Remi Tessier sotto coperta
Costruire a quello standard significa scafo rinforzato, impianti protetti e attenzione accurata all'operatività in condizioni fredde e remote.
Come in tutti i suoi progetti, Feadship tiene privata l'identità dell'armatore.
Motori e impianti
| Main engines | 2x Caterpillar 3516E diesel-electric, rated 2,240kW (approx. 3,004hp) each at 1,800rpm - figure given by Feadship's own site and independently corroborated (in imperial units) by YachtCharterFleet. Note: one non-trade source (SuperyachtFan) instead claims MTU engines, which conflicts with every other source and appears unreliable. |
|---|---|
| Generators | 2x Caterpillar C18, 436 ekW each - disclosed only by Feadship's own site; not independently corroborated elsewhere. |
| Top speed | 17 knots - consistent across Feadship, Boat International, YachtCharterFleet, SuperyachtNews and Robb Report. |
| Cruising speed | 12 knots per Feadship, Boat International, YachtCharterFleet, SuperyachtNews and Robb Report - but SuperYacht Times' own overview page states 15 knots. Sources disagree; not resolved. |
| Range | 6,000 nautical miles at 12 knots - corroborated by five sources: Feadship, Boat International, YachtCharterFleet, SuperyachtNews and Robb Report. |
| Fuel tankage | 289,840 litres (76,567 US gal) - disclosed only on Feadship's own site; no independent corroboration found. |
| Fresh water tankage | 74,800 litres (19,760 US gal) - disclosed only on Feadship's own site; no independent corroboration found. |
| Stabilizers | Fitted for underway and at-anchor comfort (YachtCharterFleet describes an "advanced stabilization system"); no make, model or type (fin vs. gyro) publicly disclosed. |
| Dynamic positioning | Reported to be fitted, allowing the yacht to hold position without anchoring in sensitive polar waters (SuperyachtNews and general trade coverage); no manufacturer or system specification disclosed. |
| Watermaker | Not publicly disclosed in any source found. |
| Thrusters | Not publicly disclosed - no count, position or power rating found in any source. |
| Classification society / notation | Lloyd's Register 100A1 SSC Yacht, Mono, G6, ECO, with Polar Code certification for polar-region operation. The specific IACS Polar Class category (A/B/C) is not disclosed in any source found - "Polar Code certified" is used generically throughout the press. |
| Hull / construction | Ice-strengthened steel hull, aluminium superstructure, teak decking, full-displacement platform - consistent across Boat International, YachtCharterFleet and SuperyachtNews. Note: Feadship's own site gives beam as 15.30m and draught as 3.80m, while Boat International, SuperYacht Times and YachtCharterFleet all independently report a 14.7m beam and 3.9m draught - a genuine, unresolved disagreement between the builder's own figures and third-party trade press on these two dimensions. |
| Notable engineering feature | Hybrid diesel-electric propulsion architecture is presented by Feadship and repeated by press (SuperyachtNews, Megayacht News headline) as enabling lower-emission, more efficient running specifically to reduce impact while operating in fragile polar ecosystems - a genuine engineering angle tied to the Polar Code use case, though battery capacity and any silent/electric-only running range are not disclosed. |
Cosa riferiscono armatori ed equipaggi
Owner was closely involved in the build, per Feadship's own project manager
Feadship project manager Albert Abma is quoted saying of the client on Bliss: "the client embraced every opportunity to play a role" and that the owner "thoroughly enjoyed meeting the craftspeople and learning about our processes at the yard." This is the builder's own account of the owner's involvement, relayed via Feadship's project manager to the trade press - not an independent owner interview, and no direct on-the-record owner quote was found anywhere.

Cosa convince e cosa va valutato
Punti di forza
- Genuine, multi-source-verified expedition engineering, not just a styling exerciseFull Polar Code certification on an ice-strengthened steel hull with aluminium superstructure, paired with hybrid diesel-electric propulsion (2x Caterpillar 3516E main engines plus 2x Caterpillar C18 generators per Feadship's own spec sheet) explicitly framed by the builder and press as reducing emissions and impact while operating in fragile polar ecosystems. Confirmed independently by Feadship, Boat International, SuperyachtNews and Robb Report.
- Core specs are consistent across independent trade sources94.75m LOA, 2,983 GT, 9 cabins/18 guests, 41 crew and a 6,000nm range at 12 knots are reported identically by Boat International, SuperYacht Times and YachtCharterFleet - three editorially independent outlets agreeing on the headline numbers.
- Industry recognition beyond the launch press cycleNominated for Best Displacement Motor Yacht (2,000GT+) at the World Superyacht Awards 2022, and won a Judges' Commendation at the Boat International Design & Innovation Awards 2022 - external juries, not just builder marketing.
- The helideck-to-sports-deck conversion and expedition amenity set is corroborated, not just a builder claimThe commercially certified helideck that converts into a sports and games deck, plus large pool and extensive gym/wellness area, is independently reported by Boat International, Robb Report, YachtBuyer and SuperyachtNews - the same feature described consistently by four separate outlets.
Da valutare
- Reported ownership is explicitly unconfirmed, even by the outlet reporting itBoat International's own tech-billionaires roundup says Evan Spiegel "reportedly owns" Bliss - hedged language acknowledging the claim is not officially confirmed by Feadship, by Spiegel, or by SuperYacht Times' yacht profile (which lists no owner). The more assertive versions of this claim ($200m value, Spiegel as owner) trace to SuperyachtFan, a single non-trade-press source, and are not corroborated by Boat International, SuperYacht Times or Feadship.
- Build cost and running costs are single-sourced and unverifiedThe widely repeated ~$200 million build cost and ~$20 million/year running cost figures come from SuperyachtFan only. No trade publication (Boat International, SuperYacht Times, YachtCharterFleet) publishes a cost figure, and Feadship never discloses build prices.
- Cruising speed is reported inconsistently between sourcesFeadship's own site, Boat International's directory, YachtCharterFleet, SuperyachtNews and Robb Report all state a 12-knot cruising speed (17-knot top speed). SuperYacht Times' own overview page, however, states a 15-knot cruising speed for the same yacht - an unresolved discrepancy on a headline performance figure that this research could not reconcile.
- Detailed engineering disclosure is thin for a yacht whose whole premise is ice capabilityNo source found discloses watermaker capacity, thruster count/power, stabilizer make/model, or - more notably - which IACS Polar Class category (A, B, or C) Bliss actually holds under the Polar Code. "Polar Code certified" is used generically across every press account without the underlying class notation being published, beyond Lloyd's Register's general 100A1 SSC Yacht, Mono, G6, ECO notation reported by YachtCharterFleet alone.
- No independent owner or charter-guest testimony existsBecause Bliss is privately owned and not on the charter market, there is no broker or guest review of how the yacht performs in practice. Everything public is either Feadship's own account or press coverage of the delivery/launch - not lived experience.
