Nomad 75

The Nomad 75 is the senior owner-operator boat in the explorer line, a 22.9 metre semi-displacement yacht with 1,550 hp a side, four guest staterooms and 2,300 nautical miles of range at 12 knots. The Nomad family made its debut at the Dubai show in 2015 and was reworked as the solar-assisted SUV series in 2019, and the 75 has been the line's backbone through both generations, offered with an open flybridge or a fully enclosed upper deck.

Where the Nomad idea started

Gulf Craft launched the Nomad line at the Dubai International Boat Show in 2015 with a plain pitch, yachts built to go somewhere, and the 75 quickly became its centre of gravity. In 2019 the yard unveiled the updated SUV series, adding integrated solar panels to feed the house systems and refining the hulls, with the 75 flanked by the 65 below and the then flagship 95 above.

Two generations in, the boat's job has never changed. She is the largest Nomad an owner can plausibly run without professional management, big enough for two crew when wanted, manageable enough for a capable owner-skipper with family aboard, and engineered around the assumption that the itinerary will outrun the marina Wi-Fi. That dual character is the model's appeal, most owners want the horizon and the harbour in the same hull.

A hull that treats range as the headline

At 12 knots the Nomad 75 covers 2,300 nautical miles, drawing on 7,880 litres of fuel, which reads the entire Arabian Gulf, the Maldives run or an eastern Mediterranean season without a bunkering diary. Push the twin 1,550 hp diesels and the semi-displacement hull runs into the mid twenties for the days when distance matters less than dinner reservations.

The hull carries roughly 70 tonnes of displacement on a 6.05 metre beam with a 1.52 metre draft, numbers that add up to a stable, dry, shallow-capable platform. Gulf Craft's GRP construction does its usual quiet work, no corrosion clock ticking, moderate weight for the volume, and structure proven across hundreds of hulls in permanent warm water service.

Open bridge or enclosed, owner's choice

The 75 is offered in two distinct top configurations, a classic open flybridge for fair weather cruising or a fully enclosed upper deck that turns the same real estate into an air conditioned command and lounge space. In the Gulf summer or a Biscay autumn the enclosed version effectively adds a season to the calendar at either end. In practice the choice tracks home waters, open tops for the Mediterranean, enclosed for the Gulf summer.

Either way the boat keeps the Nomad signatures, tall bulwarks and deep side decks that feel safe with children aboard, big fuel and water reserves, generous cold storage, and panoramic glazing in the main salon. A 35 kW generator carries the domestic load at anchor, where a boat like this spends most of its life.

Four staterooms and room for crew

Below deck the 75 sleeps eight guests in four staterooms, a full beam master amidships where the motion is gentlest, a VIP forward and two further cabins, each with sensible stowage sized for weeks away. Two dedicated crew cabins aft let owners carry a captain and a deckhand-cook when the season demands it.

The interior priorities are an owner's priorities, engine access an engineer would approve of, sightlines from the galley to the cockpit where the children are, and finishes chosen to survive salt, sunscreen and a decade of real use. Nothing aboard needs a specialist to operate, which is the quiet definition of an owner's boat. It is luxury calibrated for living aboard, which is a different discipline from luxury calibrated for a boat show berth.

The case against the usual suspects

Shopping at 23 metres usually means fast Italian flybridge production with 400 mile legs, or a heavy trawler yacht that never sees 10 knots. The Nomad 75 sits deliberately between, triple the range of the first group, ten knots faster than the second, and priced off a UAE production line that undercuts both European routes.

For Gulf-based owners there is a service network argument on top, the builder's own yards in Umm Al Quwain, Ajman and the Maldives sit inside the boat's natural cruising circle. The 75 suits the owner whose chart already has pencil lines on it, and who wants one boat that can do the crossing in spring and the cocktail hour in July.

