A Yacht That Travels With Her Own Support Ship
Al Said belongs to the Oman Royal Yacht Squadron, a fleet kept entirely separate from the Royal Navy of Oman and the Royal Guard and run instead by the Diwan of Royal Court Affairs, the palace's own administrative office. Every major vessel in the squadron, Al Said included, carries the same cream hull with blue highlights. She rarely if ever sails without her own dedicated support ship, the 136-metre Fulk Al Salamah, an amphibious transport and logistics vessel built to carry stores, spares and equipment so the yacht herself never has to, and an Oman Navy escort typically accompanies her on passage. It is a standing logistical operation built around one yacht, closer to how a head of state travels than how any private owner runs a boat.
Her ownership has been harder to pin down since April 2022, when she was quietly listed for sale through Black Orange Superyacht Experts at a reported value north of $500 million. Several outlets subsequently reported that Qatar's royal family had bought her that June, but no Omani source or confirmed buyer has ever addressed the reports directly. What is certain is that she kept sailing under the same name and the same Royal Yacht Squadron colours: spotters recorded her in Monaco and, for the first time, in France as recently as 2026. Whatever the truth of the 2022 reports, Al Said has not visibly changed hands in any way the public can see.

Cosa riferiscono armatori ed equipaggi
She never travels alone, because a yacht this size cannot carry everything a state visit needs
Al Said normally sails with her own dedicated 136-metre support and logistics ship, Fulk Al Salamah, plus an Oman Navy escort, a level of standing logistical support built around one yacht that no private owner replicates for their own boat.
The War ZoneThe concert hall was built for a musician who meant it, not a client who wanted one
The fifty-piece-orchestra concert hall reflects the late Sultan Qaboos's own decades as an organ and lute player, who founded the Royal Oman Symphony Orchestra in 1985 and had its musicians recruited and trained from scratch inside Oman rather than imported.
Oman ObserverHer ownership has been publicly murky since 2022, and nobody involved has clarified it
She was quietly listed for sale through Black Orange Superyacht Experts in April 2022, several outlets subsequently reported a sale to Qatar's royal family, and neither Oman nor any confirmed buyer has ever addressed the reports directly; she has simply kept sailing under her original name and Oman Royal Yacht Squadron colours.

Cosa convince e cosa va valutato
Punti di forza
- Built for a genuine musician, not just a show of wealthThe concert hall reflects the late Sultan Qaboos's own decades of work building Oman's national symphony orchestra from scratch, not a generic yacht amenity.
- Logistics on a state, not a private, scaleHer own dedicated support ship and a naval escort mean Al Said herself never has to carry the stores, spares or extra crew a yacht this size would otherwise need.
- One of only a handful of vessels ever built past 150 metresAt 155 metres she remains among the largest private yachts afloat nearly two decades after delivery.
Da valutare
- Almost nothing about her is independently confirmedSpeed, range, cabin count and running costs all vary between published sources, because Oman has never issued its own figures.
- Her ownership status is currently unclearReportedly listed for sale in 2022 with some outlets reporting a sale to Qatar's royal family, but no confirmed change of registered owner and continued sightings under the same name and paint scheme.
- The reported running cost sits oddly next to Oman's own budget cutsPress estimates of roughly $60 million a year in running costs have circulated at the same time Sultan Haitham has pushed public-spending cuts elsewhere in government.
