40MXP and 39MXPC, with a 2.57 metre draft and RINA Pleasure class. Numarine quotes an 18 month build time. Every major system, from the machinery arrangement to the tankage, repeats an installation the yard has built and supported many times over.

For the buyer this collapses the usual risk of ordering a brand new model. The 38XPC's novelty lives entirely in styling and interior architecture, the disciplines where surprises are pleasant, while the parts of a yacht that sink budgets and schedules are carried over from a mature series. It is the rare first hull that behaves, commercially, like a tenth hull.

Range as standard equipment

Propulsion mirrors the rest of the 37 to 40 metre range, twin MAN diesels of 800 horsepower or the 900 horsepower heavy duty Tier III alternative with SCR. Fourteen knots is the ceiling, 12 the cruise, and 8 knots the passage making sweet spot where the 49,000 litres of fuel translate into 6,000 nautical miles of range. Fresh water tankage of 3,000 litres supports extended time away from marinas.

The figures deserve a second look precisely because the boat does not advertise them. Nothing about a teak trimmed classic profile suggests Atlantic crossings on its own bottom, yet the 38XPC will do them as readily as any XP. Owners get the pleasure of a yacht that is routinely underestimated, which in crowded anchorages is its own kind of luxury.

Twelve guests and an open order book

Accommodation is drawn for 12 guests in six cabins plus a convertible seventh, with seven crew in four cabins, the same practical ratio that runs through the yard's core range. Layouts remain semi custom, and with no hulls yet started the first buyers will shape details of the general arrangement alongside Hot Lab and the yard's own engineering office.

No launch or delivery date has been published for the 38XPC, so the year here stays open. Numarine's cadence on previous new models suggests the gap between first contract and first launch will be short, the quoted build is 18 months, and the trade press greeted the Classic line as a natural extension of a yard that keeps finding new audiences for the same formidable platform.
