An owner who decided to build

Numarine began in 2002 when Omer Malaz, a Turkish entrepreneur who had owned and cruised production yachts for years, concluded that nothing on the market gave him what he actually wanted on board. He set up his own yard at Gebze, on the industrial shore east of Istanbul, and launched his first model, the 52 Open, in 2003. The company counts nearly 200 yachts launched since, which makes it one of the few builders in the superyacht conversation with genuine series production behind it.

For its first decade and a half Numarine was a performance brand. Hardtop and flybridge cruisers up to 105 feet, drawn with sharp exterior styling by Istanbul designer Can Yalman, sold steadily across the Mediterranean and taught the yard to build to a schedule and a specification at sizes where most competitors build one-offs. That production discipline, more than any single model, is the asset the current explorer range is built on.

The bet that became the brand

In June 2016 Numarine sold the first hull of the 32XP, a 32 metre steel hulled displacement explorer, to an experienced owner, and delivered her in 2017 as Marla. She was the yard's first true superyacht and its first explorer, conceived around range, volume and shallow draft at a moment when the expedition look was still a niche taste. The market answered quickly, and the follow-on 26XP became a phenomenon, with 30 hulls now cruising worldwide.

On the strength of that response Numarine retired its performance lines entirely and became an explorer-only builder, a transition its own heritage material describes as a move made in harmony with the growing appetite for long range, autonomous cruising. It is a rare example of a production yard abandoning a working formula for a better one, and the delivery record since suggests the timing was right.

One design language, three families

The whole range comes from a stable creative team. Can Yalman draws the exteriors and much of the interior styling, Umberto Tagliavini of Marine Design and Services in Italy does the naval architecture, and Milan studio Hot Lab has joined on interiors for the newest models. The XP series is the core, pure explorers from 22 to 45 metres. The MXP line, for Mediterranean Explorer, keeps the platform and gives the aft end to pools, beach clubs and terraces.

In April 2026 the yard added a third family, the Classic line, launching with the 38XPC and 39MXPC. These take the same steel hulls and 6,000 mile legs and dress them in traditional proportions with teak detailing, aimed at owners who want the capability without the workboat look. Numarine frames the word classic as proportion, clarity and elegance expressed in a contemporary way.

Series production at superyacht sizes

Everything is built at the 35,000 square metre Gebze facility, which the yard states can turn out up to 20 yachts a year. Build times are short for the category, quoted at 18 months for the steel hulled 32 to 40 metre models, around 36 months for the 45 and 47 metre flagships, and as little as 8 to 10 months for the GRP boats under 31 metres. RINA class covers the steel range, with commercial compliance available on several models.

For an owner the practical meaning is predictability. Sisterships exist to walk through and sea trial, options are engineered once and proven across hulls, delivery slots are measured in months, and resale sits on an established model name with a visible fleet. Very few yards offer that at 350 to 500 gross tons, which is precisely the space Numarine has chosen to occupy.
