Motores y sistemas
| Engines | Twin Caterpillar 3512C diesels, reported as ~2,011-2,012 hp (1,500 kW) each on shaft drives, twin screw. Figure is consistent (to within rounding) across Romeo United Yachts, YachtBuyer and YachtCharterFleet spec sheets. |
|---|---|
| Speed | Max speed 16.5 knots is the figure repeated almost everywhere (Amels' own fleet pages, Romeo United Yachts, YachtBuyer, YachtCharterFleet); a couple of AI-summarised search snippets round it to '16 knots', which looks like imprecision rather than a real second figure. Cruise speed is genuinely disputed: 13 knots (YachtBuyer, Yacht Harbour, YachtCharterFleet, and implied by Amels' own fleet pages, which quote range 'at 13.0 knots') versus 15 knots (Romeo United Yachts' Stardust and model-overview listings). The 13-knot figure has the wider and more consistent backing. |
| Range | 5,000 nautical miles at 13 knots - consistent across Amels' own site, Romeo United Yachts, YachtBuyer and YachtCharterFleet. |
| Fuel tankage | 139,000 litres (36,720 US gal) - agreed across Romeo United Yachts, YachtBuyer and YachtCharterFleet. |
| Fresh water tankage | 37,600 litres (~9,933 US gal) - agreed across Romeo United Yachts and YachtBuyer/YachtCharterFleet. |
| Stabilisers | Fitted, operable underway and at anchor, per Romeo United Yachts and YachtBuyer/YachtCharterFleet. No make/model, size or number of fins is published by any source checked. |
| Gearboxes, generators, thrusters, watermaker | Not disclosed by any source found - Amels' own fleet pages, YachtBuyer, YachtCharterFleet, Superyachts.com and Romeo United Yachts all omit generator make/kW, gearbox model, bow/stern thruster specification and watermaker output for this model. This is a genuine public-data gap, not an oversight in this research. |
| Hull and superstructure | Steel hull, aluminium superstructure, teak decks - no disagreement found across sources (Romeo United Yachts, YachtBuyer, YachtCharterFleet, Wikipedia's entry for the related Sea and Us). |
| Classification and flag | Lloyd's Register is named by two independent sources: YachtBuyer states 'Lloyd's Register' plainly, and YachtCharterFleet gives a full notation - '100A1, SSC Yacht mono G6 LMC, UMS, SCM'. Flag state for Stardust is given as Cayman Islands by Boat International's directory and YachtBuyer; YachtCharterFleet did not state a flag. |
| Gross tonnage | Reported figures disagree: 1,147 GT (Romeo United Yachts, YachtBuyer, YachtCharterFleet) versus 1,161 GT (Amels' own amelsyachting.com fleet page for Stardust, and Boat International/CharterWorld coverage of her launch). The 1,147 GT figure has slightly wider agreement among dedicated spec-sheet sources, but the 1,161 GT figure comes directly from the builder's own current site, so neither should be treated as settled. |
Lo que cuentan armadores y tripulaciones
On seeing the hull painted and outside for the first time
It's a wonderful build milestone to see her outside. Everyone's done an exceptional job, particularly on the finish.
Fraser Gow, Build Captain, Amels/Damen Yachting (on Stardust)On the design language of the 206
The boat is full of details, little surprises, little differences, describing the Scimitar bow and tumblehome form changes carried over and refined from the 199 platform.
Tim Heywood, Exterior Designer (Amels 206 / Stardust)On the 206 as a design statement
This yacht is without doubt the greatest thing I've produced, but it's just a jewel - quote carried on Amels' own site, so should be read as the builder's own promotional account of its designer's view rather than independent reporting.
Tim Heywood, Exterior Designer, quoted on Amels Yachting's own websiteOn completing Stardust for her owner
She is a beautiful yacht with striking curves. We're proud to be completing this yacht for our client.
Rose Damen, Managing Director, Damen Yachting
Lo bueno y lo que conviene vigilar
Puntos fuertes
- Distinctive, market-recognised designThe Tim Heywood Scimitar bow and round-window styling that defines the 206 traces back to the Amels 199 line (EVENT won the World Superyacht Award in 2014), and press coverage of Stardust's launch consistently singles the look out as unusual for a semi-custom yard model.
