Amels 212

Interni Winch, spazio wide-body

Motori e impianti

EnginesMost sources agree on twin Caterpillar 3516B diesels, rated around 2,682 hp (2,000 kW) each at 1,600 rpm, confirmed by Power & Motor Yacht's on-board feature on Imagine, CharterWorld and Yacht Harbour's spec page for Ventum Maris. One source, Yacht Buyer's new-model page, instead lists the 3516C C05 at 3,151 hp each. Treat 3516B / 2,682 hp as the better-supported figure, but the spec is not fully consistent across public listings.
GearboxesReintjes WAF 863, with fixed-pitch five-blade cunial propellers on a shaft drive, per CharterWorld. Single-sourced, not corroborated elsewhere.
GeneratorsThree Caterpillar C9 units at 200 ekW each, plus an emergency Caterpillar C4.4 at 86 ekW, per CharterWorld. Single-sourced, not corroborated elsewhere.
StabilisersA zero-speed capable active stabiliser system, working underway and at anchor, per CharterWorld and Romeo United Yachts. Power & Motor Yacht's captain interview names the brand as Quantum, but that is the only source to do so.
ThrustersA Voith 'extra silent inline' electric bow thruster rated at 180 ekW, per CharterWorld, corroborated on the electric/low-noise point by Yacht Buyer. No stern thruster is mentioned in any source found.
WatermakerBrand named as Hydromar for hull Imagine (Power & Motor Yacht), with CharterWorld separately describing 'two reverse-osmosis watermakers' with no brand or capacity given. Capacity is not disclosed anywhere found.
Fuel tankage155,000 litres, the best-corroborated figure on the spec sheet, agreed across CharterWorld, Romeo United Yachts and Yacht Buyer.
Fresh waterAround 38,000 litres has majority support (CharterWorld, Romeo United Yachts, Power & Motor Yacht), against a lower figure of 36,400 litres from Yacht Buyer.
Range and speed5,000 nautical miles at 13 knots cruise is well corroborated across four sources. Top speed of 17 knots is consistent everywhere.

Cosa convince e cosa va valutato

Punti di forza

  • Documented cost and time advantage over full customBoat International reports the Limited Editions range comes in around 30 percent less than a fully custom yacht of the same gross tonnage, with a build time of about two years versus up to five for full custom.
  • Unusually generous volume for the lengthAt over 1,500 GT on a 65.5 to 65.7 metre wide-body Tim Heywood hull (beam 11.9 to 12.3 metres depending on source), the platform delivers real interior volume for its LOA class.
  • Genuine ocean-crossing range5,000 nautical miles at 13 knots is a strong, well-corroborated figure that supports true long-range cruising rather than being spec-sheet padding.
  • Named, first-hand technical endorsementImagine's delivery captain, Grahame Shorrocks, praised the stabilisers self-tuning during the delivery passage, calling the yacht 'fantastic' in an on-the-record interview, rather than marketing copy.
  • Proven, repeat-built platformThree, arguably four with the stretched variant, hulls sold between 2011 and 2016 shows real repeat buyer confidence, unlike many one-off semi-custom designs.

Da valutare

  • Platform is now 15-plus years oldLaunched 2010-2011, no independent sea-trial performance data, noise measurements or journalistic review with hard numbers exists beyond secondhand marketing claims, meaning there is little independent benchmarking against more recent 60-70 metre designs.
  • Semi-custom trade-off is inherent to the range's own pitchThe same feature that praises the cost and time advantage implicitly concedes the trade-off: a semi-custom platform sacrifices some individuality of naval architecture for speed and price.
  • Spec-sheet inconsistency across brokersEngine model, fresh-water tankage and gross tonnage vary between listing sites, suggesting either genuine hull-to-hull build variation or inconsistent broker data. A buyer cannot take any single listing's numbers at face value without a survey.
  • No public running-cost or maintenance-history dataFor a model with hulls now 12 to 15 years old and likely facing major refit-cycle costs, the total absence of any reported running-cost figure is a notable gap.
  • Ownership record is murky for two of three original hullsCurrent ownership of Sea Rhapsody and Z rests only on third-party tracker inference (SuperYachtFan), not on-record confirmation, which limits what can be said about current condition or care standard.

Informazioni pratiche

New-build priceRomeo United Yachts states a list price of 86,000,000 euros for a standard-configuration new build. This is a single-sourced figure and may reflect a current asking price for a fresh build slot rather than the original circa-2010 contract price, which was not found anywhere.
Resale evidenceYacht Buyer's market-watch data records three hulls sold at asking prices of 58,500,000 euros (June 2021), 52,500,000 euros (July 2018) and 59,900,000 euros (June 2016), all on 2011-built hulls. No brokerage is named for these specific sales on that page.
Charter rateSister ship Ventum Maris was reported available for charter at 530,000 euros per week, per Boat International. A single figure, not corroborated elsewhere, and rates may have since changed.
Hulls deliveredThree confirmed: hull 6501, delivered 2011 as Imagine, later renamed Infinite Shades and then Ventum Maris (current name), reported owned by Dario Ferrari, founder of Intercos, per SuperYachtFan's third-party ownership tracking, not a primary confirmation. Hull 6502, Sea Rhapsody, delivered 2012, interior by Andrew Winch. Hull 6503, Z, delivered 2014, reported owned by Kostyantin Zhevago per the same third-party tracker. A fourth 212-platform hull was sold in 2016 through Fraser Yachts, but a separate report describes it as a stretched 220-foot variant rather than a straight sister ship; this is a genuine ambiguity in the public record.
Running costsNo vessel-specific figure was found. Only generic industry rule-of-thumb content exists, not a reported figure for this model.
Not publishedOriginal individual-hull contract prices, watermaker capacity in litres per day, confirmed current ownership of Sea Rhapsody and Z beyond third-party tracker claims, and any audited running-cost figure.
