Tankoa's Loewe Lists for EUR 38m, Named After Her Owner's Company

Loewe, the 55-metre Tankoa named for the German electronics brand her owner runs, has come to market for the first time at EUR 38,000,000 through Camper & Nicholsons, a year after delivery. She is the second hull of the yard's T55 Sportiva series, built to stay just under the 500 GT line that would push her into a costlier compliance bracket. For an owner weighing a similar-sized commission, how fast a semi-custom 55-metre gets a serious brokerage listing and a charter booking is itself a data point on whether the format holds up.

Why is Tankoa's Loewe already for sale?

Loewe has gone to market for the first time at EUR 38,000,000 through Camper & Nicholsons, a year after Tankoa delivered her, and the listing lands deliberately ahead of the Monaco Yacht Show, where she is on display from 23 to 26 September.

Brokers Mael Fiolet and Jessica Ruez of Camper & Nicholsons are handling the sale, the first time Loewe has changed hands since Tankoa's technical launch announcement in May 2025. She is the second unit of the T55 Sportiva series, an aluminium semi-custom platform from the Genoa-area yard, and her design is credited jointly to Luca Dini Design & Architecture for both the interior and exterior. No distress reason has been reported for the sale; the timing simply puts a year-old, award-recognised 55-metre in front of the buyers who gather in Port Hercule every September.

The name is the story's hook: Loewe is registered for an owner who runs the German consumer-electronics company of the same name, headquartered in Kronach in Upper Franconia. Tankoa's own announcement called the build 'a fully bespoke project' developed in close collaboration between the owner, Luca Dini and the yard, and press coverage has described the brief as an attempt to carry the Loewe brand's own design language onto the water. None of the coverage names the owner personally or confirms his exact title at the company, so that detail stays attributed to the trade press rather than stated as fact.

What is the Tankoa T55 Sportiva and how does Loewe differ from the first hull?

The T55 Sportiva is Tankoa's semi-custom 55-metre platform, 9 metres of beam and 499 GT on an aluminium hull classed with RINA and ABS, and Loewe carries one more cabin than Rose, the first hull, along with a different placement for the underwater viewing windows.

Rose, the debut T55 Sportiva, was unveiled in 2021 and has been in service since. Loewe followed roughly a month after the platform's second technical launch in May 2025, built to the same 55m length overall, 9m beam, 2.4m draft and 455-tonne full-load displacement, but configured for six guest cabins rather than five, which Tankoa's own announcement frames as 'increased guest capacity without compromising comfort or privacy'. An internal elevator connects all decks, a feature not standard on every 55-metre in this size bracket.

The two hulls also part ways on a signature design touch: both carry an underwater viewing window into a lower-deck wellness space, sometimes called a Nemo window, but Loewe's sits to starboard where Rose's sits to port. Giovanni Parronchi, the concept and exterior designer on the project, has described the window as intentional theatre rather than incidental glazing: 'it's a kind of unique feature, a statement that we really wanted to make.' Semi-custom in this case means the naval architecture, volume and hull form are fixed by the platform, while an owner spends the customisation budget on layout details, materials and features like the window placement rather than on the underlying engineering.

Why does Loewe stop at 499 GT instead of going bigger?

Tankoa held Loewe's volume just under the 500 GT threshold that pushes a yacht into a stricter, costlier commercial-vessel compliance and crew-certification bracket in most flag states, trading a small amount of interior volume for a lighter running-cost profile.

500 GT is not a cosmetic number in yacht design. Cross that line and an owner typically faces the full reach of codes like the Large Yacht Code and broader statutory surveying and manning requirements that a sub-500 GT vessel can avoid or apply in a lighter form, which shows up later as higher registration, insurance and crew-certification costs. Yotters has tracked the same design decision on other recent launches this year, including Maiora's new 50-metre, which stopped at 499 GT for the identical reason. Loewe's 499 GT rating puts her in that same deliberately-capped category, the largest in her class according to Tankoa's own marketing of the T55 Sportiva line.

