Where the FD series was always heading

The FD line began at the 2017 Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show with the FD85, a collaboration between Horizon and Dutch designer Cor D. Rover that started, by the yard's own telling, with a sketch, a chance meeting and the willingness to take a risk. Twenty hulls sold in the first three years. The series now runs from the FD75 to this boat, the FD130, its largest expression yet.

Every FD shares the same idea: take the interior volume of a much larger yacht, package it over a fast displacement hull with the High Performance Piercing Bow, and sell it with Horizon's semi-custom flexibility. The FD130 applies that recipe at 125 feet, and it is slated for construction at Premier Shipyard alongside the group's other flagship projects.

Beach house logic at 125 feet

Horizon pitches the FD130 as a beach house on the water, and the renderings make the case. Vast near-vertical glass runs the length of the main deck and flybridge, the superstructure pushes far forward over the piercing bow, and the aft end of each deck opens onto broad terraces. Double salons give the main deck a proper living room and a separate dining room, sparing guests the single long compromise space most tri-decks settle for.

The layout follows FD practice. A full-beam master cabin sits forward on the main deck with those floor-to-ceiling windows on both sides, four en-suite staterooms wait below, and cabin plans extend to seven guest cabins in some configurations, with published arrangements sleeping up to twelve. A spacious galley serves both salons, and crew quarters are sized for a crew of up to eight.

Flagship dimensions, sensible draft

The FD130 measures 38.10 meters overall on a 35.00 meter waterline with an 8.2 meter beam, displacing 210 tons, and it still draws only 2.13 meters, shallow enough for the Bahamas banks and the Intracoastal marinas where many of these boats will live. Power is a pair of 1,800 horsepower Caterpillar C32A diesels, with twin 65 kW Onan generators for the hotel load.

Tankage is set up for distance: 30,280 liters of fuel, around 8,000 US gallons, alongside 3,025 liters of fresh water backed by watermakers. The fast displacement hull is the same efficiency story as the rest of the series, engineered to run economically at displacement speeds while holding a comfortable motion in a seaway, with the piercing bow softening the ride into head seas.

A series boat where it counts

Buying the flagship of a production family has a quiet advantage over commissioning a one-off: the platform's engineering, systems layout and hull behavior are already proven across dozens of smaller FD hulls, from the FD75 to the FD110. Horizon applies the same resin-infused composite construction and in-house joinery across the series, so the FD130's build risk is a fraction of what a first-of-type custom project carries.

The semi-custom process still leaves the interior genuinely open. FD owners have specified everything from on-deck jacuzzis to full skylounge conversions on smaller models, and the FD130's volume gives an owner and designer more freedom again. Horizon's record of moving quickly from contract to delivery on the FD platform is part of the pitch to owners tired of four-year European build slots.

Status, and the smart early move

Horizon presents the FD130 as the new flagship of the FD range, and as of mid-2026 the yard's own material describes the design as being in its conceptual stage, with trade reporting placing the first build at Premier Shipyard. No delivery has been announced, which for the right owner is exactly the opportunity: hull one of a flagship series is the boat the yard cannot afford to get wrong.

An early client gets to fix the layout before tooling hardens, negotiate the specification from the front of the queue and take delivery of the largest FD afloat. Given how quickly the FD110 sold once hulls hit the water, five before the first delivery in 2022, the FD130's order book is unlikely to stay open at hull one pricing for long.
