Succeeding a sixty-hull legend

Replacing the W112, the 34-meter series that ran for three decades, was the hardest brief in the company. Westport answered with a clean-sheet 117-footer developed with the three-dimensional modeling and structural software used in aviation, engineered to meet every objective for speed, ride, maneuverability and classing capability before the first hull was laminated.

Construction of hull one began in 2022. She launched in November 2024 as Priceless, ran her sea trials through the winter, and made her world debut at the Palm Beach International Boat Show in March 2025 as a delivered 2025 yacht. The program followed the standard Westport sequence: heavy investment in series tooling first, then hulls built to a fixed specification, a fixed USD price and a promised date.

Ten guests where the old boat slept eight

The headline change from the W112 is a main deck master. The full-width suite sits forward with a centerline king and separate his and her bath entries, an arrangement usually reserved for much larger yachts, and it lifts the owner out of the lower deck entirely. Four guest staterooms below, three with queen beds and an exercise room with upper and lower Pullman twins, bring the count to ten guests in five ensuite staterooms.

Crew quarters take five including the captain in three staterooms forward, and every one of them has a private head and shower, a real retention advantage when good crew can choose their boat. The galley is a bright country-style space, the saloon runs on the 7.67-meter beam, and with navigation moved up to the raised pilothouse, the deck above belongs entirely to guest living.

Performance under the 300-ton line

Twin Caterpillar C32B diesels of 2,200 horsepower each drive through ZF 3060A gears for a 20-knot cruise and 24 knots at the top, brisk numbers for a 35-meter with this much accommodation. Throttled to 12 knots, the 23,162-liter fuel capacity delivers 2,500 nautical miles, enough for Fort Lauderdale to the eastern Caribbean and onward without drama, and the 1.93-meter draft opens the shallow Bahamian water American owners actually use.

At 299 gross tons ITC the W117 stays under the 300 GT line while carrying full ABS class and MCA compliance, which keeps regulatory overhead light for private and charter operation alike. The structure is Westport's usual foam-cored composite with frameless chemically strengthened glazing bonded directly to the hull and superstructure, finished in the fleet's Snow White polyurethane.

Big-yacht systems in a 35-meter package

Stability gets the same two-layer treatment as the flagship: a pair of Seakeeper 35 gyros for stillness at anchor and Naiad 525 fins for the ride underway. Two 80 kW Northern Lights generators carry the load, watermakers produce 3,600 gallons a day from seawater, and 30 tons of air conditioning handle temperature and humidity in tropical service.

Navigation and connectivity are specified like a commercial bridge: twin Furuno X-band radars with open arrays, Nobeltec professional charting, a Furuno satellite compass, Starlink high-speed internet with Iridium backup, and AV over IP entertainment with iPad lighting control throughout. Electric bow and stern thrusters of 60 and 40 horsepower give four-station close-quarters control, and the tender is an AB Nautilus 15 DLX with a 70 hp Yamaha, handled by a 2,500-pound Nautical Structures crane.

Two levels of flybridge and the stern scene

Outside is where the raised pilothouse layout pays off. The flybridge spans two levels, with a centerline hot tub, bar, barbecue and an elevated observation settee that gives guests the view the captain used to keep for himself. At the stern, a beach club with its own bar puts the party at the waterline, and the swim platform handles boarding, diving and dockside pump-out duties.

As an ownership proposition the W117 is the newest small Westport, which means current systems, a full builder warranty and a five-crew wage bill on a yacht that hosts ten guests. The series it replaces put more than sixty hulls on the water, so the brand's resale mechanics at this size are proven beyond argument, and early W117 hulls inherit that machinery from delivery day.