The trade-off is visible aboard: six cabins for 12 guests is a generous ratio for a 55-metre, but it is not the largest possible layout Tankoa could have drawn on this hull length. The volume budget saved at the top of the tonnage scale went instead into full-beam social spaces, the beach club and the wellness deck rather than into additional cabins or a larger owner's suite footprint. For a buyer comparing Loewe against a full-custom 55-metre with no such cap, the question is whether the lower running-cost bracket is worth the volume Tankoa left on the table.

What amenities does Loewe have, and what specifications are not independently confirmed?

Loewe carries a beach club with a hydraulic dance floor and DJ booth, a wellness deck with the underwater window, and an owner's suite with its own terrace, but her published top-speed figures conflict between outlets and neither cites an independent sea trial.

The beach club centres on a roughly four-metre pool with a hydraulic floor that raises to a 20-square-metre dance terrace, paired with a permanently installed DJ booth, an unusual combination for a yacht this size. One deck down, the wellness area has a sauna, hammam, gym and massage space built around the underwater window, and the sundeck carries its own nine-square-metre Jacuzzi. The main-deck owner's suite sits forward with a private terrace and a smaller spa pool of its own, finished in oak with furniture from Paola Lenti, Cassina and Minotti, a materials list more associated with residential interior design than yacht-standard fit-out.

On propulsion, Loewe runs twin Caterpillar C32 engines rated at 1,193 kW each, with a fuel capacity of 60,000 litres giving a reported range of 3,800 nautical miles at 12 knots, a figure that is consistent across the sources Yotters checked. Her top speed is not: trade outlets have published figures as far apart as 17 knots and 20 knots off the same engine specification, and none of them cites an independent sea trial to settle the difference. A buyer doing diligence on Loewe should treat the range figure as solid and ask the yard directly for a verified speed number rather than take either published figure at face value.

What happens to Loewe if she doesn't sell at the Monaco Yacht Show?

A buyer taking months to close does not leave Loewe idle: Ocean Independence already has her booked as a charter yacht at EUR 400,000 a week in the Mediterranean, giving the listing a revenue backstop while Camper & Nicholsons finds an owner.

That dual listing, for sale and for charter simultaneously, is common practice on a yacht this age and this new to the market, and it means Loewe's presence at Monaco this September works two ways: a prospective buyer can walk her at the show, and a charter client can book the same weeks a sale is being negotiated. Ocean Independence is running the charter side of the operation independently of the Camper & Nicholsons sale mandate, which is itself a signal that the owner is treating this as an orderly, unhurried exit rather than a forced sale.

For an owner considering a comparable build, Loewe's first weeks on the market are the real test of the T55 Sportiva as a resale proposition: whether a semi-custom Italian 55-metre with a full-beam owner's suite, a proven wellness deck and a design pedigree from Luca Dini clears EUR 38,000,000 close to asking, or needs the kind of price cuts that have hit other recent brokerage listings this year. Rose, the first hull, has not been reported for sale, so Loewe alone will set the market's first data point on what a T55 Sportiva actually holds its value at.

What is good, and what to watch

Strong points

  • Two hulls already deliveredLoewe is not a paper design. Rose has been sailing since 2021 and Loewe since 2025, so a buyer is purchasing a proven platform, not a first-of-type risk.
  • Volume built for the 499 GT ceilingStaying under 500 GT keeps Loewe inside a lighter compliance and crew-certification bracket than a similarly sized yacht over that line, without giving up the beach club and wellness deck a 55-metre buyer expects.
  • A charter fallback is already in placeOcean Independence has her booked at EUR 400,000 a week, so a buyer who takes months to close is not looking at a yacht sitting idle in the meantime.

What to watch

  • Semi-custom means shared bonesThe T55 Sportiva's naval architecture and interior volume are fixed by the platform. Loewe's individuality is in furniture, materials and window placement, not in tonnage or layout, unlike a full-custom 55-metre commissioned from scratch.
  • Published performance figures disagreeTrade outlets report her top speed anywhere from 17 to 20 knots on the same twin-Caterpillar-C32 configuration, and none cites an independent sea trial, so a buyer should get a verified number from the yard before relying on either figure.