- Confirmed range and tankage for long-range cruising5,000nm at 13 knots on 139,000 litres of fuel is corroborated by multiple independent spec sheets (Romeo United Yachts, YachtBuyer, YachtCharterFleet), giving genuine transatlantic-class range for a 62m yacht.
- Proven, widely serviceable propulsionTwin Caterpillar 3512C diesels are a well-established marine engine with a global Cat dealer network, reducing service risk relative to more exotic propulsion choices.
- Extreme rarityOn the best available evidence only one hull (Stardust) is confirmed as a genuine Amels 206, making it one of the most exclusive semi-custom models in its size class.
A tener en cuenta
- Major systems data is simply not publicGenerator output, gearbox model, thruster specification and watermaker capacity are absent from every spec sheet checked (Amels' own site, YachtBuyer, YachtCharterFleet, Romeo United Yachts, Superyachts.com), which is an unusual gap for a buyer trying to evaluate the model against rivals.
- Model identity is muddled, even by the builderAmels' own current website labels the older 60m Amels 199 sisters EVENT and MADAME KATE, and the disputed SEA AND US, as 'Amels 206' fleet entries, contradicting Wikipedia's and CharterWorld's classification of those three as Amels 199s. A prospective buyer or researcher cannot get a clean, agreed hull count from public sources.
- Cruise speed is not settledBrokerage listings (Romeo United Yachts) state 15 knots cruise; press/spec-sheet sources (YachtBuyer, Yacht Harbour, YachtCharterFleet) state 13 knots, tied to the quoted range figure. No source explains the discrepancy.
- Almost no market evidenceWith the sole confirmed hull not for sale or charter, and the only other candidate hull's $70 million figure being an unverified valuation-site estimate rather than a transacted price, there is essentially no real resale or charter market data to benchmark against.
Información práctica
| New-build price | Romeo United Yachts' brokerage listing quotes a base new-build price of EUR65,000,000 for a Limited Editions 206 slot (referenced there as hull '206-005', quoted for 2023 delivery). This is a brokerage-quoted asking figure, not a price confirmed by Amels/Damen Yachting itself, and it is unclear whether that hull was ever actually built and named. |
|---|---|
| Hulls delivered | One hull is unambiguously and universally identified as an Amels 206: STARDUST, delivered 2020 (Boat International, Superyachts.com, YachtCharterFleet, YachtBuyer, CharterWorld, Yacht Harbour, and Amels' own site all agree). A second vessel, SEA AND US (delivered 2018, later renamed SERENITY AND UNITY), is labelled 'Amels 206' by Amels' own current fleet pages and by Romeo United Yachts, but Wikipedia and CharterWorld instead identify her as an Amels 199 (yard number 199#3), a sister ship to the 60m EVENT (2013) and MADAME KATE (2015) - both of which multiple independent sources (CharterWorld, SuperyachtFan, Boat International, YachtBuyer) confirm are Amels 199s, not 206s, despite currently also being tagged 'Amels 206' on Amels' own website. This looks like a labelling error on the builder's current site rather than a real second 206 hull, but it could not be independently resolved. Net: STARDUST is the only hull this research can confirm as a genuine, delivered Amels 206. |
| Resale / charter evidence | STARDUST is explicitly listed as 'not for charter' and 'not for sale' by YachtCharterFleet and Romeo United Yachts. SEA AND US / SERENITY AND UNITY is not on the brokerage market either; SuperyachtFan estimates her value at $70 million, but this is an unverified valuation-site estimate, not a reported sale or asking price. |
| Running costs | One outlet, Luxurylaunches, cited a ~$200 million valuation and $20-25 million annual running cost for Stardust; this could not be corroborated by any other source and reads as a generic industry rule-of-thumb (running costs are commonly estimated at 10 percent of build/valuation) rather than a reported figure specific to this yacht, so it should be treated with caution. |
| Not published | Generator make/output, gearbox model, thruster specification, watermaker capacity, and a confirmed total hull count for the model are not published by any source found in this research. |