Motoren und Technik

EnginesTwin MAN V12-1550 diesels, 1,550hp (1,140kW) each, cross-checked across Motor Boat & Yachting, Barche Magazine's Nomad 75 SUV spec sheet, the official Nomad Yachts site and YachtBuyer.
Top speedStated conflict: 24 knots per Motor Boat & Yachting and YachtBuyer's Nomad 75 SUV listing, versus 25 knots per Barche Magazine, versus up to 26 knots cited for the earlier non-SUV Nomad 75 variant.
Cruise speedStated conflict: 10-12 knots per Motor Boat & Yachting's own sea trial, burning 75 litres an hour, versus 16 knots per YachtBuyer's Nomad 75 SUV spec sheet.
RangeStated conflict: the builder's own site states 2,300nm at 12 knots, matching this page's standfirst figure; YachtBuyer's Nomad 75 SUV page states 1,300nm at 10 knots; Barche Magazine states 1,360nm at 10 knots. That same Barche entry also lists lower 1,200hp engines, suggesting a possible data mismatch at that source rather than a genuinely different boat.
Fuel tankage7,880 litres (2,081 to 2,082 US gallons), consistent across Motor Boat & Yachting, YachtBuyer and the official Nomad Yachts site.
Fresh waterApproximately 1,290 to 1,325 litres depending on source, minor rounding differences rather than a hard conflict.
StabilisersTwin Seakeeper gyro stabilisers. Motor Boat & Yachting's sea-trialled hull specifies Seakeeper 16; a Barche Magazine feature on an earlier-spec Nomad 75 lists Seakeeper NG9, likely reflecting a different model year rather than a factual conflict on the same hull.
GeneratorStated conflict: Kohler 33kW per Barche Magazine's Nomad 75 SUV spec sheet versus 35kW per the official Nomad Yachts site.
Hull and constructionGRP semi-displacement hull with a round bilge, explicitly built for efficiency and comfortable motion at 18-22 knot cruise per Gulf Craft's own product description; superstructure and deck use carbon fibre and Kevlar reinforcement for stiffness and weight saving. RINA Design Category A certified per YachtBuyer's spec sheet.
Naval architectureStated conflict on credit: marine trade press credits British naval architect Andrew Wolstenholme of Wolstenholme Yacht Design for the Nomad SUV range's hull lines; Gulf Craft's own release for the earlier Nomad 75 credits its in-house Design Studio as naval architect, interior designer and owner's project manager.
Tenders and toysBathing platform with tender garage and hydraulic transformer lift for launching tenders and water toys, per Gulf Craft's own product material.
Notable amenitiesFull-beam forward owner's suite on the main deck with 180 degree views, VIP suite in the bow, two further guest cabins, enclosed sky lounge with bi-fold doors on the bridge deck and an enclosed wheelhouse for the skipper.

Was Eigner und Crew berichten

Was gut ist und worauf zu achten ist

Stärken

  • Real, independently verified interior volume for its lengthA proper tri-deck arrangement, not just a flybridge, gives a full-beam forward owner's suite on the main deck with 180 degree views, a VIP suite in the bow bigger than many yachts' master cabins and an enclosed sky lounge, confirmed by an independent sea trial rather than only builder photography.
  • Long-range cruising is a demonstrated capability, not just a spec sheet numberThe boat self-delivered from the Gulf to Cannes under its own power. The official range figure of 2,300nm at 12 knots puts it well ahead of most 75-foot flybridge rivals, which are built for coastal cruising rather than ocean crossings.
  • Efficient semi-displacement hull with real fuel numbers from an independent testAn independent tester measured 75 litres per hour at the 10-12 knot cruise setting, a genuinely modest figure for a 68 to 70 tonne, 75 foot yacht, backed by a round-bilge hull form intended to smooth motion at sea rather than just look purposeful.

Worauf zu achten ist

  • GRP construction sits oddly against the explorer branding at this sizeThe hull, superstructure and deck are GRP with carbon fibre and Kevlar reinforcement, not the steel or aluminium ice-classed construction buyers typically associate with true expedition yachts. Its actual rival set, per YachtBuyer's own comparison tool, is GRP flybridge motoryachts from Sunseeker, Sanlorenzo, Horizon, Azimut and Princess, not metal-hulled expedition builders like Bering or Nordhavn. A buyer wanting genuine ice-class or long-term remote-cruising toughness should treat explorer here as a styling and range position, not a hull-technology claim.
  • Two different Nomad 75 configurations share a name and confuse the public recordGulf Craft sold an original 2015-2022 Nomad 75 and a later Nomad 75 SUV under near-identical naming, with materially different cabin counts, range and speed figures depending on source and model year. A prospective buyer researching the model online will hit genuinely conflicting specs. Gulf Craft's own published materials are not fully consistent on which entity, its in-house Design Studio or external naval architect Andrew Wolstenholme, did the naval architecture.
  • No independent owner-operator or captain testimonial is publicly availableEvery first-hand account found for this specific model is either a single independent journalist sea trial or Gulf Craft's own promotional material. There is no verifiable named private owner or professional captain on record discussing multi-season running costs, service intervals or reliability, a real gap for a boat pitched on long-range liveaboard use.

Praktische Angaben

PriceUSD 3.7 million ex-tax reported by Motor Boat & Yachting at the time of its 2019 sea trial; a 2022 model-year hull was separately listed at EUR 2,118,000, about USD 2.5 million. These are two different data points years apart, not a confirmed current builder price list. Treat them as dated reference figures rather than as today's price.
Where builtGulf Craft's own shipyard in Umm Al Quwain, United Arab Emirates.
Charter availabilityNone found. YachtCharterFleet's own Nomad 75 charter listing page currently returns zero available yachts; the brand's charter angle for this model is effectively a try-before-you-buy enquiry route through brokers rather than an active charter fleet.
What is not publishedNo confirmed current base price from Gulf Craft itself, no published gross tonnage figure, no independently confirmed total hull or production count and no named private owner or captain testimonial for this specific model anywhere in the public record.

Für wen: An experienced owner-skipper who wants genuine passage range and family space in a boat two crew can polish and one owner can command.
