Dettaglio classico in uno scafo moderno
Quattro motori MTU e raggio d'azione vero
Motori e impianti
| Main engines | 4 x MTU diesel, 20V 4000 M73 series, 20-cylinder, approximately 4,828 hp (3,600 kW) each at 2,025 rpm (YachtCharterFleet, SuperyachtFan; Boat International confirms four MTU diesel engines without full model detail). |
|---|---|

| Range | Up to 5,000 nautical miles at 13 knots cruise, per YachtCharterFleet's technical brochure data. |
| Fuel tankage | 276,000 litres. |
| Fresh water tankage | 56,000 litres (YachtCharterFleet). |
| Stabilizers | Fitted with at-anchor (zero-speed) stabilizers, described in brochure material as providing exceptional comfort levels; specific manufacturer/model not confirmed in available public sources. |
| Gearboxes / thrusters / watermaker / generators | Not confirmed by manufacturer or model in publicly available sources reviewed; general yacht-database listings do not break these systems out beyond confirming conventional diesel propulsion and standard hotel/utility systems. This is an open gap rather than a filled-in placeholder figure. |
| Classification | Lloyd's Register 100A1 SSC, YACHT, MONO, G6, LMC, UMS; MCA compliant (SuperYacht Times fleet data). |
| Hull/construction | Steel hull with aluminium superstructure and teak decking, built at Feadship's De Vries Makkum yard; naval architecture by Feadship's De Voogt Naval Architects. |

Yacht is Winch Design's own account of the project, not an independent owner interview
Winch Design's portfolio page describes Madame Gu as sleek, powerful and extremely detailed and states she was the largest superyacht built in the Netherlands at time of delivery. This is the designer's own promotional account, not a statement attributed to the owner.
Winch DesignUS Treasury's own account of onboard amenities, filed as part of a sanctions designation, not an owner or builder statement
In its 2022 SDN List designation of the vessel, the US Treasury's OFAC listed a private helicopter, elevator, beach club and gym as identifying features of the property being blocked. This is a government sanctions filing describing the asset, not a review or an owner's account.
US Department of the Treasury (OFAC)A 2013 internal compliance review flagged the ownership arrangement as high-risk
Leaked Appleby files reviewed for the Paradise Papers show a 2013 compliance officer at the offshore law firm warned that the yacht's beneficial-ownership structure, financed by Andrei Skoch through his partner Elena Likhach's shell companies, was a very high risk given press reporting linking Skoch to criminal groups; management overruled the concern.
International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (Paradise Papers)Independent tracking data, not an owner statement, shows the yacht immobile in Dubai
Vessel-tracking service MyShipTracking recorded Madame Gu stationary in the Port of Dubai as of July 2025, consistent with reporting that it has not moved since March 2022.

Cosa convince e cosa va valutato
Punti di forza
- Rare unified exterior/interior design authorshipBoth exterior and interior were designed by a single house, Andrew Winch Designs, which is unusual at this size and is credited industry-wide for the yacht's cohesive look - a factor cited in her 2014 World Superyacht Awards wins (Best Displacement Motor Yacht 2,000GT+ and Motor Yacht of the Year) reported by Boat International, which organizes the awards.
- Genuinely innovative engineering featureThe automated, fully enclosed helicopter hangar on the bow, which reconfigures into other usable space, is a distinctive, widely-cited engineering solution rather than a routine helipad.
- Substantial power and range for a 99m displacement yachtFour MTU 20V 4000 M73 diesels at roughly 4,828 hp each give a quoted range of up to 5,000 nm at 13 knots on 276,000 litres of fuel - figures repeated consistently across yacht-database sources (YachtCharterFleet, SuperyachtFan).
Da valutare
- Basic ownership facts commonly assumed about this yacht are wrongMultiple independent, named sources (Wikipedia citing the US Federal Register/OFAC notice, the Paradise Papers investigation, SuperYacht Times and Boat International's own Superyacht Directory) identify Madame Gu's owner as Russian businessman and State Duma deputy Andrei Skoch, financed via his partner Elena Likhach's Cayman Islands company - not Andrey Melnichenko, who is a separate and well-documented owner of Sailing Yacht A and Motor Yacht A. Any page copy naming Melnichenko as Madame Gu's owner would be factually incorrect.
- Vessel has been immobilized and effectively unusable for yearsFollowing EU, US, UK, Australia, Canada, Japan and Switzerland sanctions on Skoch in 2022, the yacht went dark (AIS switched off), was tracked to Dubai's Mina Rashid/Port of Dubai, was de-flagged, and per tracking data and reporting through mid-2025 has not moved since March 2022, sitting under only a skeleton crew.
- Build/value figures are inconsistent across sourcesCited figures range from approximately $150-156 million build/estimated value (Wikipedia, SuperyachtFan) to a reported $277 million purchase price paid by the Cayman Islands holding company per the leaked Appleby files. Cruising speed is also reported inconsistently - 18 knots (YachtCharterFleet, SuperyachtFan) versus 16 knots (Boat International) - and crew size varies between 36 and 38. None of these discrepancies could be resolved to a single authoritative figure, so they are flagged rather than averaged.
- Active US seizure effort with unresolved outcomeSuperYacht Times and autoevolution reported that US officials moved toward seizing the yacht roughly six months after it was located in Dubai in 2022, coordinating with local authorities; as of the most recent available tracking (mid-2025) the vessel remains in Dubai and no completed seizure or transfer has been publicly confirmed, leaving its legal and physical status unresolved and effectively frozen out of the charter/brokerage market.
Informazioni pratiche
| Build cost | Commonly reported as $150-156 million (Wikipedia, SuperyachtFan); a leaked 2012 Appleby file instead cites a $277 million purchase price paid by the owning Cayman Islands company - sources disagree and are reported here rather than averaged. |
|---|---|
