A bespoke fast flagship

The Superfast 42 was unveiled as a custom project for a European owner and delivered in the summer of 2022. It sits among the larger models in Baglietto's Fast line and shows the yard's continuing appetite for one-off fast yachts made to order. Its slender planing hull and aggressive styling drew attention at launch. The whole project was shaped closely around a single owner's wishes from the very start. It underlined that fast Baglietto yachts can be as bespoke as any displacement build.

At 42 metres the yacht is a full superyacht built to plane. The extensive glazing across several levels marks it out visually against more conventional yachts of the size. It reads as an expression of the owner's taste for speed and light. Much of the design centres on life out on deck rather than on formal interior entertaining. The Superfast 42 is a rare, individual take on the fast-yacht idea.

Top of the Fast line

Baglietto's Fast line covers its planing and semi-displacement aluminium yachts, and the Superfast 42 sits near the top by length. It shares the line's focus on speed and sharp design with the larger 43m Fast that sits above it. Francesco Paszkowski Design shaped the exterior across the family. The Superfast name signals the yard's quickest thinking. The model shows how far the line can stretch into full custom territory for a single client.

Where the 43m Fast is a series model, the Superfast 42 was conceived as an individual build. It carries the line's character at a larger, more customised scale. The planing aluminium hull keeps it firmly within the fast family of the range. Every major choice was made for one owner rather than a catalogue. It shows how far the yard will tailor a fast yacht.

Slender and glazed

Francesco Paszkowski Design gave the Superfast 42 a slender, aggressive hull with wide multi-level glazing. The planing aluminium structure keeps overall weight low in the service of speed. A shallow 2.1 metre draft lets the yacht reach shallower waters than its length suggests. The lines are clearly built for pace above all else. Glass runs across several levels to open the interior to the view.

The exterior includes a fold-down transom that opens into a large swim platform with a beach club. A side-opening tender garage frees up deck space for guests to use. Outdoor living is spread across the levels for an owner who wants to be on deck. The layout turns the stern into a social hub at anchor. The styling puts speed and natural light first among the design priorities.

Cabins for the owner and guests

The layout places a full-beam master stateroom on the main deck, with further cabins below. The lower deck holds two VIP cabins and two twins with a pullman berth. Interior volume is trimmed to suit the demands of the fast planing hull. Finish and material choices followed the single owner's brief throughout. The main-deck master is a mark of the yacht's custom brief.

Crew accommodation is built around a captain's cabin and further bunk cabins. The plan keeps the owner's areas apart from the crew despite the sporting hull. Living space is arranged for warm-weather cruising and open-air living. Deck and interior flow together for a yacht used mostly in the sun. The interior serves an owner focused on time out on deck.

Triple power to 28 knots

The Superfast 42 runs three MTU 16V 2000 M96 L engines, two on traditional shaft lines and one driving a central Voith linear jet. That layout takes the yacht to a top speed of 28 knots and an easy cruise near 22 knots. The mixed drive is unusual for a yacht of this size and reflects the custom brief. The linear jet adds thrust without the draft a fourth shaft would need. Performance is built for fast coastal running between ports.

This is a yacht for an owner who wanted a fast, individual superyacht rather than a standard displacement build. It suits warm cruising grounds where a high top speed and shallow access both count. As a one-off it carries choices made for a single owner rather than a series. That makes it hard to compare directly with any production yacht on the market. For a buyer after something bespoke and quick, it is a clear reference point.

Who it is for: An owner seeking a bespoke, fast superyacht for warm coastal cruising, who values top-end speed and shallow-water access over the range and volume of a displacement yacht.
