The freeze that has outlasted every prediction
Dilbar has not carried a guest since March 2022, when German authorities treated her as frozen under EU sanctions while she sat mid-maintenance at Lurssen's Hamburg yard. The yacht is formally owned by The Sister Trust, an estate-planning structure Alisher Usmanov set up and then left in 2017; the EU's case rested on his sister Gulbakhor Ismailova being its sole beneficiary, a claim Germany's own federal police later withdrew and the DPA news agency retracted in 2025.
On 11 June 2026 a Frankfurt administrative court sided with Lurssen, which had sued for a ruling so it could finally bill someone for the upkeep, and found the authorities never proved either Usmanov or Ismailova controls the trust today. The ruling is not final and can still be appealed, so Dilbar remains exactly where she has been for four years: inside one of Europe's largest floating docks, costing Lurssen itself roughly EUR 50,000 a day, with no owner able to use the yacht she was built for.
Motori e impianti
| Propulsion | Diesel-electric: four Wartsila 12V32 diesel generator sets, 8,158 hp / 6,082 kW each, driving electric motors for about 30,000 kW total installed power, the largest diesel-electric plant on any yacht at delivery. |
|---|---|
| Speed | Top speed 22.5 knots, cruising speed 18 knots. |
| Range | About 6,000 nautical miles at 16 knots, from roughly 1,050,000 litres of fuel. |
| Hull and tankage | Steel displacement hull, aluminium superstructure, half teak decks, 23.5 m beam, 6.1 m draft; fresh water tankage around 112,000 litres. |
| Stabilisation | At-anchor and underway stabilisers, needed to keep a 156 m displacement hull steady at the low speeds she is mostly run at. |
| Pool and hangars | A 25 m indoor pool holding about 180 cubic metres of water, reported as the largest ever installed on a yacht, plus two helicopter landing spots. |

Cosa riferiscono armatori ed equipaggi
Crew were let go when sanctions froze payment
Multiple named outlets reported the yacht's crew left or were dismissed in 2022 after the sanctions froze the accounts used to pay wages - a direct account of what the freeze did to the people actually running the yacht, not a design claim.
gCaptainThe freeze immobilised the yacht at dock, not at sea
Reporting on the 2022 seizure describes Dilbar as caught mid-maintenance at Lurssen's own Hamburg yard, meaning she has not been used as a yacht at all since - an operational fact about the vessel's real status rather than a marketing one.

Cosa convince e cosa va valutato
Punti di forza
- The largest pool ever built into a yachtA 180 cubic metre indoor pool, reported as the biggest of its kind installed on any yacht, is the single feature every account of Dilbar leads with.
- Genuinely enormous diesel-electric plantAt roughly 30,000 kW installed, the power plant is built for a hotel load few yachts approach - two helicopter pads, full air conditioning across 15,900 GT, and the pool's filtration and heating running continuously.
- Comfort-first hull for a 156 m yachtAt-anchor stabilisers and a full-displacement steel hull trade speed for a genuinely steady platform, which matters more than pace on a yacht this size.
Da valutare
- Unresolved ownership is now the whole storyFour years frozen in a floating dock over a trust-ownership dispute has cost more in legal fees and dock rent than most yachts' entire annual running budget, and the June 2026 ruling is under appeal, not final.
- No confirmed price, no confirmed crew numberEvery basic fact a buyer would want - build cost, running cost, even crew size - has at least two conflicting public figures and no confirmation from Lurssen or the owner's side.
- Modest speed for the length22.5 knots top speed is unremarkable next to faster flagships of similar length; the diesel-electric plant is sized for hotel load and comfort, not pace.
Informazioni pratiche
| Build cost | No single confirmed figure: SuperYachtFan cites US$800 million, Wikipedia and other outlets cite US$600 million. Lurssen has never published a price, so treat both as press estimates, not a fact. |
|---|---|
| Running cost | Reported at US$50-80 million a year by SuperYachtFan - crew, fuel, dockage and upkeep on a 156 m hull with an 80-plus crew. No second source confirms the figure. |
| Crew and guests | Reported crew numbers vary by source between about 80 and 96; guest capacity is reported as either 24 or 36 depending on configuration cited. Lurssen has not published an authoritative figure since delivery. |
| Current legal status | Frozen under EU sanctions from March 2022 while in for maintenance at Lurssen's Hamburg yard. On 11 June 2026 the Frankfurt am Main administrative court ruled the freeze no longer applies, finding no proven link between Alisher Usmanov and the trust that owns the yacht; the ruling is not yet final and can be appealed. |
| Where she has been | Held inside one of Europe's largest floating docks at Lurssen's Hamburg (Blohm+Voss) yard since 2022, reportedly costing the yard itself around EUR 50,000 a day to maintain while the ownership dispute runs. |
| Charter | Not chartering. The yacht has been immobilised by the sanctions dispute since 2022 and has no public charter listing. |
