The crossover that broadened the brand

The GranSport 33 launched in 2019 as the entry point to Mangusta's crossover line, a family designed to sit between the fast open boats and the heavy displacement yachts. It answered owners who wanted Mangusta style and pace but also comfort and range for longer trips. The model proved popular enough to run through several hulls before the yard closed the series in 2025. That production run makes it one of the more established designs in the modern range.

Its significance lies in showing that Mangusta could apply its sport identity to a more versatile, family focused yacht. The 33 packs the accommodation and deck space of a much larger boat into a size that a small crew can handle. It also introduced the quad Volvo IPS layout that defines the smaller GranSport idea. For many buyers it served as an accessible way into the brand. That breadth of use, from fast day trips to slower passages, is what the crossover label is meant to capture.

Long lines over a shallow hull

Alberto Mancini styled the GranSport 33 with clean, elongated lines that read clearly from a distance. The yacht is 33.3 metres overall with a beam of around 7.4 metres and a shallow draught close to 1.8 metres, which lets it work coastal shallows and tight anchorages. It is built in composite, keeping weight down for its efficient cruising character. Mancini also handled the naval architecture, giving the exterior and the hull a single guiding hand.

The layout makes the most of the length. A flybridge of around 56 square metres can be left open or enclosed as a sky lounge, and the foredeck carries a jacuzzi and sun pads as an adults' retreat. At the stern an electrically extending platform folds out into a broad beach club with a shower and a bathing ladder. Behind it a garage of about 28 square metres holds a jet tender of around 5.6 metres. The sun and shade options across these decks make the yacht comfortable through a full day at anchor.

A master suite that leads its class

The owner's suite sits forward on the main deck and runs to about 40 square metres, which the yard describes as the largest in the boat's class. It centres on the bed and adds a vanity and a spa style bathroom with switchable privacy glass. Placing the master on the main deck is unusual at this length and gives the owner light and outlook that smaller yachts cannot match. The interior was developed by the Mangusta design office.

On the lower deck four guest cabins accommodate the rest of the party, arranged as two convertible twin or double rooms and two singles that can take concealed children's bunks. Every cabin has its own bathroom and a discreet screen. That flexible mix makes the 33 well suited to families travelling with children as well as to couples. Guest capacity reaches up to twelve, with berths for five crew.

Quad IPS efficiency

The GranSport 33 runs on four Volvo Penta D13 engines of about 1,000 hp each, driving four IPS 1350 pod units. The forward facing tractor propellers give strong efficiency and precise joystick manoeuvring, which eases berthing and station keeping. Top speed sits at 25 knots or a little more, with a cruise around 21 knots. The pod layout is the technical heart of the smaller GranSport concept.

The design earns its crossover name through range as much as speed. At a relaxed 10 knots the yard quotes roughly 1,150 nautical miles, which opens up longer coastal passages than an open sport boat would attempt. Nearer cruising speed the figure falls to around 340 nautical miles, so the owner can trade pace for distance as a trip demands. Composite construction and the efficient pods together give the boat its unusually wide operating envelope.

Built for the versatile owner

The GranSport 33 suits an owner who wants one boat to do several jobs, from quick coastal runs to slower cruising with a family aboard. The shallow draught and joystick control make it approachable for an owner who likes to be involved in handling. Five crew keep the running costs modest for a yacht of this capability. The efficient pod drive holds fuel use down relative to a planing boat of similar size. Its flexible cabins and generous deck spaces reward extended time on board rather than short outings alone.

In the market the 33 competed as a semi custom crossover in the low thirties metres, a space where few builders offered Mangusta's blend of style and efficiency. Its main deck master and quad IPS package were genuine points of difference. With the series now closed, the existing hulls circulate on the brokerage market. For a buyer after a flexible, easily handled Italian yacht, the 33 remains a strong reference point.
