Sanlorenzo's 72m Silver Fox turns machinery space into a spa

The flagship, and who drew her

Silver Fox measures 72 m on a 13.1 m beam, with a maximum draught of 3.4 m and six decks. She was sold in November 2021 through Edmiston, launched in October 2025 and delivered in the spring of 2026. Volume is where the record disagrees: SuperYacht Times measures her at 1,946 GT while BOAT International reports 1,800 GT.

Zuccon International Project drew the exterior and is credited by SuperYacht Times with the naval architecture as well. The interiors are by Francesco Paszkowski Design in collaboration with Margherita Casprini, and the released images show a softer, more residential register than the yard's fibreglass ranges. She took the flagship title from the 66-metre Attila by six metres, and has already lost it to the second 74Steel, the 73-metre Virtuosity, launched at the end of June.

The machinery that made the room

The diesel-electric system was engineered in-house in collaboration with Siemens Energy. Instead of two large main engines, six Volvo Penta D13 gensets of 1,000 kW each, 1,341 hp apiece and 6,000 kW in total, feed a pair of pods. Maximum speed is 16.5 knots and cruising speed is 11 knots.

That arrangement is the whole argument. Six compact gensets can be distributed and stacked in ways two large blocks and their shaft lines cannot, and pods remove the gearboxes and the shafting aft. The engine room shrinks, and the space it stops occupying is at the bottom of the boat, next to the water, which is precisely the real estate a beach club wants.

Where the volume went

The beach club has been drawn as a dedicated spa and fitness retreat and not as a garage that empties into a swim platform once the toys are out. The wellness area uses the full 13.1 m beam and runs to a massage room, sauna, hammam, plunge pool and a family room for younger guests. Sanlorenzo says both the beach club and the spa are significantly larger than those on a conventional yacht of similar size.

The owner's accommodation takes a deck of its own, with a private hot tub and dining area, two spa-inspired bathrooms, a lounge and an office. Five en suite guest cabins sit on the main deck alongside the lounge and formal dining. The sundeck carries the bar, a forward firepit and jacuzzi flanked by sunpads, and a transparent glass windbreak under the hardtop. Two tender garages amidships hold a 10-metre Pascoe limo tender and the crew tender, and there is a touch-and-go helipad.

The operating numbers behind it

Twelve guests are looked after by a crew of 21, which includes a media team. That guest count is conventional for the length, which is the point: the extra volume did not go into cabins. Sanlorenzo chairman and chief executive Massimo Perotti framed the flagship at launch as a challenge to the idea that size equals excess.

Silver Fox has entered the Edmiston charter fleet and is available from EUR 900,000 per week under the YET scheme. She spent the spring on the French Riviera hosting a brand activation across the Cannes Film Festival and the Monaco Grand Prix. A weekly rate that public is one of the few ways the market gets to price a wellness-led layout against a conventional one at the same length.

Why it matters to an owner

Diesel-electric has usually been sold on fuel burn and noise. Silver Fox reframes it as a layout argument, and that is an easier case to make to the person signing. Machinery volume converted into a spa deck is space in daily use, not a line in an efficiency report that nobody reads after the first season.

For a buyer specifying a new build in the 60 to 80-metre band, the question to put to the yard has changed. It is no longer whether hybrid or diesel-electric saves money over a season. It is how many square metres of guest space the propulsion choice buys back, where on the boat those metres land, and what the yard will commit to in writing before the general arrangement is frozen.
