30XP

The 30XP is Numarine's technology flagship in miniature, the first yacht in the fleet offered with diesel electric propulsion. First hull Minella made her debut at the Cannes and Monaco shows in September 2024 and was delivered the same year, and a second hybrid sister has followed down the ways. At 30.9 metres and 213 GT, she pairs a 3,500 nautical mile range with a ten month build time and a draft of just 1.93 metres.

The electric experiment that shipped

Numarine announced the 30XP as its first diesel electric model, and unlike most hybrid announcements in this industry, the boat exists. Minella, the first hull, was shown at the Cannes Yachting Festival and the Monaco Yacht Show in September 2024 and delivered to her owners that year. The yard has since launched a second hybrid 30XP, turning what could have remained a boat show technology statement into the beginnings of a working series with paying owners aboard.

The alternative propulsion package replaces the conventional twin 560 horsepower MAN diesels with four MASE generators feeding two 200 kW Danfoss electric motors. The arrangement lets the yacht run on one to four gensets as load demands, hold station or cruise slowly in near silence, and spread machinery wear across multiple small units instead of two large ones.

Why electric suits an explorer

Diesel electric drive makes particular sense at displacement speeds, where conventional engines idle along far below efficient load. Generators can run at their sweet spot and shut down in turn, and the practical gains show up where owners live, quieter nights at anchor, less vibration underway and redundancy that turns a mechanical failure from a cruise ending event into a maintenance note.

Numarine offers the 30XP both ways, and the choice frames the model neatly. In conventional trim she is the simplest, most economical XP. In hybrid trim she is a test bed the owner benefits from, carrying the yard's electrical ambitions at a size where the systems stay manageable and the savings are felt on every quiet evening on board.

Four generators, two electric motors and silent nights at anchor, delivered, shown and repeated within a year.

The GRP question, answered honestly

Below 32 metres Numarine builds in GRP, and the 30XP carries a composite hull and superstructure where her larger sisters use steel. The payoff is a ten month build time, roughly half the steel schedule, lighter displacement at 154 tonnes full load, and a draft of 1.93 metres that opens water even the 32XP cannot reach. RINA Pleasure class still applies.

The trade is real, composite will never carry the gravitas or the ice brushing confidence of plate steel. But at 213 gross tons with the same design language, the same visual muscle and most of the same capability, the 30XP delivers the XP experience at a lower entry cost and a fraction of the wait, which for many owners is the deciding argument.

Ten guests, five crew, 3,500 miles

The layout sleeps ten guests in five cabins with five crew in three, a generous ratio at 30 metres that keeps service standards close to the larger boats. Minella's interior drew notice for its pale, Scandinavian influenced scheme, and the semi custom process gives each owner similar latitude. Oversized glazing and high ceilings continue the family trait of feeling a size bigger than the papers say.

Performance lands where the XP formula predicts, 13 knots maximum, 12 cruising, and 3,500 nautical miles at 8 knots from 18,500 litres of fuel. That is transatlantic capable with planning and covers any Mediterranean or Caribbean season without a fuel dock dictating the itinerary. The 2,500 litre fresh water capacity and full size tender stowage support proper time away from harbours.

Where she sits in the range

The 30XP occupies the step between the owner operator friendly 27XP and the steel 32XP, and she borrows arguments from both directions, more volume and crew capacity than the smaller boat, quicker delivery and lower draft than the larger one. For owners graduating from 24 metre flybridge yachts into a first crewed explorer, she is the natural first Numarine and the most forgiving introduction the range offers.

She is also, quietly, the yard's laboratory. The hybrid package proven here informs the energy systems appearing across the newer models, including the battery and solar equipped 27XP. Buying the 30XP in diesel electric form means owning the boat where Numarine's next decade of propulsion thinking is being run in, with the yard's full attention on the early hulls.

A chi si rivolge: An owner stepping up from a 24 metre class yacht who wants the explorer stance, a shallow draft and real range on a manageable platform, and is curious enough about hybrid propulsion to want it proven, optional and supported by the yard that builds it.
