Azimut Fly 72

Motores y sistemas

Engines2 x MAN CR V12, 1,400hp each, straight-shaft drive, confirmed by three independent sources.
GearboxesNot specified in any source found - an unpublished spec, not an oversight.
GeneratorTwin 22kW generators, per one review only - single-sourced, treat as provisional.
StabilisationHumphree interceptors (active trim) standard, confirmed by two sources. The Seakeeper 18 gyro stabiliser is optional per one review at EUR 199,350; a separate review's test boat appears to have had it fitted, a minor conflict on standard versus optional.
Bow thruster and dockingBow thruster with joystick docking is implied standard by one review, but a separate review states joystick control is optional as part of an Advance Package - a minor unresolved conflict.
WatermakerOptional, with a pre-threaded installation port, per one source only - not confirmed elsewhere.
Fuel tankage5,200 litres / 1,373 US gallons, confirmed by four sources.
Water tankage1,100 litres / approximately 290 US gallons, confirmed by four sources with only minor rounding differences.
RangeThe yard's own figures: 451nm at 14.8kn slow cruise, 323nm at 26kn fast cruise. An independent sea trial reported a similar order of magnitude: 300-plus nm at 25kn, 1,000-plus nm at 8-10kn - roughly consistent.
Cruise speed - flagged conflictNominal spec cruise is up to 26kn per the yard and two independent sources. One reviewer's own sea-trial-day cruise setting was measured at 20.7kn, a genuinely lower figure from the same outlet's own test - not resolved or averaged.
Max speed - flagged conflict32kn per one review and the yard's own spec, against 31kn per two other independent sources. Both figures are reported rather than averaged.
Stateroom count - flagged conflictOne review's July 2025 test describes a three-stateroom layout; the yard's own spec page lists four cabins plus one crew cabin for the same current generation. Could reflect an optional three-cabin owner's-version layout, but no source confirms that explicitly.
Engine room accessWatertight door access from the crew area and cockpit, described as spacious with excellent access by two independent sources.

Lo bueno y lo que conviene vigilar

Puntos fuertes

  • Fuel efficiencyMotor Boat and Yachting's sea trial measured cruise consumption almost 30 percent less than a Pearl 72, a direct rival, attributed to the vacuum-infused hull and straight-shaft efficiency.
  • Foredeck lounge and deck spacesCalled arguably the best foredeck in the class, with a folding lounge and sunpad mechanism, and one of the largest flybridge lounge areas in its class.
  • Engine room accessDescribed as a cavernous, mechanic's dream with excellent access, and watertight-door access from both the crew area and cockpit - confirmed by two independent reviews.
  • Ride and handlingCalled a beautifully balanced boat, running flat without heavy trim-tab input, with perfectly weighted steering. In lumpy seas the optional Seakeeper 18 gyro turned it into a millpond.
  • Low noiseMeasured at 65 dB(A) at the helm at 20 knots.

A tener en cuenta

  • Lower helm sightlineThe view to port from the lower helm is compromised to some degree by eye-level galley lockers and rather tall helm seats.
  • Helm ergonomicsThe throttles and wheel are a bit of a stretch when sitting back in the seats.
  • Stabilisation is a costly extra, not standardThe Seakeeper 18 gyro that reviewers praise for ride comfort is an option, not standard equipment, listed at EUR 199,350 on top of the base price.

Información práctica

Nameplate collision warningBrokers currently list at least three distinct generations under overlapping names: a 2015-2020 generation with a Stefano Righini interior, a 2021-2023 generation, and the current 2023-on generation with a Fabio Fantolino interior and Alberto Mancini exterior researched here. Specs and reviews should not be blended across these without checking the model year.
Price - newEUR 3,300,000 ex VAT starting price, per Azimut's own press materials at the Cannes 2023 launch - the manufacturer's own account, not an independent valuation.
Brokerage asking prices by generationPer a market survey: the 2015-2020 generation asks around USD 2.8-3.0m on average; the 2021-2023 generation around USD 2.9-3.1m; the current generation around USD 3.5m. The price bands overlap closely enough that generation, not price, has to be the check.
Running costsNo model-specific running-cost figures were found published anywhere.
Delivery lead timeNo general order-to-delivery lead time was found published; dealer stock listings show 2025-2026 model-year units available for immediate delivery, which is inventory availability, not a stated production lead time.
What is not publishedGearbox make and model, a confirmed generator kW rating (single-sourced only), any resale-value track record given the model's age, and any independent long-term reliability or maintenance history.
